Note to Visitors: Leave Your Small Dogs at Home

Daily Photo

This magnificent-looking hawk was perched just outside the marketing conference room today, probably taking notes.  We think there was a nest nearby as he was repeatedly being bullied by two much smaller birds--one seen here screaming at him.  They must be extremely brave because when I see him swooping around our back parking lot looking for an unsuspecting squirrel or bunny rabbit, I take cover.

Brave?  Probably just diverting attention or chasing away from their nest(s).  We see birds five bombing our cats all the time.

I suspect the smaller birds could easily become a snack if the hawk so desired.  Probably more annoyed than anything and waiting for a meatier squirrel or bunny.

The smaller birds may also be harder to catch at least without getting scratched up than a squirrel or bunny.

I'd avoid this guy too and be really leary of wearing a fur or fur trimmed hat of any kind when it's nearby.

A Hawk came crashing through my Banana trees the other day being chased by Martins. I have seen Hawks swoop down on prarie dogs and rats. GO HAWKS!
