Legends in Racing, Part 1 - Danny Sullivan

I spent a great afternoon at the speedway today, gearing up for Indy's crazy month of May. Although I enjoy it immensely, I'm not one to frequent the track. Too hot, too crowded, to hassley. But if an opportunity presents itself, I usually take it. Like opportunities accompanied by garage and pit passes. Ok, so I'm spoiled.

I got a few nice photos of some racing legends which I plan to share over the next week. First up, 1985 winner Danny Sullivan. A true gentleman, he patiently signed autographs from a golf cart in the middle of Gasoline Alley for what seemed like an eternity. I usually don't gawk at celebrities, let alone try to get autographs, but since he was always one of my favorites, I thought Steven would like to have a signature (yeah, Steven, that's the ticket).

The funny thing, while I was waiting for my turn standing in front of the golf cart, he must have let off the brake ever so slightly...and came really close to running me over. Did you catch that? Danny Sullivan. Almost ran me over. At the Indianapolis 500. If that isn't a cool way to go, I don't know what is.
