Music Monday rolled around pretty quick this time. Sure helps to actually take some time off.
I typically don't listen to angry chick rockers. You know the type -- Alanis Morissette, Liz Phair, Hole ... although there are a few exceptions. P!nk comes to mind, who I like more and more. She's an angry girl...but oh so talented.
Fiona Apple falls into that category for me, but I'd heard so many good things about her latest album I thought I'd give her another try. I'm glad I did because you know what? I found a song that sums up my very existence. Well, my existence after midnight anyway. Which anyone afflicted with insomnia can tell you is not easy to articulate. We're just too darned tired.
Kudos to Fiona for finding the words:
Every single night I endure the flight
Of little wings of white flame
Butterflies in my brain
These ideas of mine percolate the mind
Trickle down the spine
Swarm the belly, swelling to a blaze
