The Big Game has come to town. Indianapolis is a buzz. We're no strangers to large sporting events, but nothing has rivaled this. While I'm not going to the actual game (who has $2500 laying around?), I am contemplating hauling my freezing fanny out to the pre-festivities... or at least to take a gander at the huge Roman numerals that have graced the Circle Monument. I'll snap a photo if I go, promise! After all, like some sort of comet, this likely won't happen again in my lifetime. Scary thought.

In the meantime, if you are an Indianapolisian (yeah, I just made that up), or even a temporary one this month, be on the lookout for the Klipsch bus. If you see it, snap it, and post on our Facebook page. You could win one of 17 Gallery G-17 Air wireless speakers we are giving away. Plus it's just a heck of a lot of fun.

And go, Eli!

Weekend Entertainment

I had a big, long blog in mind for this picture, but the more I look at it, the more it speaks for itself. I was lucky enough to nab some Klipsch-tickets, and I say lucky because I actually prefer preseason to the chaos of the actual season. In fact, there was so little chaos that we arrived entirely too early (as indicated by the empty seats in this photo), and Steven was cheering and hollering much too long before the game even started. So by the time the second quarter rolled around, he had had enough. And who could blame him, after the Colts' less than stellar showing? That's ok, they never win in the preseason. Why break precedent?

And might I add that I was infinitely kind in posting this photo. There's one of him involving cheerleader pom-poms that might require some therapy down the road had it been made public.

Drew Brees likes us...he really likes us!

I know it's so not cool to gush over celebrities, but hey, I've been know to do it from time to time. With wood cut outs of our loveable headphone mascots in tow, we arrived bright and early to Hurst Bean Field in the shadow of Lucas Oil Stadium for games and prizes. And when I say "we," I mean a customer service rep, an engineer, and two marketing managers. Quite a combo, if you think about it.

By tossing a miniature Klipsch branded Colts blue-and-white football through the heads of our mascots (a little creepy, really), winners were ecstatic to walk away with either Image S4 or S2 headphones, and a chance to win the grand prize HD Theater 300 at the end of the day. All participants got to take home a tiny football... win-win!

Aside from one volunteer arriving an hour early (psst, Derek, Indiana has been participating in DST since spring 2006), the event went without a hitch. The best part was probably seeing 200 or so miniature Klipsch footballs being hurled through the parking lot, and of course hearing local music talents Dave and Rae belting it out from the loading docks. Oh, and the matching track suits.

Special thanks to Matt Huntley and Hurst Beans for making the event possible. There simply isn't a valid reason for not buying Hurst...a family tradition in central Indiana since 1938. And we're all about family traditions.

The Wide Receiver Next Door

Something I don't believe I've mentioned on my blog yet (imagine that) is my love of the NFL. It is an unnatural thing, I admit. Most women either have open disdain for the sport, pretend to like it for the sake of snagging a dude, or tolerate it for the tailgating festivities alone. I do have a few girlfriends that truly love it, which translates into a sense of sisterhood in our unnaturalness.

One exception to this is the Colts. Everyone here loves the Colts, men and women alike. Me? I've never cared for them. As a Los Angeles Rams fans since 1978, the Colts weren't even a blip of the radar until they made their way here under the cover of night in 1984. But because the now St. Louis Rams have been a giant snooze-fest since they booted Kurt Warner, and they're never on local TV anyway, I've been making a concentrated effort to follow...and love...the Colts. It's been a struggle, but I'm making progress.

I certainly helps that yesterday they picked up wide receiver Hank Baskett, who is perhaps better known as Kendra's Boyfriend (now husband) from the tacky but highly watchable (now defunct) Girls Next Door. I have yet to catch her new reality show, but maybe I'll give it a try, just to follow the follies of our newest acquisition.

See? I still watch garbage TV too. I'm not completely unnatural.

Go Rams!

Moonlighting

Daily Photo

The Friday before long holiday weekends is always a bit strange at Klipsch. Seems as though half the people are gone, while the other half wander around in a daze wondering why they are here. I happen to be one of those in a daze, so I'm making today's blog an easy one.

For those of you who are curious, yes, I did make it to the Colts game last night. A drive that usually takes me a half an hour to maneuver turned into an hour and a half joy ride with a four-year-old in tow, who was not only hungry and had to potty, was clueless about where we were going or why we had to go. Which never goes over well with small children.

It was completely worth it when we arrived, and not just because we had fantastic parking. Or fantastic seats. Or a fantastically awesome new stadium to marvel over. Or that overall Steven was a good little football fan and enjoyed himself immensely (although we did manage to annoy a few people around us). The best part for me, and I think for Steven as well, was running into Grandpa -- realtor by day, Conseco Fieldhouse/Lucas Oil Stadium usher by night.

Plus he was wearing an awesome color.

I Predict a First Quarter Departure

Daily Photo

One of the perks of working for Klipsch is the tickets to local sporting events and theater productions that sometimes come our way. I was the lucky receipient of Colts tickets for tonight's preseason game against the Bengals at the brand new Lucas Oil Stadium. Row 5.

I haven't decided yet, but I'm thinking about taking Steven to his first football game ever as an early birthday present. Could be a wonderful time or a complete disaster. Depends who is sitting next to him. Whoever you are, if you are reading this, I apologize in advance for the small child next to you, repeatedly kicking the seats, leaning on you as he stands up every five minutes, and throwing food in your general direction. He really is a sweet boy. Really.

Colts Fan

A girl I know is married.

The couple had season Colts tickets.

Dilema: Do they go to the Super Bowl in Miami to finish out the season?

Husband: Yes. Girl I know: No.

The phone call: "What about flight? What about a place to stay? What about time off work? What about the dog? What about all that money? What if they lose? I need to think about this. You're making me sick to my stomach. Don't do anything stupid. Bye."

Two hours later....flowers are delivered. Tickets are bought. Mini-vacation planned at condo by the sea.

Daytime soaps are easily replaced by voices over a cubicle wall.
