I've been a Klipsch fan for about 10 years now, but have just hopped onto this Klipsch Community.
Have a question that's been in my mind for a while now. Looking at the specs for some expensive models (P-37F for example ) the frequency response seems to be starved in the low end. My technical knowledge will show here, but does the 'low frequency extension' make up for that? And how so? How does LFE in the P series differ from the RF-7's response going down to 32 hz?
Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

Strobe light on turntable

Should the adjustment for the strobe allow the image to walk both forwards and backwards?

If the image is 'walking' SLOWLY to the right (counter clockwise) does that mean the platter is turning too fast or too slow?

Does the image ever really "lock" into an imovable image and not drift at all?

If it matters, I'm looking at a Thorens TD-124

KLF_20 Cabinets

I have a set of KLF-20's and noticed the the rear baffle is loosening up. I just ordered a pair of Klipsch KG 2.5's. I have about $200 left to power them with something. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or what I should look for in terms of watts or spec. I'm not really an audio expert, just want to buy something to listen to. I know my budget is low. Should I just goto Best Buy and get a receiver or try to find some kind of integrated on ebay etc. ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The trim ring appears glued to the basket, and I would hate to break the plastic attempting a repair.

I suppose that if there is no safe way to remove the trim, I could try to locate an appropriate plastic syringe and inject an adhesive between the back of the surround and the basket, but having full access to the surround while making the repair would seem preferable.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but my search turned up nothing.

This setup or this setup? ha

ok this is a 14x28 theater room and cant have floor standing speakers and trying to stay around $1,500 (used and new mix) 50%movies 30/20 sports gaming

Fronts 2-RB61

Center 1-RC62

Sides 2- RS 42's (may try to get the 52's)

Rear 2-RB51

w/12" sub

OOOORRR

FCR- RC-52's

Sides 42's

Rear Rb51's

w/12" sub

Onkyo SR806

thanks John

PS: ive never heard klipsch in my life and am buying them cause I only hear good things about them

Can I date my Cornwalls by serial number?

Hello all. I'm a long time Klipsch owner, but new to this community. I recently picked up a used pair of Cornwalls - a speaker I've loved since I worked at a Klipsch dealer as a teenager in 1979. Right now they're hooked up to a Denon AVR 2308CI, and sound wonderful, but soon they'll be mated with a Fisher 500C...
Is there an easy way for me to figure out the age of these things? Is there a link for a serial # database?
Thanks,
Rob
PS: Proof that I married the right woman? She told me she thought the Cornwalls would look good with the Fortes stacked on top...

BURNED La Scala

One of my relatives has a pair of 1978 La Scalas (with type AA crossovers and K77s) that were burned when transported on a trailer that caight on fire. The photo is of the one that got burned the most. The other one looks good after being sanded and horns repainted. The one that got burned the most looks a lot better in the photo now than it did before it was sanded. They still work great! I baby sat this pair for a couple of years and I noticed that the more burned one sounded brighter than the less burned one. Having been a long time Cornwall owner, I assumed that the sound of the brighter, more burned La Scala was normal (like a Cornwall) and possibly the sound of the duller, less burned La Scala was affected by the fire - I focused on the tweeters because that is where the difference could be heard. I never completely bought that theory and left it at that. I recently acquired a nice pair of 1979 La Scalas with type AA crossovers and discovered that the tweeters sounded the same as the less burned La Scala - dull, or topping out at 14KHz. After reading a thousand or so posts on the forum about crossovers, a new theory hit me. What do you think of this? -- the less burned, duller La Scala is normal and the fire turned the more burned La Scala crossover from an AA to an A (at least in part). The fire performed the mod producing a condition of brighter highs. I haven't done any swapping and probably won't.

I've searched and searched and I can only find one post with instructions to change an type AA to an A but it was unclear. Can anyone give me a better set of instructions?

What it's doing is when you push the play button or lift the tone arm, the strobe lights up but the platter will not turn. It's not locked up, you can spin it freely by hand but that's it. Any help could be greatly used. I'm comparing it to my Mcintosh MC7270.

Tonight I fired up the old Adcom and let it idle, nothing else
turned on, no pre-amp, CD player, nothing. After one hour, it was up to
120 deg. F.

Sound like a problem to you guys? I bought it drand new about 10 years ago. It has never been messed with. Has a soft turn off thump on on channel.

The Mcintosh barely get warm even after hours of use.

I guess I'll busting out the watt meter and see what it's pulling at idle. Then, as someone else suggested on another post, the scope.

I'll look at the output and see if anything shows.

Is it Worth It?: Refurbishing a Turntable

So, I am need of a second TT. My current one is hooked up to the computer to duplicate and archive some of my LP collection.

A friend gave me an old Yamaha YP-211 that needs a new belt and, probably, an upgraded cartridge.

I was also looking around in my mother's basement and found the old Realistic Direct Drive turntable that I used as a kid. It stopped working properly over ten years ago. I like direct drive tables and am interested in bringing it back from dead.

How much is it get one of these fixed up, if needed. Also, if it will cost as much as a new TT, are these 1970s vintage tables worth it?

Thanks for your assistance,

Karl

Re-Cap Cornwall's

I have replaced the caps on the B2 crossovers with the kits from B&K.
