moray-- Boy did you re-activate some old brain cells. I do remember that EV array. I'm thinking about a K-400/K-401/SpeakerLab H-350 squawker oriented with the long dimension vertical and a small CD horn tweeter above or below. My (unproven) theory is that the horizontal dispersion pattern will have less beaming at the high end of the squawker and with the horizontal dimensions of the squawker and tweeter similar, this will provide better contnuity of the horizontal polar pattern through the

Thank you to those that answered this post, and especially to speakerfritz, who was willing to part with a pair of SpeakerLab HD-350 at a reasonable price. Now it's time for me to design and build an idea that I've had for a while to make the polar behavior of the top hat more consistent throughout its' operating range. I'll take pix and acoustical measurements along the way and post the results. It may take a while, as this is a spare time project.
...i did get some k401 if that is the resin models of the k400 from klipsch a few years ago for $50 each no drivers...
I didn't realize Klipsch sold 'em as parts. I'll get in touch with them right away. Thanx for the tip!

Fabulous Forum Friends-- The time has come to experiment with the squawkers and tweeters of my Klipschorns. I have the tweeter bits. Does anyone have stray squawker stuff laying about that you are willing to turn into a modest amount of cash?
<snip>I picked up a Yamaha SP2060 today: once I find a fair 6-channel amp, I'll try out his tri-amp settings on my upstairs Khorns. I'm actually pretty excited to hear the differences. Chris
Chris-- I hope those settings do something for you. Please keep in mind that those settings were based on measurements of one pair of Khorns in a specific environment. YMMV. If you want to go through the whole measurement process, I can attempt to walk you

Second question: Would these PEQ's be better off put on the input side of the Dx (leaving the outputs flat) or, leave the inputs flat and put them on the outputs?
I'd put them on the output side but I'd also ignore the PEQs in the above list that are higher than your crossover frequency (nominally 40 Hz)... Chris
I have to respectfully disagree with Chris on "ignoring the PEQs" . Peaks above (in

Forrest-- The church needs to hire an acoustical consultant. There are known criteria and known methods of calculating how much of what materials/products should be installed to meet the criteria. Any vendor's first job is to sell products and services, not figure out the lowest-cost way to solve your problem. Contact an acoustics professor at a nearby university that offers engineering degrees and ask for a recommendation. Maybe the prof can do the work or recommend someone local that can help

I agree with those who feel that the brand is not important. My preference is polypropylene film/foil capacitors. Second choice is metallized polypropylene capacitors. My favorite parts house is http://www.mouser.com . Their search engine is great. Start here: http://www.mouser.com/Passive-Components/Capacitors/Film-Capacitors/_/N-9x371?P=1yznbzsZ1z0wqrc&Keyword=polypropylene&FS=True for a selection of 2 uF polypropylene capacitors.
