• Re: Acoustic room treatment
For HF brightness issues simply putting soft furniture and maybe some drapes or absorbent wall covering will do wonders. If that doesn't have sufficient effect, then try diffusers on the back wall. Move stuff around for best results.
Actually, there is...

Carpet spikes: you may want to find someone in the forum that has actually used these devices in their setup. For me, the only thing I would use them for is to decouple some piece of equipment from the floor or a shelf it is sitting on - just like those used on turntables to minimize acoustic feedback...

  • Re: Acoustic room treatment

It could be a room issue, but more likely is a combination of room geometry and an EQ/amplifier issue. I have used the Behringer Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496 with ECM8000 calibrated microphone to help EQ the room using pink noise and placing the mike in several locations in the listening area. I then average...

Well, It's very interesting how the subject of horn-loaded speakers dovetails so nicely into the subject of room acoustics: I tried out the idea of a barrier behind my listening position (my room is ~4.7 w x 12 l x 3 h metres, and I listen about 4.5 m back from the front wall). I stacked four "super...

  • Re: Looking for help on room acoustics

One approach might be to construct a small false corner (actually half of a false corner) for your right speaker to give it more connection on the lf end to the room boundaries. However, the most intriguing thought would be to place a backstop room divider just behind your listening position - with its...
While the Khorns "should" usually be placed on the long wall, in your situation I think you would do better to move one to the lower right hand corner where both speakers can better project into the room. Also, the other things you have placed in/near/in front...

  • Re: Khorn Bass 4 Years on, with apologies to PWK!

The biggest place to affect lf damping in home environments is in the corners - that is why most people use corner bass traps instead of something along a wall, etc. Getting close the source of sound (i.e., the KHorn) with damping has the biggest effect. I used to have bass traps over my Jub 402 horns...

  • Re: Khorn Bass 4 Years on, with apologies to PWK!

My listening rooms are not carpeted: the main listening room's RT60 (reverberation time) above about 200 Hz is still about 0.3-0.4 (which is good), while the RT60 below this point is about 2-3x higher. I believe that the rise in RT60 at low frequencies is primarily what you are listening to when...
