ZXPC 18" x 10" Two Inch Format Horn

Recommended Posts

I bought a pair of these recently for my eventual LaScala rebuild. I know these horns have come up before in various threads, but I don't recall seeing any frequency response graphs of a K55V (push-pin) on the 18 x 10 horn. Perhaps one is buried in a thread somewhere, but here is a measurement that I made this morning.

Two items I wanted to know about the horn was the low-end response, which clearly goes down to 400Hz and how smooth the frequency response was across the midrange band. The 18 x 10 and K55V appear to be a great match. I'm not a horn expert, but the 18 x 10 looks to be an exponential horn.

I have not listened to them yet, but will try and patch together at least one channel to see how they sound.

I've got the ZXPC 18 x 10 horns w/ K55v's on top of my LaScala's and they (k55V & horn) sound much more natural than the K400's. Typical audiophile adjectives that come to mind are  more open, less veiled, less colored, etc.

I know there are other horns out there that could be used, but for the money and sound quality, this ZXPC horn is a bargain and worth trying if you are in the market for a 400Hz mid horn. It has a thick casting and is fairly non-resonant.

I mounted a JBL D250X on the ZXPC horn too and it measured great and sounds good as well.

I have a pair of the 10x18 horns with a EV DH1As on a cornscala bass bin with 15cs and custom made crossovers. Thanks for the mearsurements and info. I will have to try it with my K55V and K55Gs. The combo I have now sounds amazing to my ears.

It is a great combo. Glad your results are similar to mine.

No, these are not the K510 clones, but the larger "generic" horns; 18 x 10. That is how they are listed. The PRV adapter below is what I am using, but they are ABS (only) and fairly soft, which you would expect. I think I'll get some aluminum ones since the PRV threads are already starting to get "boogered" up. That's a North Carolina term...

Cool enough , did you try using  3mil  teflon  tape on the metal threads prior to threading  onto  the softer ABS

I have this horn with a P-Audio BM-D450S.  The horn is very well constructed.
