  1. Summer before last, I gave Klipsch the first of their speakers that I ever heard (1965-shorthorns from the El Dorado, AR choir dept.) to referbish and sell for their fundraiser. I've been a Klipsch fan for a long time. Last summer, my heart broke at the news that the Pilgrimage was cancelled. With the advent of the new forum, I thought it would be a good time to invite Klipsch folks to a Klipsch party at the Klipsch hometown. This is entirely devoid of any knowledge, blessing, or approval from anyone at Klipsch. If it turns out to be an ARKLATEX gathering, we'll have a blast, but I'd like to see some of you Yankees, and others, too. I'll post soon with some details. Since it's Hog country, we'll have to Bar-B-Que one. SSH "The Farm house is not available for rent in 2014", I was told when I called today to rent it for next March. .

  5. And all this time I thought you were an analog guy Dave. I can see it now. Terrorist hackers controlling vehicles. Unmanned vehicles turned into bombs. Rush hour traffic coming to a complete halt with one push of a button. Let the government install the infrastructure, yeah it'll be safe.

  6. You never know what you're missing until you use a sub. Listen to it for a couple weeks then turn the sub off. It won't take you long to realize the benefits.

  7. Welcome to the forums. I loved my previous Yamaha RX-V1800 for movies (ok for music). Onkyo is another great unit for HT. My personal preference is Harman Kardon which to my ears sounds fantastic for both HT and Music.

  9. First off welcome! 1000 is a good budget for a receiver. I'd definitely buy with pre outs. I would want a 3 channel amp in the future with that setup. I am a fan of denon and marantz myself. I'm a fan of what audyssey does for a room. I'd go for a denon 3313, marantz 5007 or up. You could buy refurbished from accesories 4 less. Would save some money. Also not sure how good of a deal you got or where you bought from but you should go through acoustic sound design for your remaining speakers. Mike will smoke any deal out there. Just have to make sure you call the number on the website.

  10. Trust me im not going to screw you over. i just spent 55 to send a $240 speaker. since i did not have the original box. i insured it for 250. The story is true with the tv. i had a 4000$ samsung tv that i bought and it shelled out in 6 months for no reason. i read samsungs warranty and they said they did not have to warrant the tv even if i didnt use a samsung hdmi cord. Which i used a no name brand hdmi. so i unhooked my dvd and reviever and put it in a spare bedroom since it took them 2 months to figure out they didnt know what was wrong with it and that they would refund me. After 2 months with no tv i never got around to hooking it back up so i just let it sit . Bottom line is you got a good deal and i know im a stranger but i would never screw anyone over even if i didnt know them.

  11. My other brother-in-law might be able to pick up a very nice pair of RF-83's, buyer is asking a $1000. Is this a good price?

  12. People who own an RC-7 typically keep them. Not sure Christmas would make them all of a sudden want to sell it. "Oh Hey, it's that time of year again, you know, where I get rid of all of this REALLY hard to come across older gear and buy some new dime-a-dozen stuff!"

  13. You have no idea how right you are Youth. Buying lightly used anything can save you lots of money. With a little patience you can get good deals on anything online. That's how I got my RF-5s. The previous guy had them and wasn't using them and was moving away. I got them for a steal at $200. My current truck was 2 years old. It was a repo and has well over a 100k miles now. My boat was two years old when I bought it. Anyone on this forum that boats knows how much they depreciate too. The original owner of it lost more in two years than I have in the last 8.

  15. I am just interested in general. I don't care if we meet at the Y and exchange 8 track tapes. I just want to see some of my virtual friends in the flesh. Dave

  17. This is a good suggestion. I'm looking at some possibilities and can only say that I'm going to try to make a gathering happen at Hope on the 28th and 29th of March. Maybe if one piece of this can be firmed-up, we can get interest enough to have some leverage to get a good gathering of the Pilgrims. SSH

  18. Tossing out some possible dates...March 28 & 29 or March 21 & 22...Thoughts?

  19. Schedule permitting, I would come. One of the most fun gatherings that I have attended was an "unofficial" event in Hope hosted by some of the Arkansas area forum members (I think in 2005). Doing this at the Farmhouse would be great.

  20. This is not intended to compete with The Pilgrimage, just to ensure that we have an opportunity to get together for a meaningful purpose in a meaningful place.

  21. Maybe during spring break. Enough time to plan and line up some music. Open to suggestions, though

  23. That's relative humidity, right? Humidity is always crazy. We are having the best summer weather I can remember. Lots of rain for 10 days we will have highs in the 80's with lows in the 60's. It is a summer miracle. edit: actually next to nights will dip down to 57.

  24. This summer has been very mild as well especially compared to last year. Only hit 100 three times.
