If you are into 5 channel stereo or something like that, bookshelves would be fine. I think for actual surround content in movies and the like, RS wide dispersion works great. I have used both in my HT setup, and I prefer the RS. If you have a single bookshelf right there pointed at your listening position, I think you gain a bit of clarity from surround content but it is very localized and you always know exactly where the sound is coming from. RS by design really open up the surround content by not aiming it right at your head but bouncing it off the walls around and behind you. It makes for a more enveloping experience. You could try both though and see what you prefer, it is not like bookshelves will sound bad or anything. I wouldn't say it is a major upgrade going with RS, just a tad more open and subtle.2 points

For what its worth I would maintain that buy it Made in the USA. There are some great builders here and a couple are forum members. They are highly motivated to make you happy and their quality is fine. Also, don't think that you won't want to swap, upgrade or change for the fun of it. As my wife put it, its cheaper than a exotic sports car and better than a mistress. So no guilt here. All pleasure. Enjoy,2 points

I have Klipsch bookshelf speakers purchased in early 90s but don't know the model. The serial number is printed on the back. How can I use the serial number to locate the model? is there a site where I can enter the number and find out more about the model?1 point

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/ele/4344360566.html Has no contact info, which is slightly odd. But they look to be in great condition. I'd be all over these, but I just don't need them. Sent from my iPhone, excuse the typos1 point

I really like this thread. I've long suspected that there were at least two versions of the K-33 with differing T-S parameters. Maybe there was an early version optimized for the K-Horn with low Fs and Q. Maybe there was a later one which was optimized for Cornwall -- but which worked okay for the K-Horn. If someone has a good relation with Hunter they could inquire. WMcD1 point

Hello. I have a pair of gen 1 s4 earbuds. Being an idiot I accidentally left them in my pocket when they went through the washing machine. The drivers still work fine however the cable is a mess. I would be able to replace the cable but I do not know how to separate the small casing on the earbud. If anybody has advice on how to do this I would love to hear it. These are my favorite and most comfortable earbuds. Thanks1 point

Congratulation! That is very similar to my old Icon V system. I liked it so much, when I switched to my Reference gear I kept the VF 35's and use them in the family room.1 point

At the bottom right of posting box click "more reply options" The " attach files" will pop up at the bottom of posting box - browse your files and attach, after cursor position. Attachments have a small byte size, you may have to resize. I also use Photobucket, just add the URL after cursor to get big looking pix in your post. If you want to post the uTube player use Chrome or Firefox. Copy URL from UTube video and paste after cursor.1 point

Order a new, replacement driver from Klipsch along with the crossover. The two together will probably cost just over $200 or so. The crossover will come with the terminal cup and attached binding posts. Start by getting it back to where it's supposed to be. Many don't understand how difficult it is to actually upgrade a driver - -it's not like you can just pick something you like better and plop it in - there are mathematical relationships, and they effect the crossover too. If you want improvement, replace the stock resistors with Mills non - inductive resistors and replace the two orange/red oval capacitors with some AudynPlus capacitors from www.partsexpress.com1 point

I am happy with the Selenium D 250-X. But seeing you have type C crossover, it would not drop in. I am using it with type E crossover wiring. You could consider reconfiguration of Type C to E it may work for you. http://www.parts-express.com/selenium-d250-x-gw-1-phenolic-horn-driver-1-3-8-18-tpi--264-2041 point

I did look there, I didn't know which would be the closest, I need to look up what the frequency range the old C crossover covers for the midrange...........That would have been a smarter question to ask.1 point

From posting: I have a pair of lightly used pair of Klipsch 5.5 speakers I want to sell. I am the original owner of these an bought them at Alma's in Royal Oak. These are a huge upgrade compared to what you can purchase at Best Buy. They are a steal at this price point! Link: http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/ele/4343336945.html No affiliation. The KG 5.5 are very similar to the KLF-10, they have lots of bass.1 point

The "E" is only on the PWK label, not the "ink stamps" on either woofer. Other than the color, I would guess very little difference.1 point

Use a PC and rip the blu-rays to iso files. 4TB drives are so cheap now, I built a home server with several of them. The setup I use is My Movies + Windows Media Center + Arcsoft TotalMedia Theater 5 (TMT 5). TMT 5 takes about 8 seconds to load, while PowerDVD 9 took less than 4 seconds. I still use TMT though as it allows for real time scaling, and the scaling looks amazing too. A PC is the way to go unless you really must bit-stream DSD without converting it to PCM (then consider one of the newer Oppo players). I also use Flexraid, so if any two drives fail, I can rebuild them both.1 point

I have it on CD and agree that its SQ isn't great, but I like the music. That's why I'm interested in the new version. Can someone give me the details on the new version? How do you know it's the new version and is its SQ better? The new version I have has a bunch of live tracks added to the end. The SQ is better than my vinyl original. Release Date: 8/10/1999 Label: Capitol UPC: 724352081127 Catalog Number: 20811 Tracks Disc 1 1 Day of the Eagle (5:00) 2 Bridge of Sighs (5:01) 3 In This Place (4:27) 4 The Fool and Me (3:53) 5 Too Rolling Stoned (7:31) 6 About to Begin (3:43) 7 Lady Love (3:17) 8 Little Bit of Sympathy (4:27) 9 Day of the Eagle (3:48) 10 Bridge of Sighs (5:16) 11 Too Rolling Stoned (6:26) 12 Lady Love (3:12) 13 Little Bit of Sympathy (4:49)1 point

Its losing its luster from all the lossless formats. Now the battle of SACD, Blu Ray and DVDA is the new and it looks like SACD is getting tag teamed I dont follow any of the so called higher quality formats I am one of those 2 channel die hard types you spoke of, Dont get me wrong i will watch a movie in an HT setup, Just not going to listen to music there as a general rule. Certainly willing to Demo them, Just not willing to invest in the price for everything needed to do that. Hell 2 channel is expensive enough, (I get obsessed with my hobbies, and am never content, if i hear this or that is better) I wont even convert to blu ray, I don't really want to count the hairs on an actors arm. That and we have around 1000 DVD's already1 point

After finishing up a great cup of coffee, then it was off to the UPS office to mail that package of cables, which turned out to be much better than the 'Lowes experience.'1 point

I'd recommend a digital unit - not analog, meaning that you can set time delays for each tri-amp channel. This reduces the active loudspeaker processor marketplace by only a little. I would not recommend miniDSP if you aren't an electronics/software tinkerer. I would also recommend something other than the Behringer DCX2496 if you have a very discerning ear or you live in a latitude where it gets hot in the summer (Behringer units have a habit of eating their power supplies). Other than that, it's what your budget will allow - price generally follows performance. Used units on ebay or even craigslist locally have been pretty good bets - so I'd really recommend looking there after you get a list of models in your hand that you're interested in. Make sure that you are looking for 2-in, 6-out units. For instance, my EV Dx38s are good units but they are 2-in, 4-out units. Chris I have a DCX2496, and I find it to be a bit counter-intuitive. I hate reading manuals. I haven't tried a software based electronic crossover, but the guy (who I can't remember for the life of me) that I bought this from was replacing it with a software based electronic crossover. According to him, the software offered things the hardware based one didn't.1 point
