  3. These speakers are located near Shawnigan Lake, about an hour's drive north of Victoria. I was sorely tempted to buy them myself, but my living room is already full of La Scalas and Belles, and no other room has space for them. I have no affiliation with the buyer, and only know what's written in the ad. http://victoria.en.craigslist.ca/ele/4279428101.html

  4. Hi All, I am relatively new to HT having just set my first one up over the past year and a half and I have a question. I currently have a Marantz AVR which I got as part of a package deal when I bought my speakers. I run Audyssey and it supposedly sets everything up. But what if i don't want the crowd noise in the stadium of Superbowl to be so loud? As far as I can figure the only way to turn down the volume of the rear or side surrounds is to go back into setup and play test tones through the speakers and adjust. This is inconvenient to do on the fly when you have guests. It would never have occurred to me that I would not be able to turn certain speakers up or down in a system like this. Does anybody's AVR let them adjust levels on the fly with actual program material going through? babadono

  5. I have a single kg 2.5 free to anybody who wants it. It is in pretty bad shape... but it works. The cabinet has some water damage... I am using the other one as a center between 2 kg 4's. I forgot it was in my garage and it got wet. Also, the grill is busted and the black stain is coming off. My zip code is 15108 (western PA), if anybody local wants it or just pay the shipping and it's yours.

  6. H. Ramis has passed way too young at 69. Lot's of credits to the man but he's most fondly remembered as Egon Spengler from the 2 80's Ghostbusters movies.

  8. hey guys, why is it that klipsch will not sell you a set of boxes, I have read this on here several times, would sure love to have a set of boxes for my scalas that way I can haul them back and forth to my ranch a couple times a year to let em breath. You hardly ever see just boxes for sale, I just wonder if I were in Arkansaw and went by the factory could I buy a set, I have a friend in hot springs I go party with from time to time, thanks guys.....Roost

  9. At that volume, it's probably better to just buy a 2tb drive and duplicate the data, then store it at a friend's house. Update every couple of months, replace the drives every couple of years. even better would be to find someone on a forum like this that needs the same type of backup scenario that is geographically diverse, and then just ship each other's drives back and forth.

  10. Well that sure helps with the decision. Yea, I think I made a safe bet. High maintenance = plastic surgery gone bad.

  11. FWIW, here's how I prepped my La Scala for moving / shipping. Supplies: - 1/8" Hardboard paneling - Bubble wrap - 1" foam insulating board (for top grill models) - Heavy duty cardboard from an appliance box - Stretch wrap film - Filament packaging tape 1. I applied a single layer of bubble wrap. Starting from the bottom, I formed the wrap tightly over the cabinet, but didn't tape anywhere directly to the wood. I taped a small piece of thin cardboard to the bubble wrap in the area in front of the badge, otherwise the bubble wrap would have grabbed the badge and pulled it off. 2. My cabs have grills, so I cut the foam insulating board to fit over the bass bin mouth area and fill in the area underneath the grill trim work. It was placed over the top of the bubble wrap. Decorator series wouldn't require this step. 3. I cut the hardboard to fit the top, bottom, and side surfaces, then situated them around the cabinet and affixed them to one another using the filament tape. 4. I cut the heavy duty cardboard in long, wide strips to form corner protectors all the way around. I doubled them up and affixed them with tape to hold in place temporarily. 5. Lastly, I wrapped the entire assemblage using the stretch wrap film starting over the top front to back, then over the top side to side, and then finally spiraling around (very tightly) from the bottom up. Total ran me ~$25 in materials and took about 3 hours to complete solo. Having a second person around to hold the paneling and corner protectors in place, and tilt the box while wrapping would have greatly sped up the process.

  13. 1978 – wrote Animal House 1979 – wrote Meatballs 1980 – wrote Caddyshack 1981 – wrote Stripes That right there puts him in the Hall of Fame as far as I am concerned. He also did National Lampoon's Vacation, Groundhog Day and the Ghostbuster movies. Not to mention a number of other movies. RIP Harold! Mike

  15. welcome Thomas, you can't get any of the cooper logos from klipsch anymore. ebay is your best source for these if you want to pay $90 for the laser logo's, they only put them on the years of 76-77-78

  20. Thanks, I think you would just spend less money making nice places to listen to Music, Movies, and Football. Somebody asked me recently how I learned how to do so much....By being so cheap I had no choice but to do it myself. ;-) I do that with lots of stuff. My Honda Shadow VT1100C Motorcycle. Bought a wrecked one and did the body work and repainted it. $5K bike for under 2k. Bayliner 2050 Wakeboard boat. Engine problems, Rotten floors and ripped seats. Fully restored and customized over a winter. $20k boat ($40k if bought new) for $4K including rebuild. In reality my Dad and Grandfather taught me a lot. When I was 17 my Dad and I cut cedar trees off Grandfathers land he helped me built my fiancé a cedar chest. The only thing is when something breaks I can't just tell my wife we need a new one.

  26. very nice deal there but be carefull, i've been seeing a lot of ads like that lately on CL. you will get a reply saying "they just sold but heres a link to a place you can get great discounts on other items" all you have done is sent you email to a spammer that will sell it & you get never ending junk mail or worst case a virus on your computer. just use a junk email account for that type of ad. legit sellers usually post a phone number or use craigslist's email message system. sure would be a steal if they are legit!

  27. got a pretty rare klipsch t-shirt that doesnt fit me. it is light tan color with black logo. logo is in great shape but shirt has a very small pin hole on upper right front corner, common on older fabrics. it is size medium but wears a little small for mediums. measures 24" length & 17" pit to pit. would be great for a smaller guy or gal or as decoration to hang on a wall. the pic on the back is of PWK. $20 + small amount for s/h.

  33. Gotta love it, no back up guitarists. Wow. I am not saying there is anything wrong with artists who have back up guitarists to take the load off, interject some other vibe/ talent, but to put on a 2 hour show carrying the full workload of vocals and guitar is saying something.

  36. Some type of drag queen? No wait, the first drag queen? Or was it the First Lady of Drag Racing? Yes, that’s it, the Drag Racing Queen of NASCAR and the sweetheart of many young lads from the mid 1960’s to the early 1980’s….. sorry, but I already knew as I had googled specifically for a picture for a visual to my text and also for the freudian implications to draw attention to the "statistics" picture. Then again, I actually grew up in the 60’s and still love 60’s muscle cars, Linda and Raquel of course, in One Million Years BC wearing just one costume the entire movie, then there was 'Ginger vs. Mary Ann" and "Marsha vs. Jan" and oh, I think I'm getting old......
