I've been reading Tom's Hardware since the beginning. I'm a computer geek really and never really seen A PC review site (of any credibility) venture into the true audio quality of PC sound systems w/o focusing on 3d gaming or Movie DTS typical BS. I have a restored Fisher KX-200 integrated tube amp for sale. Most of the work was done by Audiodon over at AK. All electrolytic caps have been replaced. Power supply rebuilt, coupling caps are Jensen copper-in-oil, some of the best you can buy. It has a thermistor to save the on/off control. I have the original wood cabinet that is in very nice condition. It does have a repair on the inside where the screen slides in, see pic. It can't be seen with the amp in the cabinet. Tubes are all quality vintage US made. A sleeve of 5 Raytheon 12AX7's and a pair of Sylvania JAN 12AX7WA's. The output tubes are Westinghouse 7591's regardless of brand. All tested very strong. I have the list of Don's work, copy of the owners manual, service manual and schematic. Don also installed some modern binding posts on the 8 ohm tap which are real nice. It started life as a KX-200 but now has a X-200 faceplate and chassis. All knobs and knob brights are in great shape. Even the power lamp works. I know I have forgotten something. I prefer local pick-up in Redding California. I am willing to meet within a reasonable distance for the right deal. This is an awesome sounding amp with lots of bass, great treble extension and warm mid-range, truly plug and play. I am only selling it because I have completely modernized my system. Let's face it. We all have craws. And one thing that has been stuck in mine for some time is the bizarreness of serving and eating corn on the cob for some people. The thing is, being raised by Texans, I never was exposed as a child to all the paraphernalia that seems to follow the seemingly straightforward task of eating corn on the cob. I mean, there seems to be an entire industry devoted to it. There are those usually corn cob shaped sticker things that people think they have to insert in the ends to hold it so that what? They don't have to actually touch the ends of the corn? Then it just goes further and further where there are special troughs made just for the corn to sit in because what? You don't have to put it on your plate with the rest of your food? There's also special butter applicators if you really need to spend time on what must be some kind of religious ritual of anointing the corn. Now not to point any fingers here, but the common factor in all this is mid-westerners of the USA. That's where it rears its ugly head. Can anyone here shed any light onto the significance of attempting to elevate what is a simple process of picking up a cob of corn and eating it? Children of the Corn?

Just appeared on my brick wall, high because ceiling is high & one of my cats is sitting on the mantel, trying to figure out how to catch it. Not the first time; they come down the chimney.

At that point I'd tell them "Fine, hope you choke on them". That really grinds my gears.

Boxx--what no MD 20-20? Where the love for the mad dog? Years ago, my mom sent me to the store to get her and the grandparents a bottle of wine. I bought what they had been drinking; but, hid that one and gave her a bottle of MD 20-20--told them they were out of the other stuff and the guy recommended this. They didn't like it--what a waste of $1.99

Tonight we watched Gravity. My wife and I both liked it a lot. It has great LFE and the picture quality is way up there as well. This will be a reference movie for sure.

I just leave some of the stalk on and use it to hold the cob, roll it on a stick of butter and add a little salt.

Got a Red Rider handy; but I won't harm it and the cats gave up.

Robbiey, if the files are too large for the forum, you will need to use an image editor to resize them prior to uploading to the forum. For the PC, try Irfanview. It's free and really easy to use.

Ok if we are gonna show some decks here are my two current ones. Both are highly modified all the internal electronics are bypassed, I take the output signal directly from the playback head and send it to an all tube tape pre. The sound is simply stunning...

Would love to get my hands on those.

Thaddeus, I followed this topic early on as it was something that i was also interested in. Thanks for raising the subject and thanks again for the link to Golden Ears. That is a great tool for some of us uneducated to discover a bit more about refining our listening skills. It also helps to explain in practice a lot of the terms that are discussed in many of the topics that i read and followed but perhaps didn't fully understand. regards Paul T
