  4. In my all in all true opinion they are all good and you really cannot compare the 4 unless they are all 4 in the same room at the same time using the same amp in the very same spot that each one is being tested in the process of testing all 4 and so on etc... When i bought my forte 2's the guy also had the original chorus in the same room. They both sounded really good. I bought the forte 2's cause they were smaller and of course had the passive radiators. I wish i could just have them all. They all serve a great purpose as well as all producing wonderful detail with klipsch efficiency. In good to very good condition they are all 4 valued about the same interestingly enough. Just something to me about the passive 15 and active 15 on the chorus 2. I am discussing now with a couple forum members about my next step. I will be moving finally once again in 7 months into a larger home over 2 times the size im in now and preparing for some possible radical changes to my main 2 ch system, as well as maybe not, just keep what i have now. When dealing with things such as a klipschorn, jubilee or larger 1 step at a time with month intervals or more are so much easier to me than just bam get it done now. Let alone the wallet coming into factor

  5. True statement , have the forte 1 and 2 version here but it has been many years since comparing I would be lying if gave an opinion. And where there mounted there not coming down anytime soon. So once again no help whatsoever , see a pattern here !

  6. And both II's have the Tractrix versus exponential midhorn. If I had the forte, I would wait on a chance to listen to a ForteII. Worth the comparison, IMLO While I have the Chorus and am happy, I also welcome the chance to do a score on the II's for my purposes. Know this is not helping much but, yes some here have preferences, as you say. Really have not heard a Klipsch, I do not like. Bump

  9. At last, I got around to sealing them into the corners. I used the foam pipe insulation at the big box store. I did it with two layers one a "solid core" meant for 1/2 inch pipe and then I put another foam tube over the top of it. As the second tube was split and had glue on the edges, it was easy to just place it over the edged of the boards. The Khorns never had any indication of being sealed, at least there was no glue or staples showing it. The do sound MUCH better sealed in like they are. Just like I remembered them from the "Sound Systems INC. " showroom ! I even played the same song, again that I first heard on them. Linda R. Your no good. I was back in 1977! Another thing. On Craigs list, I answered an add, the guy had a storage locker he needed to clean out. While there, I found a Monster power filter/surge protector. I am no fan of Monster but the price was right at $125 so I took a chance. I had been running a computer isolator / power conditioner for the amps so I did not expect much if any improvement in the sound. I am not sure if it is the power of thought or if it is real but the quiet passages, like between tracks on a LP are quiet, very quiet, almost like a vacuum sucking you in quiet. The Monster unit did get some nice write ups when it came out by some of the stereo rags. It sure seems to have made more of a difference than any cables or speaker wire I have changed out. It is real or is it the power of the mind?

  13. I have also been down each road listening to the 1's of both and owning 2's of each. You can be happy with any of the 4. Once you get a chorus you may just pitch a tent and stay for a while or build a house around them and stay for lifetime. I find people who prefer one over the other have not heard the other or all etc...Once you hear a chorus ii you are likely to build a house and stay for a lifetime. Through numbers the chorus 2 are better than a cornwall and not quite good as a lascala so throwing the chorus ii into the heritage latter they are right at the top. Myself at the moment with a bit of limited room i have parked on the chorus 2 due to footprint and sound as well as easy to move and sound amazing on tubes at low and high watts and solid state at low and extremely high wattage. The chorus 2 offer so much more in my opinion than darn near anything you can put in a room plug and play with very little work.

  18. First cup down. GF came by on her way home from Georgia last night. Haven't seen her in ten days.....she is a cutie. So for the past week while she was away I raked 1/3 of an acre of leaves, straw, sticks, and pine cones. Too tired to bag it all so I hired two guys to bag (40 large contractor bags so far). Changed out the top and bottom grill of the Webber charcoal grill. Bought house wash for the pressure washer and RoundUp for the weeds. Ah spring Cheers Gents

  19. I did but in the end went with the 600 because of two reasons. 1) it's capable of 200mm zoom. Right now Yonguo doesn't offer one that will do that. Shot many photos at the high school beauty pageant this weekend and happy with very few of those photos. Flash just couldn't make the trip. 2) Canon flash automatically detects camera body and corrects for cropped sensor like the 7D. The Yonguo doesn't appear to do that one either. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yongnuo-YN565EX-TTL-Flash-for-Canon-5D-II-7D-60D-F359-/300899427512?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460f00e4b8

  21. Yes. In fact if the preamp is not plugged in the noise is worse. But as I said, I moved them to another part of the house and most of the noise is gone. I have tried tripping breakers one at a time, but that makes no difference. Actually with power amplifiers without input level controls running them with nothing plugged into the inputs will result in noise, the RCA jacks act like an antenna floating in the breeze. The best way to determine if a power amp is making the noise internally is to short the inputs with shorting jacks. Any noise left after that is either internal noise of the amplifier or noise the circuit/tubes are picking up via the air. Once this is done and if it confirms the amps are quiet all by themselves then you add the preamp install the shoring jacks into the input chosen on the preamp with no sources attached to the preamp and so on until you find what is causing the noise...slow methodical is always best. Ground loop is almost never straight 60 hz hum and can often have a good bit of buzz along with it. Have 3 to 2 wire cheater plugs to try lifting devices from ground as you go... Anything described as coming out of the mid horn or tweeter would not be considered hum. 60hz and 120hz Hum comes out of the woofer only. I work through this type f problem with

  32. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there were only six pair produced since these were a special order item that Dennis Had was willing to do. I've talked to Dennis Had on several occasions over the years and it was very obvious that he has a real passion for these DHT SE amplifiers that he has designed over these many years. In several of these conversations I was doing modifications to Cary amplifiers and Pre-amplifiers that I've owned due to the fact that I like to optimize/squeeze the last bit of performance from them when mated to my KHorns and now Jubilees. I know from a conversation with him about my Cary CAD 2A3i push/pull amplifier that fewer than 100 of them were produced. These 45s look to be fundamentally based on his previous 2A3 SE and 300B SE designs but of course optimized for the 45. miketn

  33. Finally feeling human after about three weeks of family illness. Had and F0 tornado come through town the other night; my neighbor lost most of the roof on her barn (some of which landed 40 yes away in my field), but we came away with a few broken pots and one juniper tree split down the trunk (but far enough away from the house to not be a threat). Otherwise, we came away safe and protected. I'll keep religion out of it, but all in all just lots of stupid stuff that causes me to pause and remember how immensely blessed and protected God keeps me and my family. Oops.

  34. its amazing how different the responses you get when asked these questions. i just recently talked with another member and he bought a pioneer and absolutely hated it. I've owned a harmon pardon and thought it sounded just fine. what i hated about it was the user interface. maybe because i wasn't used to it, but it just confused the heck out of me. I've owned a pioneer and thought it was just so so on sound and interface. i currently own onkyo and denon. i like them both. denon is fine upstairs for home theater and music. a little under powered when i get crazy with the volume but fine if i stay at -10 or below. now my onkyo, its fantastic for movies, but with music its not as great to me. at least until i discovered that i hate listening to music with any kind of room correction on. i turn the onkyo on pure (no eq and speakers full range no sub) and i enjoy it as much as my old pioneer sx receiver in my 2 channel setup. and to me that is about as good as it gets. now i will also say pure is NOT the same on my denon. it leaves the subs on and doesn't sound anywhere close to as good as my 805 does. i really want to try a higher end receiver as i read they focus much more on analog side as well as HT. something like anthem is on my list. you give up a lot on features but i think it would be worth it.

  40. I have purchased a "pellet smoker" which is the best thing since sliced bread. Absolutely love it!!. I use 100% Hickory pellets with it. The thing has a digital controller which I can set to desired temp and the smoker will keep it there feeding the firepot pellets as needed via auger. It's amazing how good the thing works too.
