  1. Up to a couple of years ago I was a little skidish on the "List" however after really getting some killer deals and realizing tweekers don't own good stuff, The "CL" is the first place I shop, and find if I wait long enough, I get any/everything Im looking for, (and a whole bunch of things I don't).(Ham radios, ATVs). Ebay, sellers market, CL buyers market.

  2. On the campus of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM sits the Paul and Valerie Klipsch Museum. This museum contains many interesting products and information about PWK. As you can see from the photos that follow, there is quite a bit to see. The museum is in one of the engineering building on campus and can be visited by appointment by calling 575-646-2913. This number is to the office of the Dean of the College of Engineering which is only open during normal business hours on regular school days. One of the ladies that works in the Dean’s office showed me the museum and provided quite a bit of information about PWK and his speakers. However, I was informed that if someone was interested in seeing the museum on a non-school day, they can sometimes accommodate those requests as long as there is some advance notice. I was told that Valerie tries to make it to the university each year during homecoming. If you are ever in the area, I’d recommend stopping by. You would also have an opportunity to try out some of the local New Mexican style food, which in my opinion is the best Mexican food available anywhere. This is where it all started...

  3. Looking through Craigslist today I was amazed as some of the ads. For example: "If you know anything about Klipsch speakers then you should not have any questions. They work thats all you need to know." http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/4438283437.html "I'm considering selling my Audio Research VSi55 integrated tube stereo amplifier." http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/4382172025.html Gee, let us know as soon as you decide! Then there was the guy that wanted a 75% deposit before he would allow me to see his Heresys. OF COURSE I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ANY FORUM MEMBERS WHO USE CRAIGSLIST!

  6. Well it appears these have been on the "List" for a month, my guess would be $8 or 9 bones offer. Drives me nuts seeing these just out of reach........

  7. http://austin.craigslist.org/ele/4421813107.html WoW, someone could score these and refurb one pair and pay for the second pair, meaning, free Scalla pair.

  8. When I go shopping on CL, I try to ignore the attitudes people project in their posts. Instead, I try to focus on my task and leave everything else as noise that, for me, amount to nothing more than distractions from my goal. What does irritate me are incomplete descriptions such as: "I have a pair of awesome Klipsch speakers for sale - excellent condition only $300!" With no mention of the model and no pictures. Part of me says 'move along' and another part of me says 'but what if they are Cornwalls!' Long story short, there are as many personalities on Craigslist as there are people in the world, I don't have to like them, but if they have what I want at a price I'm willing to pay, I'll do business with them. 9. What 'Klipsch design' do you fellas think this looks anything like? Because I've been through the museum (photographed it painstakingly too), and there is nothing in the Klipsch lineup or prototypes that looks anything like this cabinet. No two-woofer models, nothing with slots on the side like this in this era. This is some home-brew dealio. NOT Klipsch. BTW, I have a kit-built shorthorn that my uncle put together in his apartment at Purdue when he was rooming with my Dad. Just has an inexpensive Utah coaxial driver in it, but it's at least genuine.

  12. If you are set on flying out, you could buy 2 extra seats and set 1 cornscala in each seat, I will pick you up at the airport

  13. I am currently living vicariously through you I have an idea, you can drive out and deliver Justins cornscalas, then you have the opportunity to buy twice as much, take the southern route thru Texas, to Georgia, then up thru the Carolina's into Virginia, where you can pick up the Horns, and I will grab the cornscala's, Then you can take the northern route home Va. thru Ohio, and to Indiana, Next is Chicago then a little dodge south into Colorado. Then it's open all the way to California Hey I just figured out how to spend a bunch of your money

  14. CL drives me nuts most times. I would rather buy than sell there. Everyone wants 'deal of the century' and seem to think they can rook you everytime. List something reasonably priced for $500 and watch the offers roll in for $250 all day long. The worst is when you agree on a price and the person shows up light intentionally to try and knock you down. I was selling some silver bullion once for like 5% over spot. I had a ton of response and sold out in just a few days as my price was just slightly cheaper than anything on the web. This one guy wanted to buy a bunch of it, like a couple grand worth. Price was set. Went to meet him, he pulls out $500 and says "take it or leave it". I just laughed in his face and drove off. Now, I won't drive out of my way to meet anyone off craigs to sell.

  15. I will discuss it with him. Thanks for your observations! Not good over fresh paint. How to see if water seal is needed - apply in small area, if it soaks right in you need it. If it beads up and stays on the surface, you don't use it. (wipe it off if it won't soak in). Of course IMHO Thanks!

  16. Been helping a friend overhaul our deck. Painting it a deck color called pool party. Even though painting 3/4 PT plywood with 2 coats, he also wants to seal it more with a water seal like Thompsons. Someone told him it would make the deck too slick to walk on when wet, he does not think so. i have not been that much help to him. I do however pour him a cup of black joe each day which he drinks straight down like a cowboy. Good Job *Tarheel!

  17. the best ads are the ones where they compare their 20+ year old speakers to what the new current ones cost. or their rusted out classic car to what a similar car sold for on ebay or barret jackson auction. "i have a pair of 1986 corner horns for $4,500, thats half the price of what they cost new" or "these cost $9000 new etc etc" thats like listing your 1986 ford truck & saying "a new ford trucks cost $30,000 new so this is a great deal at $15,000" sometimes its not the personality as much as it is the IQ!

  18. Going over to the adjacent county for a plant sale and some really good barbeque. Pressure washed one third of the house yesterday....more tomorrow. Anyone using windows 8 know how to increase size of text? Swiped screen/mouse pad by accident and everything got tiny Cheers Gents!

  19. My experience is the vast difference in what a seller considers to be "pristine" or "excellent" condition." I went to hear a McIntosh listed as "pristine". First the seller claimed he could not let me listen to it since it was in the box. Finally he agreed and it had the worst buzz in one channel. He tried to convince me it was the speaker until I asked him to switch the speaker leads.

  26. Instead get one of these with soap, it may not clean as well but will greatly decrease the effect of you on a big ladder and gravity. Although I REALLY like the idea of your neighbor up on the ladder, (first choice) with you holding it steady watching she doesn't fall, just for safety of course.

  27. I like your plan Joe, however that means I need to buy the van here, and that was what I was trying to avoid, h-ll iv got two full size pickups, but they are open in the back so a van sounds like the way to go. Just rent a uhaul and do a road trip around the USA picking up horns!

  30. Amen! I'm currently in the market for a DBX equalizer from the 80's and the only one I've found so far is on Ebay and the guy wants more for it than when it was brand new. No bids, of course.

  31. That's a Deal! How do you wire them; are you forced to bi-wire, or bi-amp them? Would an AVR or AMP see each as 2 speakers?

  34. It happens because it's part of the forum. There wasn't always a "section", people used to list things for sale all over the place. Naturally, we would all critique the item, help with establishing true vale, as well as offering any assistance if requested, which would happen quite a bit. We would also run people out on a rail if they weren't established members or would post some obscene price clearly designed to take advantage. This isn't eBay, AudiogoN, or Craigslist. No one has to post here, and it seems hard to believe that those who do, wouldn't have an expectation of some scrutiny by the community - and like I said, it's still and open forum. Everyone agrees it's a great deal, what's the the big deal with some bantering?

  35. Not everyone is a jerk on Craigslist but I have run into a few. In general, the vast majority of Craigslist sales I have been involved in have been positive ones. But my favorite was a guy that had a pair of RF-7's in Maple finish. I asked my usual questions, are there any dents, dings, major scratches, grill pegs broken etc? He basically said they were in "excellent" condition and said the woofers are all in great condition, grill pegs intact etc. I get there and literally one woofer had two major dents in the dustcap, one woofer had creases in it and two other woofers had some type of mold looking spots on both drivers. Grill pegs were broken and there were definitely some dings and scratches on the cabinet.

  36. I appreciate your effort and cannot wait to see them. I assume they are in arizona possibly around the university. I need to get in the position to visit wherever it is you are speaking of...unfortunately the hope museum for the slow peeps like me getting onboard FULL Klipsch i missed the Hope museum when was able to be seen. I am beyond good feeling that we can apparently no longer visit the hope museum....? I feel so strong on the reverse of this notion and help re open what all should be able to see. Even if the Hope museum lies dormant for a month with no visitors at a time this museum in Hope should be welcome to all at any weekday in particular. The best to you. Close, the museum is in New Mexico. Photos have now been posted. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/149606-the-paul-and-valerie-klipsch-museum/

  38. Those are great shots Joe. A few things you might try with your bug shots. Bump your ISO to 400 even when sunny outside, this will speed up the shutter taking care of the out of focus object. sometimes I even go to 800 ISO. This will also allow you to stop down which will get more of the whole perimeter in focus, like dtel mentioned. When taking shots of moving bugs try setting your camera in its highest speed of multi shots and set the focus on your T3i to AI focus AF. This will allow it to track track the insects as it is moving. Also move your focus point to just the center red point. Tis way it will only focus on that center point and your target. Can you tell I have a Canon too?

  41. It's my bad for not asking more. Should have researched a little more I suppose. I asked a price and have a sale pending. I will not turn this into a bidding war or renege on my price. My thoughts were that I really didn't have much in these and wanted to pass along some savings to a fellow forum member. I won't miss a meal by not asking $50.00 more. I've even bought an amp one time one the forum and gave it to a fellow forum member before I even opened it. Virtually everything I've ever sold on this forum has been underpriced. I like to pay it forward whenever I'm able to. Carl

  44. Roll Call is a newspaper on Capitol Hill started by a guy I used know, he's passed now, Sid Yudain. I do believe he started it in 1955 and sold it in the late 70's. Is that the answer you were looking for?
