  1. I used to get that all the time. My solution was to go audition new speakers. After a frustrating day of listening to very expensive systems, somehow my system sounded SO MUCH BETTER when I got home. In other words.... go buy new music!

  4. Arkansas hurricane: I am always so impressed with people, standing in front of what was once their home and is now a pile of rubble, expressing ther gratitude that they are not hurt and do not complain about losing everything they own. Wish I could send them a cup of coffee.

  5. Audyssey XT32 here, I love it for both music and movie. I didn't like it at first, but after recalibrating according to the guide over at avs forum, everthing sounds great. I have dynamic eq on with reference offset at 15db for music. XT32 is very high resolution so you have to measure carefully. Anyway, that's just my room and my ears.

  7. Muel What is the DR Database. I looked at it but not sure what it is telling me It shows you the dynamic range of a given track and then the cumulative album. Green = good, Red = bad. Helpful for when you're a ) trying to find new music with great dynamic range or b ) wondering why your album sounds awful

  9. Better talk with him, as Minermark said you will have a really big mess if he tries that. That would be like oiling a painted black speaker it's crazy. He did the 2 coats of deck paint yesterday. We will watch for beading during and after rain that is forecasted as was mentioned by *mach-1. Thanks Good deal, just remember even Thomsons stops beading up after a while, but it's still working. I would think the 2 coats of deck paint will take care of it for a good while, you will probably see when it needs more as it will just look like it could use a new coat, next year some time at the earliest, you did good.

  12. Do we have a new reality show in the making? The first episode of minermark & beeker, the "American Audio Pickers." Hi, I'm minermark! Hi, I'm beeker, We are the American Audio pickers and we travel around the country looking for anything audio. Your trash audio may be our next audio gold..... Actually, I set aside a little audio budget each year for 'audio picking' if something may be on my 'would like to try' list and seems like a good deal to me and set aside a little audio budget each year for a DIY project or two.

  29. You can't fix crap. Your question is not valid, IMHO. The best source material available will do more for less that perfect speakers than perfect speakers will do for less than adequate source material. As a K'horn owner, I am fully aware of that. I have yet to hear anything that makes me feel the urge for new speakers. Dave

  30. Earl, If you had been on the forum from my start, you would have noticed the DOZENS of systems I put together, I went through the exact same thing you are now, and I find myself creeping back into it now (reason for this post) I too lost the joy of music for a long time I used it as a tool so much to critique systems or components that I could not simply set back and listen / enjoy It is a long road and you will learn alot, I would caution you to set back and ask yourself what means more to you Music or System ? and follow that path (pot calling kettle black here ) I really appreciate the input here, It is helping me turn the tide a bit

  40. Always a slippery slope posting a photo! Willand, I understand the narrow sound stage but have difficulty thinking that causes the center channel clarity problem. I would think that speaker is such a monster that my neighbor down the road should be able to hear and understand it. Derrickdj1, yes it has the DRC turned on. Haven't tried a phantom center, that's an idea as well as Scrappy's suggestion. K5SS, the DLP is tilted down which works very well in my recliner. You should see the bedroom TV, it's up on the pot shelf & tilted down also. All those years in hotel rooms, never did like looking through my knees at the TV. I keep hearing Yahama being repeated & that may be the problem but that's a big step. I keep looking at Emotiva's web page though. I know, I know, I know the speaker positioning sucks but it's better than it was when they were behind the furniture. She doesn't mess with my work shop & is very vocal about her area. I haven't been able to design a muffler that works on her but I'm still working on it. Have you ever tried to put a muzzle on a tiger?

  42. Ah ha i see. Yeah there was one i dont know which model though identical at a local shop. It was also $500 about december of 2013...i agree completely...a disappointment. That said. When all said and done. My 2 18's topple over everything i'v heard with ease. In a bit of a small room of course although let alone you and others scrappy with 4 18's. I mean theres nowhere to go. Ready for life til end of time lol i know just my 2 radians my whole sub system is valued very high although can be found so reasonbly in cost. Let alone near a hundred other great choices that are equal and cost so little. Diy is the only choice anymore point blank. nothing plug and play outta box even compares

  44. I'll bet if you listened to them, that might make your decision. Good luck. Thank you. Im actually very content with all heresys atm though time will tell hahahahaahha hahahaHAHAHAhahahaHAHAHA lol When i was selling my 3rd pair of 901's they were version 5 in good shape i literally had had it. 901's as foot stools, used the stands as tables, stored in the closet they had no spot in my house at the time(nor ever again) i really could not find for them. a very good friend of mine who stores my gear or buys it including large shop air compressors 80 gallon ir is 1, anyhow finally he was in my house and they were right beside the door lol i did get a hundred out of him at that point and fine with that lol they were a real headache lol i can seriously only compare them to hemroids on your first day of work at a new job lol I have indeed been around super high end wealthy audiophiles that state how great they sound in front of their huge indoor stone wall with fireplace at the side. I know where 2 of the 3 pairs of 901's i have owned are at now(i believe) and im just sure of 1 thing...nothing can get them through my door ever again lol iv tried all bose speakers you name it the only ones i can stomach are the 301's and thinking about it i do not own 1 pair of them right now and really dont plan on it lol would maybe take 301's for free...would not pay $5 for them. Just too much fake plastic feel to bose cabs and their sounds are beyond hideous i cannot explain the disappointment bose has been in my life. As so many others including top dog/dollar paradigm. Paradigm subs hold a place in my heart although speakers/monitors not ever again and i have demoed paradigm prototype gear & owned the finest 7.1 complete setups from paradigm...just do not cut it although they are some fraction better than bose. Klipsch is so simple and inviting in life for home sound reproduction. Klipsch is my parking spot. The buck stops with klipsch lol cheers!

  45. I believe he was helping the forum with a new uplifting thread with thoughts of quitting while singing cause his bottle was about empty and he didnt want a dui while getting another bottle while already boozed up so quitting would be cheaper in the short run although living to be say 60 and he is 40 now the long run i would just go to sleep if i were him and sleep it off idk then get a new bottle in the morning cause that would save money both in the long run and short run if he's getting clean i'l send him my getting sober book if i can find it cheers
