  1. Hello to all new and old Klipschers , have not posted in ages. My system is now an all Palladium (mains, center and rear) with a massive TC Sounds LMS-Ultra wall of 16 drivers up front driven by 64KW of Crown iTech 8000 and QSC PowerLight PL380amps. Life has changed alot, one passion just took more space audio. Be posting more soon and some pictures. Sold my RF-7's, RC7 center and RF5 and RB5's, sold all my RSW10/12 and 15 subs , for some JL Audio Fathom F113's(4x). Love my Klipsch Palladium with Bryston 7B SST monoblocks (5x). I have to say Klipsch should release a folded horn loaded sub for home use, to back the larger Palladium mains in larger rooms.

  3. Amy and I found a bunch of the 65th Anniversary Klipsch posters (only 500 ever made) in a backroom and thought y'all might like to snag one! Of course, nothing in life is free, so we have a request from you in order to receive a poster... As you may have heard through the rumor mill, we are launching a new all-encompassing Klipsch Blog and we are looking to score some really great content for it. That's where you come in! To snag one of these posters, we are requesting that you write a blog post about your Klipsch setup in the following format. Here we go... MAIN PHOTO: We will only accept high-res photos for this so please do put some effort into the photos. We really cannot accept low quality photos with the way the blog is going to be setup - highly visual & landscape. WHEN/WHY YOU FIRST HEARD OF KLIPSCH: Just write about how you first came into contact with the brand. WHERE & WHERE YOU MADE YOUR PURCHASE: THE SETUP: Discuss how you went about setting up your system and what you use it for. MAIN SPEAKERS: What model they are and why you selected them CENTER CHANNEL (If applicable): What model it is and why you selected it SURROUNDS/BOOKSHELVES (if applicable): What model they are and why you selected them SUBWOOFER (If applicable): What model it is and why you selected it RECEIVER: What model it is and why you selected it AMPLIFIER (if applicable): What model it is and why you selected it MEDIA CABINETS (if applicable): People sometimes like to know what media cabinets you're using. ANYTHING ELSE?: I obviously don't know everything that people would want to know about this kind of thing, so if you have suggestions that would make sense, lemme hear them! First...hmm...let's say 10 people to do this will snag a sweet 65th Anniversary Klipsch poster! Thanks, everyone EDIT: Just post your answers to these questions below or, if you find that uncomfortable, shoot an email to alex.leopold@klipsch.com

  4. Awe c'mon, I've spent almost $20,000 on NEW Klipsch products over the last decade, and I've probably saved hundreds of Cornwalls by having The Cornwall shipping container (Vault) built. I also contribute to extending the life of Klipsch products, both old and new. Finally, my name, as well as that of Bob Crites, Al Klappenberger, Dave Harris, and Craig Otsby - can't even be used in a sentence without uttering the sacred Klipsch name. Besides, all I have are camera phones for pictures, a pair of sawed in half and glued back together RB-61s that came out of your lab, and I live with a bunch of pack ratters and I would need a shovel to even find my system. Please reevaluate your poster criteria. : )

  5. For good measure I watched The Empire Strikes Back last night in the theater alone since the wife as at work and turned it up to near reference volume. That is how you watch Star Wars. Looked beautiful, sounded incredible. Just smiled all night.

  8. I can't wait, and Thank You that's very generous. I went and told the wife and I was a little surprised by the response, YES with a big smile and was really excited, Minermark do you always have this affect on women, I have a hard time getting that kind of response from her. I had told her about it a while back, apparently she had thought about it, or it's just you ?

  9. Actually, the absolute best way to preserve it would be to take a well focused photograph, and save it to a CD. Stick the CD inside the cabinet with a wood screw and a washer. If you ever need to regurgitate the label, take out the CD and get to printing.

  10. Just incredible! It is the one, bar none I need more than anything to make testing 100% equal. Its just amazing. I just asked him and obviously had no idea...In time i would had likely spent hundreds to get that speaker....I was just going to build one...They used to be around...even about 10 months ago there was a pair of similar for sale actually a couple for even the 1 pair $300 although beat up which dont matter me at all. The one you have is perfect and matches well. Alls I had to do was ask...Just incredible! Thank you Mark! Sincerely...thats all i wanted in the world...my health sure that would be nice but enjoyment and full contentment in my audio, wow!...you are one of a kind great!

  11. I am proud and you will be making out very well...just wait til you get within 100miles of fw in. Yes gentlemen...minermark has hooked me up with a matching pro heresy for a trio in my 3ch klipsch system...This will complete my goals in klipsch to a T. I simply asked if he came across 1 beat to crap heresy i would be up to buy...He sent a pic of a kp250 that matches as center(in more ways than i can explain)to my kpt2502c's to more than i could find since the day i bought these pro heresys...I actually only needed a heresy cab and mid horn only...a network would have been nice although i have one that would have been fine.... Anyhow a perfect match...so not only will it be used in 3channel use i will integrate it into the theater i want more than anything...At the moment although doing some simple tasks for my employer I am living on their unlimited insurance at the moment thats kinda limited in money...So minermark has provided me with exactly to a T what i need and want for any possible tests, you name it at least in my world lol...I was content before...Now i am humbled by what seems as a higher power helping me find what was impossible...Cheers to you minermark...Words cannot express the ability now to reach my goal of 3pro as well as 7 pro heresys in full surround sound(the rest are custom built pro style heresy' style...Once again Mark Thank You... You could offer me palladiums and i would not accept i would prefer somebody that 1 has room 2 has more appreciation for them than myself(at least for the time being, dont get me wrong)...I am very content to say the least. Cheers to all!

  14. Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me out. Opened up my cornwalls circa 1981 and replaced the tweeters with Crites' CT125s all good. Now looking at the crossovers they do not seem to match any type B crossover picture that I can find even though they are identified as Type B on the crossover itself. I'm hoping someone can look at the attached photo and advise if the crossover has been modified in any way. Cheers

  18. WHEN/WHY YOU FIRST HEARD OF KLIPSCH: i heard them in a friends room when i was stationed in Japan in 2007. It was the smallest reference RF-10 Home theater WHERE & WHERE YOU MADE YOUR PURCHASE: i made my first klipsch purchase aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in the middle of the Pacific Ocean somewhere. THE SETUP: My 7.1 theater consisted of RF-82's, an RC-52, 4 RS-42's and one almighty RSW-10d. MAIN SPEAKERS: my mains in my three klipsch setups now are the RF-63 in my living room, the KL-650 thx ultra 2 in my home theater, and the 1985 cornwall in my 2 channel setup. CENTER CHANNEL (If applicable): my living room has the RC-64 and my home theater has the KL-650 thx ultra 2 for its center. SURROUNDS/BOOKSHELVES (if applicable): living room has the RS-52's for about another week till i pick up some RS-62's, and the home theater has four KS-525's for surrounds. RECEIVER: my living room runs on a modest denon 1713. My home theater is ran by my onkyo TX-SR805. AMPLIFIER (if applicable: living room doesnt have a receiver with pre outs so no amp up there.....for now. Home theater is ran off a sherbourn PA7-350. 350 watts for all 7 channels. plenty to go around. MEDIA CABINETS (if applicable): up stairs has a cheap ikea cabinet with doors to keep the 3 year old out of stuff. Home theater consists of a custom in wall cabinet i built with my father. and a false wall which hides the three THX ultra LCR's and 4 18" DIY subwoofers. ANYTHING ELSE?: obviously i am an addict. what was once a venture into a descent home theater has turned into an obsession with wanting to hear anything and everything i can for the rest of my life. i hope to one day own either a full heritage home theater if that is what the next home needs or if i have the space to have a full cinema setup with the 402's across the front..... one day soon hopefully!

  20. This is the best photo I can take with current light conditions and my iPhone, of one of my '67 vertical decorator Cornwall speakers. Some of you may remember me as the guy who reproduced Pie Logos for a while, and the one in this photo is an example of "Bronze": First heard Klipschorns in 1979 when I was 12, at my friend Charlie Dwyer's house. They were located on the landing of a grand staircase, and filled 2 floors with luxurious sound. I was mesmerized... First purchase was a used pair of 1973 Decorator La Scalas in Portland, OR. for $565 The setup includes the La Scalas in my Den, 1967 Vertical Decorator Cornwalls in my dining room, and 1959 Shorthorns in my living room. Went about it as space allowed (no dedicated HT), and use it as the mood suits, and the neighbors allow. The main speakers would have to be the 1973 La Scalas, as I listen most often in the den, unless I have all of them fired up at the same time. Still waiting for 2 pair of Heresy speakers; one each for the bedroom and kitchen. No Center. "Bookshelves" will hopefully be the above mentioned Heresy pairs. Receiver - Sony model # STR - D1015. Chosen when I didn't know any better. McIntosh C 28 Pre-Amp, MC 2505 Amp, and 2 @ MC 250 Amps. Chosen for sound. No Media Center. Would LOVE a poster, and hope to have satisfied all the requirements. Thanks, Chris

  24. Old set up New set up WHEN/WHY YOU FIRST HEARD OF KLIPSCH: Frankly... I do not remember when I first heard of the Klipsch brand, suffice to say it was more than a decade ago. What I do distinctly remember was, that after purchasing my first pair of Klipsch Heresys, there was little doubt in my mind that I made the correct choice. WHERE & WHERE YOU MADE YOUR PURCHASE: For me, price was an issue when buying my first pair of Klipsch Heresys... and as part of my search for a "good" pair of stereo speakers, I gravitated to the Heresy's that were on the secondary market. Purchased from eBay from a nice gentleman who lived back east, I remember the excitement as I opened the boxes. THE SETUP: Set up has been a journey to say the least... many incantations have existed, but always in a fashion where I am only changing small parts of the whole set up at any given time. Thankfully, it has been a path that has almost always taken me forward, and rarely backwards, in terms of sound quality and listening satisfaction. I have stayed away from Tube based main amplification mainly because of lack of intimate knowledge, though I do run a "Parks" Tube based Pre Amp for my Phono-stage. To this point, with the absolute blackness and superb clean sound of the main power amps I am running, injunction with their extreme "Musicality", I have felt little need to make the change to Tube based amp's... though it is not out of the question in the future. MAIN SPEAKERS: Modified Klipsch Cornwall CENTER CHANNEL: RC-64ii... blended thru eq'ing to come into line (as much as possible) with the Cornwall mains in terms of Timbre. SUBWOOFER: Klipsch SW-115 RECEIVER: Pioneer SC-35... I came to the "Ice" based SC-35 after trying many class A-A/B amps. I love the extremely low/black noise floor of Class D amplification. AMPLIFIER: Bel Canto Ref500M... Based on reputation and Class D layout. MEDIA CABINETS: No cabinets but Drexel mid century solid walnut stacked end tables

  26. I power my pair with a inuke 3000 dsp. Although overkill when I bought it price was only like 30$ more than the 1000dsp. The good thing about the inuke is you can set 25hz filter at 48 db slope as well as a limiter at 99.6 watts and you can run them as hard as you want and the amp will not allow them to be torn up. Only bad thing about the inuke is the fan noise. I have had my inukes for a while now and just now ordered fans to try the fan mod. Should be here tomorrow I will let you know how they work out.

  29. Hi John, You say he doesn't need new crossovers, but then admit the Heresy is out of balance, and therefore can benefit from a network design change. Now, by the time this change is fully implemented, only two of the original parts remain, so why not go all the way? The new autotransformers are much better in build quality, and loose windings are not conducive to good performance. One could even say that the imbalance is simply because PWK designed them to be placed on the floor, and in a corner -- so place them correctly and you don't have to do anything! Rhetor, I'm not trying to be rude or offensive, but how many different capacitor types or crossover designs have you been exposed to? I believe you were on the Roadshow list, but then backed out? Are you aware that out of the almost 30 people that took advantage of that offer, all but four purchased the design? Now, I only say this because none of those people NEEDED new crossovers either. In fact, most of them were already using crossovers that had either been recapped or replaced. Out of those remaining, a few put themselves into a holding pattern because it was close to Christmas, while two went with my Jensen paper in oil builds. The old capacitors are in need of attention, and they are the only parts that must be replaced. 20 years for electrolytics, and 30 years for any other type of unprotected capacitor is a good rule. If the household budget is really tight, then sure, you can get it done with a handful of entry level metallized polypropylenes, but I think it's a mistake to think or believe that this gets within a light year of a full blown restoration with Jensen or Jupiter capacitors, or a design like the SuperX or Universal. A person is probably only going to address the crossover once after they get the loudspeaker. Is there some solid reasoning somewhere that I'm not aware of that supports the idea of spending the least amount of money possible on a component that plays such a substantial role in determining the sonic signature of the loudspeaker? So, full disclosure here in the event the OP doesn't know, but yes, I build and sell crossovers. But the reason for doing this is because as the hobbyist, I discovered the monumental improvement that better sounding parts and new designs brought to my listening experience. Isn't that what this is supposed to be about? Since the speakers are 30 years old, and you're probably only going to do this once, why not make them really sing?

  30. " You want low Q and High BL for 500 Hz." Not for a Cornscala you don't. It's not a good idea to go below a Qts=0.3 for a reflex box. The optimum Qts for a vented box, considering efficiency, bass extension, and box size is a Qts=0.312

  32. These are some descent small subs, but having tried most compact subs made I have to say the all important WAF makes them so popular. The smaller the sub, the lower the performance per $. No matter who designed/manufactured the unit. $350-400 in mint condition maybe if you must have one, as a new was $499. These are not collector items and they lose value with time/use.

  42. He says one of his customer's "made them" (doesn't say "designed"), and desired to make them available for sale. So, he's partner and distributer. I think he only mentions his experience in the context of being able to evaluate their performance and sound. If you'll read the page where he describes himself, he has an impressive array of credentials. People here have been using the equivalent of the Vittoria for a long time for a lot less money -- and now with the availability of Dave and Al's Eliptrac 400, an even better top section is possible (for a lot less money). I agree that it looks like Dana's Jamboree. But if memory serves, I believe Dana was accused of lifting the design from someone else. Yes, Al removed the schematics because someone decided to change a couple of capacitor values by 10%, and then claimed the designs as their own.

  44. Wasn't Claude running it when you raved about his 1/4 pies? Why did you edit out your comments? You do know that when a post is quoted an email of the original is sent right? I will just say once talking to him i made a tiny adjustment in my opinion. I still prefer a simpler setup. Yes I may end up using a stack just like Claudes someday. I am in touch with several of the the finest speaker builders in the world. Claude even with his modest approach and ability to provide knowledge seems to prefer keeping to himself and I respect that very much so and find him to be at huge value to audio and its future. Nobody is going to open a box and properly setup audessey in even 1 month unless using it for a good amount of time beforehand for some amount of time, indeed properly. I know i can and have numerous times, set up audessey properly. Its great that everybody finds it useful. It may lead to fine audio when used properly. I can only leave it at that...

  45. This is why I wish Klipsch didn't venture into the low end market. It just cheapens the brand IMHO and turns off customers who might have become loyal to the brand if they received a proper introduction. If they want to sell at Best Buy, that's fine, buy why not just sell the reference line there? There's almost no difference in price. i agree here 1000% there is only a slight margin in price difference yet the sound quality as well as build quality is double at least in my opinion. Bad move on Klipsch's part.
