  1. Thank you for your input. My response: If you are reading this Ad, then you already know where it belongs. It may be in the wrong place, but it's an easy fix Normally, I would NEVER have even thought for a second about putting it here, but I am moving and my new place has no room for the post,

  2. I have been reading many ads for audio equipment lately. I feel I am now qualified to develop a template for all to use as they struggle to write the "perfect" ad. Feel free to add to this template as appropriate. Hi - my name is (fill in the blank), I have a (fill in the blank) which I am (a) considering, (b ) rarely thinking about, (c ) reluctantly [pick one] placing up for sale. Normally, I would NEVER have even thought for a second about selling this, but I am (a) moving and my new place has no room for the (fill in the blank), (b ) retiring and planning on living in a small Airstream, (c ) planning on buying an integrated/separates (one only) system, (d) divorcing and want to stick it to my wife by selling this way below cost [pick one] This (fill in the blank) has seen almost no use as I am (a) deaf, (b ) a long distance truck driver who is never home,© hate music, (d) belonged to my grandmother who only used it on Sundays to play church music [pick one]. This (fill in the blank) is very rare and I am not sure I have seen more than 5 in my life, and certainly never in this condition (do not specify what "condition!") Due to the (a) size, (b ) weight, (c ) fragility of this item, I will not ship. Local pick-up only at (a) Walmart parking lot, (b ) under the 29th street bridge at midnight, (c ) at your house. [pick one] Payment must be made in advance by (a) cash, (b ) travelers check [pick one] signed to "bearer." You will never find another (fill in the blank) like this. Hurry up before I come to my senses and change my mind. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A SLAM AT ANYONE SO PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME HATE MAIL

  4. two twelve inch woofers will push the equivalent of close to 1.5 times a fifteen inch woofer. The Chorus and the KLF both use the same mid driver. The horn on the KLF is a very wide band horn but it is very thin walled. The KLF mid horn responds well to some structural reinforcement and damping as it can be made to vibrate when the woofers play loud. The KLF do play lower than either Chorus do. The real baffle of the Chorus is nor braced in any way and can vibrate enough to actually slap the mid driver. The KLF cabinet panels are smaller and will vibrate at higher frequencies that those of the Chorus. Since the OP has a pair of Chorus ll and is looking for some additional I would like to offer a suggestion that might just provide the added bass and cost a few dollars at most. All that needs to be done is to glue 2.5 ounces of steel washers (two large ones) on to the centre of the passive. If you don't like it simply remove the washers. I came up with this mod originally on a pair of Quartet then on a pair of Forte ll. A small amount of five minute epoxy works well to bond the washers together and to fix the combined washers to the passive. Four or five small dots works very well and makes them easy to remove if desired. Best regards Moray James. The Chorus II & KLF 30 do not share the same midrange driver, the Chorus II uses the K- 61 with a phenolic diaphragm & the KLF 30 uses the K-52 with a Polymer diaphragm. Even with a 3/4" bucking magnet on the back of the the K-61 the driver never vibrates near to slapping the back of the cabinet. Adding weight to your passives is a risky move if you like your music loud, i tore a passive from the frame once, adding weight to the passive will increase the risk of damage.

  5. Great shot JL, it is all about our kids. Remembering how you got this whole thread started I have to post one of those sports expressions of my son, he plays defense and he's about to help this young man relinquish that ball

  6. There has to be a country song in there somewhere. I am not crazy about country music but always did like Randy Travis, he was always kind of between old country and new country. A lot of the newer country is closer to pop rock than country but I can only take so much of it before moving on.

  8. Always like Randy's music for the most part. Serious music with a geniune flavor to it. Got on a 40 foot ladder at work one day with another to look at a commercial Gilat sat system at our store. Younger fellow co-worker pulled out a bottle of peppermint schnapps and took a healthy swig first. Mr. Young might remember, a southern man doesn't need him around anyhow.

  9. How old were the other crossovers ? I was quite surprised only changing out the old oil can parts on LaScalas, it was not just a little change in sound. I have to ask but answering is optional, what is the Miner thing, a hobby, job or just an interest ? Just wondering, it's not something you hear of often. 3rd generation goldminer (hobby) 4 Claims on the north fork of the middle fork of the Feather, used to Dredge every year till the idnians paid the Gov to Ban Dredging in the state 5 years ago. just about ready to let the claims go this next year, because if you cannot move volume you aint going to get gas money home. Oh my darling Clementine...You are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorrow Clementine...

  17. Have you ever wondered why when you lose something, look everywhere you can think of, give up and go buy a new whatever it was, and just as you pull in the driveway from buying the tool or what not, you remember right where you put it. Or am I the only one with this problem? I have been looking for a random orbital sander for a few weeks and had pretty much given up. Almost bought a new one. Last night a random orbital showed up. Looks just like new, same brand, but different style. I expect it's partner to turn up any time now. John

  20. That is too funny! I just read the following this afternoon on Craigslist: “I am not an audio salon and do not have time to let tire kickers sit in my living room to audition the speakers. The speakers are not in my current system, but I will hook each one up for you to see that they both work.…. I will also "consider" a trade for a two person Kayak in great condition. I am only interested in a trade for a kayak and will not consider any other items in trade." Something about the imagery of an audio salon combined with tire kickers.... I hope this thread persists, wherever it needs to be.

  22. I can hear you all the way up here in Carolina bb No accidents on the ladder.....this time.....but it is shaky fully extended. Anyway that jobs done. On Travis.....doctors at Baylor said it was a heart scarring issue that runs in his family. A clot while treating his condition lead to the stroke. He was a hard drinking man according to reports. One story said that he was arrested in a country store, completely naked, trying to buy beer. Police found an empty twelve pack of beer and a box of chicken wings in his truck A miner for a heart of gold.....huh Mark? Cheers Gents

  24. I chose spray because I was worried I would leave brush marks and runs. It's a lot of coats ( almost 10) I'm going to do the rub finish soon. You have to wait weeks after your done to do this part. I have not done this part before so I'm a little nervous. I will try the bottom first. The rub will make it completely smooth like glass. And remove any tiny little dust that got in when it was drying. This is the part most people don't do and it's really the most important (they say) to getting it like a high grade finish you would find on things at the store.

  25. man i worked the lexus dealership here in fw for 2 years and for a painter to have a tool box was rare but i had my big snap on cab in there but my ratcheting box/open end bluepoint(they were made before snap on made ratcheting wrenches(and yea i kno there the same lol)..anyhow)that 10mm was 1 of only 2 in that shop...i never had to replace it and i actually sold the set for what i had in it(bought used/like new years ago the set for $130 cash(great deal then))then passed the full set on to a lexus mechanic for same price.. anyhow that 10mm ratcheting wrench 1 of 2 in the shop was the most borrowed tool in the shop. Even more than my weld on tip dent puller(which i also sold for the amount i had in it $450 at cost the stinger set in case)... Anyhow i pissed a lot of people off not loaning tools out...i let it up to only a couple people to loan my tools out and shared the key actually with a normally untrustworthy dude but could pull bumpers or anything off and put them back on while basically wet(without leaving prints better than anybody i ever met) so we built a good relationship...since he could put stuff on so quick meant i wouldnt have wait to lock the doors and could deliver stuff on time back onto the lot or customer then leave....still had many sometimes kinda unpaid nights getting jobs done during even 24hr shifts...Ya win some and lose some...I was paid very well and lots of perks although the stress was through the roof.... So the tool thing to me im sharing now where many tools end up ( STOLEN...loaned out? ) etc..that type of thing at least in a shop...I only had friends and loved fighting with all the old frame rack dicks lol we all got along unless he or i got paid before the other lol etc...etc...I miss them days i loved every day. I loved opening the doors to a 20k sq ft shop turning the compressor on...working all day and night then shutting it down...I still have the essentials to do a full restoration and will likely do a couple more in my life...The collision business is too easy in particular when things need to be absolutely perfect and the money was provided to do so...

  27. I solved the loosing of a lot of things years ago by simply having a four shelf rack in the garage, if it has a power cord, it goes on a shelf and I don't care what a mess it looks like but da-mit it's there every time. Now here is my real bugger, I have collected goodies all my life electronics, radio, ham you name it, just about every time I get into a tote I find stuff I swear iv never seen before, no idea where it came from.

June 21 1989, stamped on the inside of the sub door. I emailed Dean and was really wanting to go with his this time around, but being the wife changes her taste about once a year, I thought I would just go with Bob's and keep them stock. I really want to try deans, and low and behold as soon as I get my hands on my latest purchase "Bells" that would be a far better place for Deans I think.

So Rich-Guy is in the OC eh ? I have a little time back in the day there myself, 21 years ago after the last wife and earthquake, I said to myself, "Self, I should get the h-ll outta here" Figured I could get a job and wife anywhere...it worked.

  36. A beautiful day shaping up here in the port city. Yard chores in store while the lady friend goes to a Kentucky Derby party. A charity fund raiser with ladies in big hats drinking mint juleps and men wishing they were somewhere else. On a roll having pressure washed the house and edged and cut the grass. Today the big job of pruning azaleas and boxwoods that I should make into a two day event to savor all the fun. Think I'll have the second cup on the patio...... Cheers Gents

Wife will get these Khorns as soon as im done fixin them up, for the money I spent last week, if these would have been available I might just have moved on them. I have sent a few emails to Socal friends letting them know these are something you don't see often.

  46. And yet another day begins of my "John Lennon" protest, (Day three of coffee/duggans, movies, sleep). Silent protest/waiting for the bank to kick down a piece of the nest egg, then it's party time, well as soon as I pay OFF all the bills. Pulled enough out to give the wife her gambling binge (three days should do it), and her/me a little speaker upgrade funding.
