  4. Most people don't, then when they actually visit they like it so much they move here. Coarse if I did't have kIds I would move to south Texas where it is warmer more through out the year. But I don't have enough clothes to live there, two pairs of jeans and about 30 pair shorts. They would find me frozen somewhere during winter, the news would say another southern found frozen, you would think they would learn ! South Texas get's hotter than we do here, they can be over 100 regularly, were usually just in the 90's with enough humidity to make it hard to breathe sometimes.

  5. Looking at a high around 80 here, nice weather. I should be getting the pad poured for the, I was able to get it all formed up last night. Anybody got plans for the upcoming weekend. For me its a 3 day weekend, but for the most of you its just another day the bank isn't open.

  6. Easy, one of the places I have hooks for a hammock is off to the side of the bar so I just pull up one of the barstools and use it as a end table. It works great to hold all kinds of "beverages". One reason for having hooks there is because the stereo is behind the bar and it has a place to plug in for AUX input. 15' monoprice cable reaches into the hammock easily, connected to a phone which picks up wifi for Pandora and Spotify. I am practicing the art of relaxing and a hammock + drinks + music in the shade with ceilings fans blowing while halfway hanging over a pond is working really really well. This hut may be the best thing I have ever built ! seriously You really put some work into being able to relax. Reward makes it all worth it! Sounds like a hassle free setup! Guess you keep some of those bendable straws on hand.Lol

  9. Weather wise a carbon copy of yesterday.....no complaints. Making labels and packing up the BBX to go see it's daddy in California. May get around to hanging the hammock I got as a present in the 70's.....still has the plastic wrap. May be dry rotted? Second cup finished and thinking about going to the library to do volunteer work. Cheers Gents

  13. It's a spatial expander processor from the late 80's made by the Hughes Aircraft company. Not really needed today for HT, maybe for a two channel rig. The old DBX consumer group components are better. Pretty neat component similar to the Pioneer RG-202/RG-303 spacial expander "echo box" worked great when used in moderation.

  21. That's true but the nylon sucks really bad because it does not stretch at all. We have one of each right now and the nylon was put between two closer poles like a chair, it's about all it's good for . When you stretch out to the right length and lay on the nylon it does not conform to your shape by stretching it just get's tight where it get pressure. The cotton fits your shape perfectly every time. Neither have the spreader bar or as it's called "American style", the others are much more comfortable. I had know idea of this until I tried them, my wife keeps telling me to throw away the nylon one it's so bad, I leave it out there and the grandkids play with it

  24. I know nothing about crossovers although i do know how to hook up speakers and Arash nailed it... once hooked up check each individual driver( ear up to the tweeter, then midrange and then woofer) at very low volume...If it does not sound correct report back on this thread...if it sounds acceptable then try a bit louder and so on...best of luck to you!

  25. I had a pair of those. They are called color organs from Rat Shack. Red blinks to the Bass, Blue blinks to treble, and Green blinks to midrange. They are adjustable for sensitivity in all three band widths. Roger

  26. A little Thinking about this AND the other quote together, you better be very careful with the remote, even after you move them back a few feet, you could easily go louder than you want to hear. Press the wrong button and you could scare people.

  27. Oh wait, I calculated the distance from the screen. The main speakers are currently are a few feet closer than that since I don't have them behind the false wall yet (might be another reason I keep turning them down). So currently, they are about 6ft away. My new setup should be 2/3 watts from 13' away according to the calculator... I am def gonna be loving the "T" chip amps for the horns!

  34. I would just buy them and enjoy them. Spend some time listenering to them and experiment with how you locate them in the room. Eventually, you may want to refresh the caps, but that will certainly not cost the $385 figure quoted above. I did my AAs for $25 per side. There is so much talk around here about the need to upgrade etc. This ignores the fact that they sound pretty good in their stock form. While the "upgrades" are sometimes improvements, they are not nearly as dramatic as some claim. Just my opinion .... edit: BTW, if the woofers are working then leave them alone.

  36. In the world of HT, I don't think I would want to deal with the public at large on that one. Case in point, you find out what the person wants but you KNOW what will sound good/work, involve his budget and things get diciy. If you really want to get a little into it, try consulting on HT.

  39. I know this thread is about outdoor listening, but there's a fairly new indoor theater I've been wanting to go to. It's the Palladium Center for Performing Arts in Carmel Indiana. It's supposed to have some of the best acoustics of any hall on the planet. I haven't liked any of the performers yet, except Peter Frampton is coming, I might have to get tickets. The ceiling is covered in adjustable glass panels to help with the sound. It's a 1600 seat venue with a 180 million dollar price tag.

  41. Replace the caps, drop the mids and HF down one tap and add a 15Ω resistor.

  42. Here is one issue IMO: how far down the mid horn goes/went. My understanding is that the C/W I and I think the C/W II crossed from mid to bass at 600 HZ, and had a mid horn to match, the K-600. This to me gave the Corns the clarity and authority for much of the middle range, including the all-important definitional overtones for bass and lower middle-range instruments. Saxes and cellos are going to sound very well defined by that kind of output. Add the powerful bass to that, and you have a fabulous speaker for jazz, movies, and lots of classical music. The Forte II had an almost identical lower crossover point for its mid-horn: 650 Hz. The same sort of definitional advantages as the Corns, IMO, and apparently a different balance between the deepest bass and midrange. But, unless things have changed, the C/W III uses the HERESY treble complement, a smaller, 700-Hz horn, crossed over at a (relatively) stratospheric 800 Hz. That's a whole half-octave higher than a 600-Hz horn, in theory at least. 800 Hz is way up at the G that's 1.5 octaves above middle C. Those notes are just the fundamentals of the higher notes of treble instruments, and the overtones and higher) of mid-range instruments at best. IMO, that's why the C/W III doesn't sound very big -- last time I heard one, it was almost like a Heresy with a little bigger bass. I mentioned this theory to the principal designer, but the die was already cast. Anyway, that's my $0.02.

  43. It appears by your signature that you upgraded your Cornwalls..... why did you do that? That's what this forum is about, or what I see most, is improving our equipment and listening experience. I'm just asking if there is a cost/benefit of swapping out some of the internals?

Who else in life will have the chance to Audition a set of Khorns, Bells, and Scala's in the same room one minute apart, (about how long it takes to jump wires). yeah she is up to something, if/when she starts talking Cables, im going to keep a Pistol on my desk..........
