  1. So I guess this is not a Shu in? Don't worry Earl as Schu is never amused because nothing for sale is ever close enough to him for him to purchase !

  2. Thanks to all participants in the UFC Thursday preliminaries. That was a lot of fun! Some days I hang out with you other retirees and soon to be retirees in our coffee klatch....talking nonsense and just shooting the breeze....the rest of the day is just wasted Maybe Mark will fill us in on his road trip and purchases once he has recovered from the petting zoo. So the weekend is here Cheers Gents

  4. Sorry ETH2 that was a tough fight. Sorry about your hand. I asked your corner if you were okay.....wanted to make sure it wouldn't effect your sex life. Your cut man said "no it was his left hand" So tonight its duder vs Rachel Ray and minermark vs Joe Cocker......should be some good fights. Enjoy Gents

  6. How about the 7ii's. I'm guessing since you said the corns and 7ii's were so close goes for them too. These really are the hidden gem in Klipsch's lineup now. If people can squeeze them they are worth every penny even if bought brand new.

  8. Not sure the value of your amp / amps, If it were me I would search out other Vac amps and see if the add on is typical and also see if it looks to add to amps value Generally I would say this is not an area for concern, as a tube amp should never be operated unless you are there listening, if a tube is failing you will hear odd harmonics and distortion first in almost all situations. Of course when you hear this the idea is to rush over and shut it off B-4 the tube runs away and causes damage If I found I could recoup the investment on resale I would say "what the hell" and have it installed (ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure) I personally am Happy you have posted the numerous issues you have had with those amps (helps me steer clear) I am not happy you have issues just happy you share the info

Scallas show up about 10, then off to the animal park, drinking will be involved. Everyone have a safe weekend.

  12. Well said. For a long time anyone who talked about Pro speakers we jumped on and made fun of for choosing "PA" speakers as if it was a plan to possibly upset the klipsch standard hierarchy of speakers, which is silly there Klipsch. This is still part of the reason for what you have to do to buy them. There was so much negative talk Klipsch really did not wan to sell to individuals, it was not worth the trouble. People thought it was a plan to keep it secret, it was just not talked about because of the negative people who had NOT even heard them but made claims as if they knew something ! It is much more widely accepted now, or some just stopped complaining ?

  14. I like the ports showing underneath....kinda like the toes of a monster waiting in hiding. I had two svs subs between the speakers. So it was 6 more ports that run all the way across the wall lol. It looks better with the matching 3. So i tucked the subs behind them. What kind of Lumens are you getting out of the JVC? I have always liked JVC but I can't afford one for the new screen size as it would be very expensive. I know your black levels are much better than my BenQ but for only $750, I couldn't pass up the deal and my Epson 1080 was pretty old and ready for another bulb (went through one bulb per year). Good thing I got the BenQ because we are at almost 4000 hours on it and it is only 9 months old! I would be on my second bulb of the year with the Epson. JVC are not light cannons. And won't win to many max lumens battles. But their ridiculous contrast makes filling a monster screen a breeze. I think they are around 700-800 in best pic mode (best pq). Max out put is 1300 I think. Do you think it would be bright enough for a 14' wide scope screen in a light controlled HT? Easy

  19. You either zoom in to remove the bars or you get a anamorphic lense on a slide that will stretch the image. The movies you see that have the bars are the ones that you can do this to. Yes, How do you like the ben 1070? I did a lot of reading on that model. Seems like an amazing value. This is my first DLP projector and I like it... It is very bright and crystal clear. The only downside is the fan is noisier than I would like and the occasional rainbows. We will see how it does when we move to the 14' wide screen in the HT in the next month or two.

  22. Thanks Dave, I have had fun with this one. I still need to build the bar, add the kitchen and possibly a bathroom attached. All in due time. Unfortunately it all cost money. If I quit buying boats I could get more done down here.

  25. I highly recommend the bass reflex sub cabinet Although the drivers have been upgraded they easily reach 30 htz and below Coupled with good crossovers the bass is fast, accurate and vibrates the house https://vimeo.com/95931681

  27. I have found that horn loaded subwoofers is a better match for the LaScala. It makes sense since the LaScala is fully horn loaded. There are many horn loaded horn plans. I myself built Bill Fitzmaurice's Tuba Home Theaters (THT's). This is a very efficient speaker, and blends with the LaScala seamlessly. The THT is tuned at 22Hz, and is a very large enclosure which is targeted for home theater use; however, it is also very capable with music. Other horn loaded subs are smaller like the Table Tuba, and there are some larger ones like the Danley DTS-10. What do you use the LaScala's for? Music, home theater? How many LaScalas? How big is the room? Finally, if music, what kind of music do you listen to?

  28. Now that's fancy looking, I'm a little scared of that stuff, it could become addicting and I have enough problem with regular coffee, I don't need to switch to industrial strength coffee.

  29. Good question. I have been told and have read the 2" is the way to go if you can. This 501 horn set up would be awesome in a cornwall I bet.

  32. Not quite, I have no plans to sell my DeanG RF-7ii or my RF-7's. Enjoying the qualities of both the Reference and Heritage. I couldn't. Some Belle's are gorgeous....those are definitely do not fit my taste due to finish and type of grill cloth. You guys are on a serious mission aren't you. You are now residing at Hotel Klipsch.... You can check out but you can never leave.

  36. whaooooo...a bit malitious arent ya! lolNo just a capitalistBuffet will likely pay for some look alike to storm the ropes and do some hurting....I hope you get buffet himself to make a bit of peace for us all! Iv got a couple chips on my shoulders to do with him as well...he will get sloppy...You got him eth2!I'll jab him where the sun don't shine. Of course, I will want you as my second as backup, in case my plane is delayed. As I expected, I was seriously injured in my match with Warren B. My lawyer er, doctor, says it will be an expensive. long recovery. Yes, he probably was hedging with a roll of SusanB's... Only right that his er..doctor cover the extensive long recovery. If he didn't have you sign a waiver, I would consult a doctor attorney...or send you a few shares of Berkshire Hathaway for your trouble. You would think a guy with his experience would not resort to leveraging his money against an opponent. The nerve of some people.

  40. I think Beeker can handle Honest Abe. I don't know about Sammy, but once I am done having a few martinis with him, I will slam some beers and take on Sid, don't know how it's going to turn out just get some punk rock going and we'll see what happens. As for the rest I am not sure.

  42. In my brief experience with the CT 125 tweeters, I heard greater articulation of highs from from it, and this produced a little greater articulation of bass notes. I suspect that's what you're hearing.Even though the ranges of the tweeter and the woofer are some octaves apart, we are probably hearing more bass-note overtones from the tweeter, which would provide that greater definition. That's not necessarily a good thing, as treble instrument definition could overbalance mid-range definition. I switched back to the K-77's for that reason, but that was just my feeling about it.

  43. Okay I have heard the comments that I threw the fight with Charlize but her leg lock around my head was really tight That's why I didn't move. What was your favorite match? Mine was probably the fight matching Chad and Neil Sedaka. Half way through the very first round Neil takes out his mouth piece and starts singing "Where The Boys Are". Well while Chad was laughing hysterically Neil pulls Chad's trunks down So as we now stand ETH2 beat Buffett in spite of a vicious head butt and moves on to fight Otis Campbell. Dtel advances to face Carlos Santana. Beeker should have no trouble with Opie and minermark squares off with Jim Cramer. Good luck fellas!

There were some characters back then just like today, does anyone remember HornEd , Mobilhomeless , Parrot, or the guy pretending to be a female, can't remember it's name.

  49. Islander,Your reasonable and legitimate comment (highlighted in bold above) points to a weakness in Neil Young's promotion and marketing of PONO. IMO, the fact that the unit is relatively compact and portable is a bonus, not its reason for existence. Focusing on size (my wife has heard this from me for years) misses the ultimate goal. IMO, they should start by promoting it as the BEST way presently humanly possible to play digital recordings which preserve channel separation, dynamic range, frequency response and all other facets of the recording process that contribute to an experience that is as close as possible to live music, when played on excellent equipment. To do so--under the current state of art for the digital recording medium--PONO must forego the relatively small digital files that allow mass storage and ease of portability, but which also necessitate compression and other compromises regarding dynamic range, frequency response, etc. Under the best of circumstances, the retail market for the PONO hardware/digital process is extremely limited. Only those who are willing to make serious sacrifices (financial, room decor, aesthetic, etc.) will be interested in this digital device/medium. Many, if not most, of the enthusiasts who populate these forums are among the PONO target market. To me, it's merely a bonus that the hardware is relatively compact and portable. The size will allow me to easily move it to the high fidelity systems of others so that they too can experience the benefits (assuming they are real, as I expect they are, but I have not yet head it) themselves. I do not expect to Velcro a PONO player to my arm to then go for a jog. The current digital hardware with its small size and mass storage will continue to fill that need, where portability trumps Hi-Fi. PONO and others (supporters, skeptics and critics) seem to focus on the portability, rather than the absolute quality. It might be less confusing if it needed to be the size and weight of the MC2255. Then there would be no distraction caused by focusing on its size, shape and file storage, as compared to iPods and the like. As previously mentioned, I "pledged" $300 to get a black PONO player. Kickstarter is predicting delivery by October 2014. To me, it was worth the risk. At the very least, the response to the Kickstarter promotion demonstrates a significant demand for high quality digital recording and playback. I'll share my impressions when I get my PONO player. I truly hope those serious about experiencing high-fidelity (roughly translated to mean true to the original) support this, and/or other worthy efforts, to extract the full potential from the digital recording medium, something that mp3, CD, SACD, DVD, etc have not done. On the one hand, PONO is being marketed by artists and enthusiasts to enthusiasts. Even the, IMO, misguided choice of the name PONO (too close to porno, pony, pronto, etc.) shows a lack of slick marketing. On the other hand, it was slick marketing that brought digital music to the sorry state in which it currently finds itself. YMMV.
