BTW, there is no known cure for the disease that we all share....why do you think we spend so much time in the forums......because this community are the only ones that truly understand our struggles, our temptations and our demons. Gotta run......my Craigslist app just went off on my phone.4 points

Thanks Cal Losing Julia was the hardest thing I've ever gone though and for the next three years was too private for me to share with forum friends. Ben asked about my absence and I in return sent him a PM to only share with a couple of folks I consider close friends even though we have never met. Julia was rare. A juvenile diabetic who under went three organ transplants and open heart surgery prior to her passing. She was never defined by her issues and would quickly deflect questions when asked about her health. Julia was a people person and would continue a conversation with a stranger till she made a common connection. This was not just polite conversation but a genuine interest in knowing all about you. We always kidded her about being the Goober Queen since she was the Peanut Queen in her home town of Windsor, NC. She was a trooper with a heart of gold and I am a better person for knowing and loving her for twenty six years. Friends said I "over married" and they were right. She was the epitome of an "Angel Flying To Close To The Ground". And so now I have Jake.....I can tell he is going to be a great dog. Just had some company over and he was so well behaved and so laid back. I'm lucky....3 points

Sorry about the wife. Dogs, unconditional and unending love and attention.Little dogs go 16 or so years, we have Akitas and 12 to 14 is a very old dog. We just said good by to 2 life long (dogs life) friends last year, we now have a 1.5 yo rescue dog. He never will take the place of any prior dog but he is his own being and will also have a special place in our hearts. They always listen to you, seem attentive and are thankful to just be near you. We give them our spare food, our spare time and our spare attention and in exchange, they give us their everything, what a great deal.3 points

Awhile back, like when I was younger, I was working a job that was hot with 2 older co-workers moving heavy equipment. We got hot and they were saying, let's go cool off. Great I'm thinking. Well we proceeded to go to a restaurant and they ordered hot coffee all around. Abit counterintuitive, but it worked for me then. If already posted, sorry. Guess they were not the first to discover this.2 points

Your doing great, sorry to hear this, I can't imagine. Many never get to know what you had for 26 years, you can never lose that, you are lucky.2 points

Way to go Chuck! I may have spent 20 years in the Coast Guard; but, You're the real lifesaver. Damn Steve....that brought a tear to my eyes. Have you ever seen the bumper sticker "Who rescued who?" That may be the case here. As you and a couple of others know after Julia passed away in 2010 I rattled around this house alone for far too long. Several folks told me to get a dog and I always thought that a bit odd. Lose a spouse....get a dog. They were well intentioned but I wasn't ready....till now. Thanks Steve.2 points

Glad you got him, you two look like a good match, the only reason he isn't more excited is he had no idea what was ahead of him if it were not for you. I was going to ask earlier but thought it might not be a good idea if you were having second thoughts. You did great today and have a new admirer and best friend, I would think both of you will benefit. Dang dude you do NOT look your age (see old), keep up whatever your doing.2 points

Best post to help with his greef, funny, I cant seem to find that "Problem Sloved" button anywhere........ The "problem solved" button is commonly known as "Buy it Now"2 points

My only word of caution is you dont know anything about the guy doing the work, and I am sure there is no warranty involved, If you use poor tube gear you stand a chance to lose more than just the amp, it could take a speaker with it I certainly would never leave the room with it on, not knowing its build origin I would also insist on an audition period in the sellers home of at least 1/2 to 1 hour allowing the thing to get up to operating temp and see how it acts2 points
-
You think you have a problem? February 1, 2014 - BOSE 901, 20 year old CD player and a 7.1 AV Integrated amp. June 5, 2014 - See signature line and add 1 pair LaScalas AA (Audioholics Anonymous) rejected me as a lost cause.2 points
-
For $225 if you want a very basic taste of tubes and do not expect to shake the walls then why not! This would be a great amps for more mild and less complicated music. Though something with a allot going on at it and it will most likely go to mush. Jazz. vocals and acoustic music will sound spectactular at reasonable levels. If you move on you should have no problem getting all or most money back on resale.2 points

At some point Im going to try and "un-industrialize" my LS's and get back to a wood finish. If things things turn south, I may have to resort to a painted finish, but it won't be black again thats for sure. Here is another oddball LS on steroids.2 points

I'm sure most have seen my TT build in the Plywood cutting tutorial thread so I won't bore anyone with step by step pics. This is one of two mirrored image TT that I'm building for hugeroost. This is my second (and third) build that I've done since I bought my track saw. The thing is worth it's weight in gold. It's a tremendous time saver and really makes you a better builder. I can't recommend it enough.1 point

Was talking with the wife and she commented on how nice the TV speakers sound, 4 way IMF and 4 way Bang and Ofsen. Run off 70;s Marantz quad. I told her I could do better and not take up any more floor space, but she's not having any of it. Maybe if I setup the second living room that has KHorns with La Scalas and DIY sub base. I use that room for Stereo, but could run TV into system with switches I have. What Sub Bass? I'm thinking for my first DIY going to a flat pack. I would like it to go comfortably to 20H and below at moderate volume. Started to post in Lounge, but moved it here Probably the same as Recommended sub for LaScala Trios?1 point

Thoughts and prayers for Cyndy and you. Thanks for the dog information. I don't speak dog very well. Maybe that's why our daughters' chihuahua pets, first Rico Suave, and now his son, Maverick Rico Suave, keep pooping in our office room. Rico even pooped behind my office chair a few times with me in it shortly after I took him out. And he peed on my Cambridge Soundworks Model 12.... but I think Chihuahuas are closer related to the fox than to dogs?1 point

If the IB setup works OK up to 100Hz be sure the manifold is fairly centered behind your screen or have one on each side, frequencies become more directional the higher they get and you will notice it at 100 Hz.1 point

I went to Frys a few years back when the digital converison was the big thing, bought an "Oven Rack" UHF placed at roof top level, ran wire into the attic, 3-way splitter, plugged into three Tv's, and in the menu of each TV,Select air/antenna, hit auto program, 26 channels in digital HD is what we have, 15 more if you speak Spanish. Frisco comes in at night 85 miles away also locked in digital. Perhaps someone is still trying to get the VHF channels ? they are dead in the USA as of three years+ ago.1 point

Oh great, that's good and bad ! I've never shot a cross bow. But I think I'd check out the neighbor first and see what he thinks. My Uncle was drinking with a guy, And they decided they was going to go out and poach a deer. They did, and as they were packing up when 2 -3 state officers showed up. Turned out his drinking buddy was the tribal game officer. They had a laugh, And Left him alone as he was on tribal land. Maybe your neighbor might wish they would move on.too. And be more of "If I don't see it, I don't know it happened." My son and I shot a bunch of skunks with a shot gun, in the city one night. But that's another story.1 point

HA!! 2007: rf-82, Rc-52, rs-42, rsw-10d LOVED THEM!!!!! 2012:Discovered this place....... in two years have went from that setup to rf-63 home theater then to thx ultra 2 home theater, and now i hope i am done at the cinema line. along them lines these were also purchased: RF-42ii, 52, 62. RC-42ii, 52, 62, 64. RS-41ii, 52, 62. RB- 51, 61. Heresy, Cornwall, icon Wf-35, WC-24, WS-24, WB-14. RSX-3, RCX-4. Icon KF-28, KC-25, KB-15, KS-14 Subs has been a shorter journey to bliss. rsw-10d single to 3 of them then to dual SVS pb-13 ultras. from there tried the thx ultra 2 subs. and then after that am now at the quad 18's. have also had svs sb-12nsd, bic pl-200, velodyne vx-11, klipsch rt-10d, and have settled on more diy. anarchy tapped horn subs. feel free to tally that all up. but has happened all in two years. and that is just the speaker side of things. dont make me start going into electronics that have been bought and sold along that time either. LOL and i am still married...lol1 point

Good luck with your sale. Those look a little rough, but pictures of the the inside of one of them would help as the EV woofers are potentially more precious than the Eminence even though they spec. pretty close. The frame will tell us.1 point

here is a bacic LaScala bin in MDF with one good set of braces two sets would be better. See how the brace extends almost to the mouth which is where all the action is and where you need the strength of a brace the most. Hope this is of interest. Best regards Moray James. Here is a LaScala with twin braces and clever use of paint to great effect. See link for info and more ideas in the thread. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/user/45505-mach-1/?tab=reputation&app_tab=forums&type=received&st=901 point

I am very happy with the performance of the RSW-15. "More than I need" is relative. LOL That's the question I'm asking myself..."What am I missing" that I can get with an IB or Horn loaded sub. Honestly, I think I just got excited that I'm making HUGE changes in my front wall, why not do the sub at the same time but Shaun and I have plenty to work on without adding a sub to the mix. Plus if I do it all now, it won't leave room for new projects in the future. It's probably best that I focus on building the front wall, building the 140" - 150" screen, moving the projector back a few feet, getting the LaScalas behind the wall, adding some accent lighting behind the screen so I can "reveal" the LaScalas without having to raise the screen. Then I can evaluate what I have and see if I feel that the RSW-15 is lacking in any capacity or does not meet my needs. I've yet to hear the THX subs. MichaelandKlipsch has 4 of them in his setup. Might could buy two of his when he upgrades his setup in the future. Seriously? How does that work? Very interesting if it can do that. That's funny Michael.1 point

My friend recommended a few fans to me ranging from 8-17$. I bought the highest cause he said they were the absolute best. Snip the red and black wire from old fan. Splice in new fan. Verify it worked before I put everything back together. 15 minutes per fan. Amps are SILENT now.1 point
