  1. Elijah Wood tweeted us last night with a picture of his Klipsch La Scala and the Klipsch Hobbit t-shirt! For those wondering, we don't pay for Elijah to use La Scalas. He's just a big fan who tweeted us one day about it. Apparently, he is a big-time audiophile. Check out the tubes!

  2. Just wanted to post a public thanks to Mark. I was having some electronic issues here at the house and just couldn't get a handle on. Mark took time via e-mail to help me trouble shoot and repair my issue. I'm grateful for the help. Thanks again Mark! Carl

  5. I have probably bought as many posted items through the Forum as anyone (and in a much shorter period). I appreciate discussion of the items in terms of the quality (e.g., crossovers improvements, better horns, comparisons to other recent sales, etc.) and costs. While some posters take a dim view of price discussion, I just don't see the problem. In my view, there are some members who use this Forum as a private eBay. That is fine, however to attempt to stifle discussion as to quality and cost seems antithetical to the purpose of a discussion forum. No doubt those who see the profit potential of limiting discussion as to items for sale will flame in and attack. So be it. I do not defend rude or insulting comments directed at OP's. However, I also do not countenance stifling constructive discussion. Just sayin'

  6. I think the forum does a pretty good job of self-policing-through-condemnation. People have bad days. People have sarcasm and snark. It doesn't all just disappear the moment you log into a website - personalities will always clash and grind, as they do in any other social environment.

  10. While annoying at the time, pricing discussions and persistence in the final asking/sale price is hugely helpful for future researching when people are selling/buying and need a place to start.

  11. How hard is it to send a pm if you have a question about price? Why would it need to be out in the open. Location is a big part of value and not everything thats sold on this forum needs to be a great deal. If you have no interest move on is my opinion.

  12. I don't read many threads on this forum any more but when I do I see more and more members responding to sale threads not with interest in the item but with a bunch of smart a$$ quips and comments about the sellers item or asking price. That is usually followed with a slathering of salve explaining what a close knit bunch of smart a$$es we are here reasoning that is what called for the welcoming responses. Not that we had any interest in the item in the first place. WTF isit whit dat? Keith

  13. Captain Obvious here, but note the hobbit is sitting on a La Scala in the t-shirt, and Elijah who played a hobbit is now sitting on his La Scala. I love when things come full circle.

  14. Wow been supper busy lately, supper humid here as well. Sounds like everyone has work to do, I have a party to plan for my step dads 60th on Sunday, parts are coming in for the MC2100, which by the way if these all fix it I will have a wonderful sounding amp for half the price of the going rate. Also recommend upgrades on the Crown d45 thread are really taking off, so that will be under way shortly. Well I'll catch you folks later.

  18. I tend to stay out of for sale ad's unless it is something I am looking for, I have sent respectful PM messages to sellers whom are new to the forum asking an exorbitant amount for something, as a means to educate the seller, and to warn that some here may take there sale as a way of them attempting to take advantage of klipsch forum members On the other hand I look upon the forum as family, and if someone came to my brother and asked 1000 for a 500 dollar item, I would tell my brother its outta line pricing I also agree a RESPECTFUL question as to pricing is NOT out of line as the forum is a place of education, I know I have learned so much about audio use, buying, & selling Just my 02

  19. I have sold a few things through the forums and given away some too. Some buyers come here with a more commercial agenda and that means making or grinding out profits from the transactions. That is what has angered me and perhaps others as well. We want to provide our associates with access and even some accommodation but do not want to be manipulated in the endeavor. Sold a pair of RF7's here and the guy really scrubbed the price promising they were for his own enjoyment. Found them for sale 1 week after delivery for more $$$. There's nothing wrong with watching out for each other or pointing out scams or gouging.

  22. This is a topic on which there will never be consensus. I'm guilty of calling attention to what I feel are outrageous asking prices or claims regarding Klipsch items on eBay or CL. To some degree, those offering items with inflated prices or claims invite such criticism. A recent post by yours truly, suggested that an eBay seller of rebuilt or refinished Heresy speakers needed some fresh air. On one hand, the seller is free to make whatever claims and/or ask whatever prices he/she sees fit. On the other hand, others are free to criticize those prices or claims. It's hoped it can be done without mean-spirited personal attacks. Ultimately, the market will decide if a price is reasonable. Potential buyers and sellers can benefit from the informed opinions of members of this forum. The eBay seller of the Heresy speakers was probably not expecting members of this forum to bid on the speakers. Civility is the key.

  24. Finally got the boat launched last weekend. The season is so short here - June to September 15th. The hull is a mess and needs to be pressure washed as it is all moldy. So I bought a monster pressure washer at Lowe's yesterday and some nasty cleaning solution. Guess I will give it a go today. Finish off the rest of my Duggan's whilst I complete my work. (Notice how the Duggan's has given me a Brit/Irish vocabulary). Painters got a good 4 hours in yesterday. Don't know how they maintain such a grueling schedule!

  26. Why is a public discussion of an item for sale "rude?" The questions and opinions are equally relevant to all prospective buyers. What is the "secret?" If this logic was correct, Consumer Reports would be the "rudest" publication on the planet. Again, I do not defend comments made to embarrass, harass or intimidate the seller. This has been a source of disagreement since I first joined the Forum and will not be resolved in this thread. We all have our opinions and mine is that as long as the questions and opinions are relevant to the sale and made in a respectful, businesslike manner, they are legitimate. We just disagree. No need to get personal.

  30. Well its that time of year again to experiment with a new speaker build. My last speakers were dbb's using the crites cw1526c woofers. Having owned all the heritage line I was never fully happy with the bass. The dbbs was definitely a step up from my lascalas. Never being content, over the last few years I managed to acquire 4 jbl 2242 18 inch woofers. My original idea was to use them as subs, but went another route. So last fall I built dual bass bins for them and they replaced the crites woofers in my 3 ways. I have to say from 40-300hz they are monsters of slam, but they drop pretty fast after 350hz. So I have decided to build a pair of jwc's 233hz tractrix horns and mate them to a pair of jbl 2485j 2 inch compression drivers. The final design is going to be: - jbl 2242 dbbs from 40-350hz - jbl 2485j on the 233hz tractrix horn from 350-3500hz - b&c de250 on a seos 12 horn from 3500hz-20khz When it is all said and done if it doesn't work out I picked up a pair of peavey fh1 bins from Claude and could use them from 100-500hz and go 4 way using the 2242's from 35-120hz. I finished a prototype of the 233fc tractrix. I threw it together in about an hour so it will not win any awards in the looks department, but it allowed me to get a few quick measurements. I had to take it in room as I have no way to go outside and take measurements. Here is the graph taken 1 meter from the mouth of the horn at 0 deg

  31. I find this post INSULTING. Why do you have to discuss the quality of the cake on an open forum? Wouldn't a PM be sufficient? I, for one, find this to be rude and unacceptable! Sure, some people will try and rationalize this type of behavior, but I think, and most Members agree with me that this type of thing has no place on this Forum!

  37. Seems like a lot of the time it is the same person over and over again. I will admit that I'm not totally innocent myself. However I do appreciate when someone posts what certain speakers or what not are going for. The reason being that I may be looking at that item somewhere besides the forum. When someone gets nasty on the forum, I don't feel bad at getting nasty with them. Kinda like Karma.

  38. Like I said some will justify it. But its still what it is. Complaining about the price on something your not even going to buy has no place imo. I gave you a thumbs up on your post for that, but I felt the need to give you an additional "+100" for your common sense regarding comments on replying to market place ads. "If you can't say something nice, then ..."

  40. Congrats on your new Chorus speakers! I have owned many different sets of the Chorus, Chorus II, Forte & Forte II's. I have always preferred the Chorus because the midrange seems a bit more forward and better pronounced. Also the Chorus is quite a bit louder for those party nights and the commercial grade 15 can really take a lot of abuse. The Forte II does have "different" bass response, a bit lower but at the same time I think just a tad slower than the Chorus. Really they sound much more alike than different though as both are excellent. Sensitivity and sheer output are the most notable differences in my opinion.

  44. If my memory serves it was not long ago you asked "HOW TO LISTEN" I dont recall anyone calling you an idiot.................Its simple act as you would like to be treated It is Obvious to me the op is not experienced in audio, and therefore you must understand they wont know every angle involved with audio.............I can agree I would have certainly investigated my warranty B-4 waiting years however I dont personally know the op reason for waiting.................for all we know the op could have had any number of issues preventing his investigating speaker / receiver repairs And again calling someone an IDIOT without the details is quite Idiotic, It is also no help at all

  45. You will need to dump the PD4 and get another PD5. The Jensen woofers are nice. If they're in good shape, keep them. I know it's hard to believe - but you can still run your Type As without changing anything. You just need a PD5 and some nice Jensen paper in oil capacitors.

  46. It's really easy. Just hot glue the resistor to the board next to the existing resistor, wrap the leads around the edge of the board and put a dot of solder to parallel them with the neighboring resistor.
