Elijah Wood tweeted us last night with a picture of his Klipsch La Scala and the Klipsch Hobbit t-shirt! For those wondering, we don't pay for Elijah to use La Scalas. He's just a big fan who tweeted us one day about it. Apparently, he is a big-time audiophile. Check out the tubes!2 points

I don't read many threads on this forum any more but when I do I see more and more members responding to sale threads not with interest in the item but with a bunch of smart a$$ quips and comments about the sellers item or asking price. That is usually followed with a slathering of salve explaining what a close knit bunch of smart a$$es we are here reasoning that is what called for the welcoming responses. Not that we had any interest in the item in the first place. WTF isit whit dat? Keith2 points

I picked this up from a family friend that is moving. It was made by her brother-in-law who was a pilot. He was also an engineer at Ohio State. Not a bad pickup for the little guy's.2 points

Al K's expertise is real. His crossovers are excellent performing works of art. Unfortunately, his diplomatic skills are no better than his spelling. Whether banned or self exiled, this forum lost a valuable asset. Thin skin doesn't work well on an online forum.2 points

30' Sea Ray with twin 350's. Four barrel carbs are great on 89 octane gas, which is selling for $5/gallon on the lake. By the way, ALWAYS wear shoes when using an 1800 psi pressure washer. I didn't and my feet look like raw meat. How about you ETH2? 30' w/twin 350s! that sucker must fly ! Can pass anything on the water except a gas pump2 points

This isn't CL, Ebay or the local free "want ads". Most of the crew here isn't going to post any merchandise at an unreasonable price and I think its safe to say, the majority here know where the market is on just about anything even well outside of audio. When a stranger shows up with a single post advertising what they have, they should expect to get feedback of what is going to sell here or not. I have seen a post like this go ignored and the OP give out a second post of something like "What, no takers on this?" and then someone pipes up and lets them know where their item is trading or has traded recently and then the OP has a fit. Im certainly not saying new member sellers or even old should be bullied and what not. These acts and the "ribbing" should be reserved for the fellow members and fellow "friends" of the forum. The forum stranger or "newb" in the crowd is always going to be offended easier among strangers. They usually think they have a rare bird and seldom get the news they want and coming from an internet stranger never helps. What gets my Goat, is when someone posts a sell item and get interest with several replies, string folks along and then say "I decided to keep them" or "it"2 points

JWC is the person who told me about those amps, Thank You for that and much more. He suggested the D-75's which I tried two of and are still using them today and feel no need to change. I have to say if you ever have the chance to meet him do yourself a favor and meet him. You can look at all my post and see I don't just say things like that, but JC is one of the smartest people I have ever met and couldn't be nicer. I know others who know him well would say the same thing, this is no BS. I hope he don't read this, but it's true.2 points

Poplar, being a soft even grained wood, if sanded smooth like to 230 grit, will take a water or oil base stain well. I see your stands have both light and dark grain, the stain will mute that some but you will still see the difference. I haven't worked with the stain and poly all in one so I can't speak for it. If possible, I would test sample on the back.1 point

I'm running a decware TorriV 25wpc valve amp, I thought it would tame the horns a little, but to no avail, changed the valves to NOS mullards and telefunkens for a warmer sound, and the only big step forward was when I added a 1970's Audio Research valve preamp, turned the treble down a little, bass up a little and presto!!! I like the sound I'm getting now after months of experimenting. Nice bass and clear highs.1 point

Hello, I'm new to the forum here but have owned many pairs of the Chorus I & II and Forte I & II. All are exceptional speakers and some of the best ever made by Klipsch in my opinion. Good luck with whatever you end up with!1 point

I find this post INSULTING. Why do you have to discuss the quality of the cake on an open forum? Wouldn't a PM be sufficient? I, for one, find this to be rude and unacceptable! Sure, some people will try and rationalize this type of behavior, but I think, and most Members agree with me that this type of thing has no place on this Forum!1 point

I prefer to just hand over the ipad and let guests pick out music that suits their own list of favorite tunes. That way they already have an established baseline for how they think something should sound and are guaranteed not to get bored by whatever music I may pick out.1 point

The Very Best of Chicago (although by far, not my favorite band, plenty of horns), Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd, Joe Bonamassa - Live from the Royal Albert Hall Blu ray in DTS, Steely Dan - Aja, just to mention a few.1 point

Im sure everyone who does it can justify it. But its still rude no matter how many ways you spin it. And to avoid that a simple pm would do.1 point

There's been lots of garage sales within a mile of my house. I bought a box of 97 albums for $20. I saw a pair of ADS speakers for $25 - I don't really know anything about old ADS speakers, but I bought them anyway. I continued talking to the gentleman selling them and he said he brought them back from Vietnam. Then he asked me if I was into old stereos. I answered that I didn't really know too much, but I'm just getting into speakers. He recalled that he brought back an old Sansui stereo with the speakers, but hadn't used it in years. So as I loaded the speakers he went into his basement and pulled it out and plugged it in. The light came on. He said give me $10 for it. I got home and the receiver wasn't putting out any sound, but I sprayed some deoxit and started jiggling the pots until both speakers kicked in. So what I wound up with was a Sansui 9090 receiver and a pair of ADS L810 and I think they sound great together!1 point

Well yes, they call it Glaucoma preventive maintenance. No not really I am just kidding, if were completely legal yes, maby. It would be a little tough explaining why the house an land were being seized. Funny you say that some one around here must be doing that, we have had black helicopters flying 20' above the trees for long periods in some areas, going up and down the wooded areas looking for something. I didn't care it wasn't me, it's definitely not worth it growing here except if your in it for money and that's really crazy, I'm allergic to jail. It's a misdemeanor / ticket in this state to have 1 1/8 oz or less in your possession so they are extremely tough on larger amounts. But crazy people do crazy things, including blowing up houses while trying to make meth, the new redneck drug. Most of these drugs these days are worse than some of the old time drugs, I have no use for that kind of crazy. like that comedian says , You can't fix stupid !1 point

I just sat here typing and I could not explain it without it being way to long, erased it and started over. Ask any questions, if something does not make sense, I am trying to make it short believe it or not, I not really retired unless you ask my daughter or wife. Was somewhat forced to retire from our last job landscaping by a storm, My mothers health (diabetes) was causing her health to go downhill fast, losing a leg, most of her sight and use of one arm. (I told her if she was a horse we would have to shoot her, she thought it was hilarious) We put the house in my daughters name and what little was left to pay it off (less than 1/4 of appraisal) was taken over by her, she is a RN. We built this house 100% ourselves, never hired anyone for anything. I then watched my mother for the next few years and my sister would take her home at night most of the time. My mother died at the very end of 2012, I know I did the right thing and we both really appreciate those last few years. My wife does custom sewing and embroidery and stays very busy and is very good at what she does. As you can imagine watching my mother provided 0 income, so we have become very good at having little or no income. I do a little electrical and a little work on water pumps and construction here and there to help. Our daughter (the RN) and my wife does not want me to go back to work, it has been a fight, I stay busy but really feel useless, I have worked all my life. They want me to just keep fixing up the house and property which I want to do but I should be doing more. Part of the problem is I am close to 57. I have done electrical work offshore and on houses for years, restaurant management, insurance, and building gardens for the last 15+ years. I got pretty good at those and did fine but very bored and moved on to something new about every 10 years or less, except for the landscaping which we loved but had to give up. My wife was at one time a secretary, did insurance for almost 20 years before working with me doing landscaping. I want to contribute, but it's a fight every time I bring it up. It's like they think I am going to drop dead soon and all they want me to do is have a good time and do what I want. Unless they know something I don't I don't get it ? I know I have lived longer than any male in my family but I am not dead yet and can still do much more. I feel stuck and useless and sometimes get upset about this which seems to make them even more insistent I call it retired, I'm screwed. So technically I am homeless and unemployed, strange how crap works, I would have never thought it would end like this. Except for this little problem I have been very lucky and were happy.1 point

Down sized June1 2013 and decided to turn it into retirement. Our small company (consulting) went from a high of 25 employees down to 9. So....worked in human services (probation, parole, mental health) for twenty years and consulting in land use development and housing for the next twenty. Except for lack of discretionary income I am enjoying retirement and setting my own schedule. Volunteer at the library two mornings a week resurfacing CDs and DVDs.1 point

One of my favorite time saving tools, the Jasper Jig. It's perfect for cutting circles. The jig has the ability to cut circles from a little under 3" to 19". All you do is drill an 1/8" hole where you want the center of the hole to be and install the supplied 1/8" steel dowel in the hole. Next you find the corresponding dimension on the jig that you want to cut and put that hole on the dowel. The driver for this build needed a 14" hole.1 point
