  2. Got up at 6 this morning so I could have the pool pump motor at the pool supply house when they opened at 9. Had some 8O'clock coffee at 6 O'clock. Didn't seem right with the time difference and all, oh well. Fired the motor up at the shop and it was dead silent. Brought it back home and looked for rub marks on the impeller and housing. Nothing there. Threw it all back together and..............silent. It's been quiet all day, don't know what was making it wail yesterday and at this point I could care less. I'll spend the rest of the afternoon picking out my cocktail of choice for this evening. Cheers

  7. So yesterday is payday. My rent was raised $100 per month. My paycheck reduced by $68 per month. Turns out the retirement portion paid by the employee was raised again. I now pay over $910 per month towards retirement. With retirement, taxes, medical … 49% of my check is gone before i see it. oh well, at least i have a job,

  9. That's funny, I thought I was the only one to do that, I think there are laws about wasting coffee, or there should be. It's one of my favorite ways, it makes the waiting much easier.

  11. Morning, just got done brewing a pot myself. But as I waited I heated up a left over cup from the night before, not to bad. Waiting to call my step dad over for breakfast, bacon and eggs. Ok I am starting to worry a little. Its still early, take your time, and remember like Elvis said only fools rush in. Same here, looking at highs in the 90s with high humidity. Sounds like me last night as well, I was falling asleep at the computer desk while researching the JBL Caberet, or what I thought was the JBL Caberet.

Her date kept his hand on her knee the entire night Another has her eye on someone else and waiting for him to ask her out But she will keep me in mind So the more I know about women the more I like Jake. Humidity has returned....glad I got the yard done yesterday. Finished the second may try a third with some Duggan's Cheers Gents

  19. When I was in college my fraternity brother had a pair of Klipsch speakers..not sure of the model but they were big and when powered by my Yamaha CR-2020 were so loud the other fraternities were calling the police to complain about the volume. Currently I have a CA-2010 that's been checked by two technicians and they are amazed at how well it performs and sounds without any replacements. I am checking it on a regular basis to make sure everything's ok. I'm planning i'm dedicating my custom Heresy's to a tube system but I will try them out with my Yamaha as well.

  22. I like the Yamaha too! The CA-2010 integrated lives up to the "Natural Sound" name but there is also something really special about the CR-2020. The Pioneer is guaranteed to liven up the bass! Paul79 is well acquainted with my Pioneer SX-1250 since he is the one who built it! He will take good care of your old solid state if you need. If you never had your 40 year old amp or receiver recapped I highly recommend that you give Paul a call! His attitude seems to be pretty much that he is going to do things the right way and completely... and no BS. Thanks Paul! Now you've got me thinking about combing garage sales for an old 2330!

  23. Klipsch saved the day and then some!!! Last week I visited New York for the first time since moving to Florida in the beginning of May. Before I flew out on Thursday I was informed that an event I was attending was in need of sound because something fell through. So rather than having my friends renting and wasting money on professional sound I volunteered my time and Heresy II speakers to power the event along with a KRK 10 subwoofer and an Onkyo A/V Receiver. The event went off without a hitch and I can say the sound performed better than most rigs I have used in Live Venues around New York City. Over 200 people attended the 10th Annual Drum & Bass BBQ and I saw nothing but smiles. I can honestly say I did not even have to come close to turning up the sound to the max to get desired volumes. I was told the sound could be heard from outside Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh too. So once again Klipsch sound did not disappoint. Thanks for making kick *** speakers that can hold up to anything!!!! 24. Hi, I just joined this forum, thanks! I have just bought a pair of Belles and they are on their way. Reading this thread is getting me excited! I'm planning to run them with my 50W per channel vacuum tube amplifier, in the back room (no room inside!), and hopefully bring them out under a covered patio for my vinyl get-togethers. I'll get used to them, then of course upgraditis will kick in! Can't wait! Geoff

  27. That's funny, I thought I was the only one to do that, I think there are laws about wasting coffee, or there should be. It's one of my favorite ways, it makes the waiting much easier. Leftover reheated coffee is what turned me on to black coffee. It was a cold winter day with nothing to do, and for some reason it sounded good. So I went with it, and it's been that way ever since. In the winter I have my normal 2-3 cups in the morning. When I come from work I reheat the leftover to relax.

  28. Have a chance to pick up a Marantz 1060 integrated amp, and a Pioneer SX-1250 receiver, both of which in superb condition. Beautiful vintage look, silver faces, the whole deal....However, am wondering about how these play with Heritage speakers, namely Heresy, Cornwall, Belle's....Anyone with experience here? Thanks. Jim

  31. Just throwing this out there for the tinkerers, but this kinda sounds analogous to what what I've got shown below. At reduced listening levels, the EQ settings below work quite well by my ear. Transforms the stock La Scala sound into a more B&W style, laid-back sound. LaScalaEQ.jpg From your EQ settings, it appears you have basically smoothing the Lascala's response hump centered around 120hz, and reduced the output from 400-6k -6db like Dean is doing with his network. The tweeter reduction -3db just preference. Thanks for sharing. Dave

  32. I saw this at a yard sale for $50 all in working condition, I checked it out for about a 1/2 hour. It has a big fold out sheet of schematics and owners manual with it. http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/grundig_ks_650_u_ks650u_console.html When I read the specs 7 watts out per side I thought it should work ok with Klipsch speakers. On the back it has the din plugs for external speakers. Now I don't know if this design of amp (what ever it is, push pull?) would be worth all the trouble of setting it up as a stand alone stereo. This receiver is also sold as the stereomeister 300. Any thoughts. Thanks, Ben.

  34. I think the part quoted above is true. I believe that if the RSW-15s were to be placed out in the middle of the room, away from all walls (where no one would put them!), you would need 4 to equal one in the corner. Didn't Klipsch put the active driver in the back so that the wall (a few inches away) would load it? Have you talked to Klipsch? Are your bass traps tuned to a certain band of frequencies? REW should reveal all (I hope).

  40. Seems like certain older Tannoy models have become "collectible" and thus the goofy inflated prices. They do make some fine speakers though. I used to have a pair of their System 12 studio monitors, also duel concentric, which were quite nice and I was able to pick up used in the $400-500 range. Sold them when my K-horns came along.

  43. not the cube. the mini marty sub. the cube is the marty cube. the mini marty is the long one, not the longest but long for sure. if you have space build the big one. the full marty is the name of that one. otherwise go with the mini marty. and i would do the vertical build as it takes up way less space and IMO looks much better

  44. I go back and forth between the Pioneer and Yamaha with some Heresy 1's depending on my mood. Both are more power than I need. I don't get the Pioneer much past 9:00 usually. Looking for bass? Pioneer for sure

  48. Hello fellow Klipschers, Faced a few days at the bottom of the pit, lost people dear to me, still not easy to talk about it. Lost our beloved cat who died of cancer slowly. Life took a turn for the bad. Met the woman that changed my life and made me see beauty in the world. I have come out of the pit now, rebuild my audio systems , renovated my place. And am in the process of expanding what will be probably one of the most demented subwoofer arrays ever. Have over 40 pro amps and even some on order. Lets say car like SPL output down to 10Hz, with ease. 36 Drivers will be used powered by over 130Kw of amplification for the subs. Iown several units of almost all high performance subwoofer drivers from around the globe. My sickness is my passion. Fantasy world, yes of course. Being sourrounded by dozens of subs for no truly practical reason is some form of fantasy.
