  1. As most of you know I LOVE taking pics of audio gear and sharing it here with the Klipsch Community. If they say a picture is worth a 1000 words...how much is a video worth? Who knows but I thought I would try something different by posting a video of my setup. It's rare that we ever get to see who is behind the screename so I thought I would give you a snapshot of me and my Home Theater. Plus I just needed another reason to use my GoPro Hero3+ Black. Be sure to change it to 1080p in your youtube settings. To do so, you'll need to click on the Youtube link on the video and view it on Youtube instead of from within the Klipsch Forum. Enjoy

  6. I thought it a good time to come in and update as it seems like we are getting somewhere. We just met with a Dr, Dr Elzner (or Elsnor), who is in charge of the headache and migraine department here. He is to happy with the MRI that was done at the hospital a month ago or all of the various interpretations that came from it and has ordered a new one to be done this afternoon. He is of the belief that it's a passed on headache gene that came from her mother who gets migraines occasionally and something apparently awakened it. He is going to put her on a drug called DHE to get rid if the pain and the root cause of the pain. She may get to come home tomorrow find will most likely be prescribed daily preventative to obviously take care of it in advance. So if anything, we know she's as healthy as a horse and there's nothing terminal going on. Thanks for all of the prayers

  7. First Cup-0-Joe, done, brain scattered. But on the brighter side of life in the world of finely repoduced sound, yesterday marked the 50% complete stage, on the speaker build. Adding what i thought was missing from the sound, Two K400 Horns form LaScalas, the Eaw stacks seem to sound a tad better. Finished the install of the horns into the stacks and had maybe an hour run time by the time the wife came home. She walks into the Cave w/twany port in hand, and all she says is what the hell did you do to those speakers? they sound like the old Scala stacks we had ! but better. Being a fresh install, not having time to fiddle with adjustments/knobs, she promply dials in the Bass/Treble on the Pre, ask me to play some Fav tunes of hers, then kind of gives me the "Look", sounds good, can we turn it up?.......Ah, my sound expert rarely ask me to do that, she said they are dialed in, and pleased we have the Horn sound back. Reward her with trip to the pub. (and gave the neighbors a break).

  12. Don't worry if you see me on Tv the odds are it would be the news for something stupid I did. Teeth I am missing enough already, can't afford to lose any more. Although for a bucket of cash the nice dentist gave me some new ones, he wanted to pull them all and replace, I'm not into pain so I just replaced the two I broke off. Leaving in the AM, wife packing now, my job is to grab the camera bag/tripod and get in the car when she is ready. We will have fun, we have no idea what were going to do but it doesn't make a difference really.

  14. This crossover was shared with the forum by John Albright and is used by some forum members, including Marvel, who reports pleasing results with LaScalas and SET amps. Here's the schematic, below. I've looked through the forum archives for a pic, but have not been able to locate one. Does anyone have a pic of this crossover they might post? Any take on the crossover and compare and contrast with others would be appreciated. Thanks.

  16. Dear all, Just to give an update... Finally my 1981 Cornwalls that I got from ebay are arrived. They came in extremely well packaged. They have travelled from US all the way down to here in the sandpit, almost half of the globe. Both are still in their original crossovers & drivers. Some scratches & dings on the veneer on both speaker but it's not so visible from seating position. I've been using 2-ch of RF62 for the last 6 years & these are my 1st Cornwalls ever. My set up are Denon 2809 receiver which goes through the VTA SP12 pre-amp & Latino's ST120 amp. Mostly I listen to jazz & classic using AppleTV (Flac), all using only 2-ch fronts. I placed those Cornwall right next to the wall on the side and around 60cm from the rear wall with toe-in about 45 deegrees to my listening position. Distance are around 3.5m between the CWs and 3m from each to my seating position. Compare to the RF62, at the same volume level & tone control set up, these Cornwall bring up more details, bass and wider sound stage. The bass is huge as to my taste and it's not boomy. The last two days i've been listening for at least 4-6 consecutive hours and it wasn't fatiguing. When i played Norah Jones' "Seven Year", the sounds of the hands on the strings can be heard in more details. Roberta Flack's voice was heard just like she sing up in front of me. The sound of Coltrane's sax also much more details & I could hear some of his breaths in between the passages. So far I love the way those 2 CWs sounding & I will do some upgrades on the crossover as well as the driver, but not in the near future. Thanks to all who gave me some helps on the info re: those "beasts". Warmest regards from the Sandpit, Jimmy PS: Herewith I attached pictures of the CWs.

  17. I have still have a pair of Electrovoice HP640 horns. The project will not get finished and the garage is overflowing. They need a home..... These have a 2 inch throat and can be used with a EV DH1a driver or JBL 2445/46 drivers or any other 2 inch drivers. These are CD horns, meaning they have a frequency response off-axis that is comparable to that measured on-axis (IOW, they don't beam as you go up in frequency). Their dispersion is narrow( 60 deg by 40 deg) and is controlled down to 500Hz in the horizontal and down to about 1800 in the vertical. They would be an advantage in a small room. They load down to about 500 Hz. With the right driver they can be used in a 2-way system. They are not small. They measure about 28 inch x 13 in x 17 deep (as I recall). On eBay they sell for about $75-150 each. I am giving these away for someone who can used them. Since I am taking a loss on them, you can imagine how willing I am to pack them up and ship them, etc. Enough said.... I am located in SE Connecticut (Groton area, near the Casino), about 1 hr from New Haven, Hartford, Providence. Or about 2 hr from Boston & New York. I hope someone has a vision and can use these. They do sound good and are probably quite a bit better than many of the horns I see discussed on this forum. PM please

  32. Thx Scrappy and Rog. I don't think any camera mic can do justice with audio, especially if you crank it up loud. The audio will begin to distort with the bass.

  38. Last thing I will say about this is ... If I would have left those pics up, I would have eventually lost my job over it. I have to look out for what's best for the Klipsch brand, and its great forum community. Photos such as those have no place in a forum like this. This is not about "Chad vs the forums" or anything of the sort. This is about me doing (and keeping) my job.

  40. Very good Arash The better you prepare the ply finish under the veneer the better the finish will be on the surface Also be careful with glue ripples underneath the veneer as it will show on the surface You may also consider pre glued veneer - this has heat activated glue and can make the job easier I am sure glue formulas have come a long way and this type of product may prove to be superior I recommend that you do some research

  42. OK everyone, probably will not be here for about 10-11 days starting in the AM. Just so you don't think I died, well I still could but it's not the plan. Going off to the East Tennessee area for a little while just to make sure the mountains are still there, I think they are but you can't be to sure. We are going in Minermark's NEW style of travel, ZERO plans except for taking some pic's and avoiding bears.

  43. I am sure your road show super AA crossovers sound great. That was never in question. I also seem to remember stating the Foil inductors performed far better than I had anticipated. Further more I said "There is more to consider when choosing an inductor than Q, but from a Q standpoint alone, Foil inductors don't belong in the woofer filter." Obviously there is more to an inductor than Q alone. Dave

  47. thats easy, I'm bald! Nooooooooooo!!!!! Wear a helmet and good armored gear. Always, always, always. Not one of those silly Harley beanies with matching leather vest either. A good one - full face Snell rated. Spend the big $$ on your brain before you go out and get a bunch of chrome and leather tassels. MSF course is an absolute must too. HELMET!

  48. thats what my best friend rides. i think I'm gonna go with the sportster as it is much more affordable for me. and i love the look of the 48 http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/forty-eight.html I just saw the specs on the Sportster, now I know exactly what it is. That class of bike is generically called a "naked bike." They are very hip these days. FWIW, I like the look of the Sportster as well. Just know what you are getting. Of course you can buy after-market windshields and such, but stock, there is no protection from the wind or cold. When you ride a bike you are VERY exposed to the weather. When it is cold, you are cold. IMO in such places as California where it is much warmer this is less of an issue, but just know that where you live, the temperature will vary a LOT from day to evening, and anything under 70 degrees on a naked bike start to feel cold. The gas tank is ONLY two gallons, that is VERY small. That will be good for only a little over an hour and a half of riding. Practically speaking, that means that after an hour of riding, you will be looking for a gas station. You will be spending a LOT of time in gas stations refilling that bike, no matter where or how you ride. What you WILL like is the light weight and easy handling. Although it is powerful, it won't rip your arms off with acceleration. That's a good thing. If you have a lot of curvy roads and like taking the back roads, this bike is for you. LOTS of fun! But...you will not be taking rides longer than 2 hours, it will feel like you are stopping just as you are getting started. In fact, 2 hours would be a MAX time, and your friends with larger gas tanks won't want to stop riding, but you will have to be stopping for gas. You will also find that short seat will give you a sore butt after a VERY short period of time. Those seats buzz your butt, and you have to move around or you will get uncomfortable, fast. The best way to stretch is to stretch to the rear. You will find yourself wanting to sit on that back fender, I guarantee you. You may find yourself looking forward to those frequent gas stops to stretch your legs. Going on an a short vacation riding 8 hours would not be very practical, with no wind protection. Having the wind whip through your hair as you enjoy the freedom of riding a bike wears a little thin after the wind has beaten you in the face for hours at a time. And get used to having bugs in your face and hit you in the chest. Lastly, this bike is made for solo riding only, so you will not be taking the wife. Since I hate having anyone ride on my bike, this would be a big plus for me! I'm not trying to talk you in or out of anything my friend, bikes are VERY personal and you should get the one you like that matches what YOU want. And unless you have unlimited funds, there are always compromises. That's why the bike I LIKE pictured above was the $20,000 BMW, and the one I bought was the $2,000 Suzuki. I'm just trying to give you a bit of heads-up on what's on the road in front of you.
