  3. This is an opportunity for a young entrepreneur. I would ask to see the spreadsheet of this inventory and find out how the values compare to real world prices. If there is $1.5 million or more in salable inventory, it would be viable. Even those books shown have value. If I were in my mid twenties again and I lived in the area, I would roll up my sleeves and jump right in. I would make a reasonable offer based on what I found, and possibly buy the property that houses the equipment if for sale. I would hire a couple of clever young people full time to stage and photograph and list on Ebay. When I was done, I would wholesale the rest out, clean up the building, and then sell it.

  4. I was worried I would gain weight, as I typically don't dine out. But your right I am constantly hungry do to burning every thing I eat within an hour. So we will be packing snacks and water for our journeys today. Now to find some coffee.

  5. Morning gang: It appears to be sunday, and i bet Duder has walked off a few pounds by now. Tarheel pointed out one time, when you retire, the day of the week is the first thing to go, he was right. So everyday when i fire up the Pc, the first click is on the time down in the lower right corner, i feel much better for doing this everyday, because sometimes it may be the only thing iv done for that day

  10. I hope you figure out a solution and maybe we can have a pair built. I just picked this center up from a forum member. Well, I didn't pick it up - he delivered it! But when I'm sitting in my chair the horn blocks the bottom of the screen - or the Broncos score in this case. Before the drywall went up, I wired a center channel speaker wire to the ceiling, in the event I wanted to mount my academy.

  12. Last night I saw this remake of the early 70s Charles Bronson movie and was very surprised (and gratified) to see some nice audio equipment in a number of scenes, including a Jolida tube amp!!! Not sure about the TT or speakers though. The movie was terrific, but all the more so because of the equipment. Maynard

  16. Funny, i looked at Al's feedback and he seems to be selling just fine. I for one am glad to see someone with such fine taste and willing to share those tastes later in life, as in selling some of the greatest condition stuff iv ever seen. im really going to make an effort today NOT to buy his fine Ham Radio goodies, may need to go with the wife to WallyWorld to take my mind off it.

  18. FSU wins over Clemson. Tigers need a better coach, with a 4th and 1 with one INCH to get a first in OT, even I know enough not to go into the shotgun and have the RB dance around in the backfield.

  27. Actually I have read the patent. So all the acoustic sources are placed in a "blender" and comes out coherent. Linear phase is a misnomer. A consistent phase curve that "goes down" is the best can do. Just measure acoustic phase of a single driver. So I guess the manifolds that klipsch and ev did and whoever else did them were also "linear phase"?

  31. its about 20 feet long. Jubilee's in each corner, nothing else on the wall at all. about 12 feet between each speaker. The empty space on the wall is where I project movies, The size of the screen is limited by the height of the centre channel. this is why I need to keep it as low profile as possible. I don't want to get into a screen. just want to use my wall...

  32. that is not going to fit well in the centre of my room. it will stick out a bit far. I need that wall to be and have a clean look.

  34. You got 56 channels? Man, you and I need to talk to figure out exactly "rural" means. Being in West Virginia, I am also "rural" and when I tested an over-the-air antennae, I got FOUR channels, TWO of which were PBS! +++ Have you thought about copy and pasting your original post to email and and sending it to Best Buy? I would be interested to know if they respond to you.

  35. Time for Auburn to wake up and play football losing 7-3 in the 2nd qtr and 0-4 on 3rd down. edit: halftime and K State should be up by 10 at least but down 10-7 due to missed opportunities.

  40. There is always the notion that in the ancient past things were better and that so called improvements were compromises. I think some of the early Cornwalls and Heresy used EV midrange horns which were of a diffraction design. The mouth aspect ratio was about 10:1. The theory was that diffraction would make for wide polars. Though I have not seen any polar plots. So the issue is where this diffraction effect would do the most good. Also in that time, there was consideration of where in the front baffle a driver should be placed. It was thought, IIRC, that a driver should be not symmetrically placed relative to an edge of the cabinet. So nothing can be in the middle. And there was a thought that if bass, mid, and tweeter were too close together they would interfere with each other. Further, maybe it was better to have some drivers spaced far to edge of the box to improve wide stereo effect. But then you need left-right pairs, or right-left pairs. Even up-down issues. Which is the best position? Additionally, there was a consideration of floor bounce versus wall bounce, as you mentioned. Which is worse or better? As you can image, the above requirements are contradictory or at least difficult to achieve at the same time. IMHO, PWK cut the Gordian Knot with what was then called the Cornwall II. It used his mid horn design based on something from Jensen. The K-400 (Klipschorn and LaScala), K-500 (Belle), K-600 (Cornwall), and K-700 (Heresy) are variations on the same theme. In all these, the mid and tweeter are close together and symmetric to the left-right edges. This seems to be followed to this day in the many Klipsch speakers. Best, WMcD

  41. Doc Holliday likes Marshall, and at this point in his life I don't know if he would be interested in a venue change. Who knows, but he grew up in Hurricane just down the road, and being around family will play a part. He attendedd WVU, but I think those people have not only burned the bridge with Holliday, I think they tore up the roads going to the bridge. He should be the head coach of WVU, but he told me he was glad Marshall had the confidence in him. He may be the best thing to ever happen to Marshall football. Randy Moss, Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington are all Marshall alums. In fact, there are 49 NFL alums, and 9 of them are in the NFL today. Those are some decent stats, and thanks to Doc Holiday's recruiting skills, we will be feeding many more soon.

  43. Marshall whooped up on the Ohio University Bobcats 44-14 yesterday. It was a great game. We actually had 5 penalties in a single drive early in the game. I was losing hope. We actually scored a 3 pointer in that drive. The last OU-Marshall game I went to, we lost our butts. It was an away game, and every time they scored on us, they shot a canon. We left late in the 4th quarter, and it was a torturously long walk to the car, as the canon went off twice on the way to the car. We got retribution!

  49. I built my own record cleaner that worked well for along time. I used an old ice cream machine motor, a modified vacuum cleaner crevice tool, Two ratchet sockets, a small oreck vacuum, two pieces of round acrylic, epoxy, velvet, and a nut and bolt. First I used a dremel tool to cut a slot length wise in the crevice tool. The length of the slot spans the record grove area. Then I squared off the end of the tool and glued a wooden plug in the end. I used contact cement to cover either side of the slot with velvet. I drilled several breather holes on the tool to control the amount of suction. I cut two pieces of round acrylic the diameter of a record label and drilled a record sized hole in the middle. I epoxied a nut in the bottom of one of the 9/16 sockets and a bolt in bottom of the other. The record goes between the round acrylic and the nut an bolt get spun on to grip the record. The 9/16 socket happened to fit on the plastic hex drive of the ice cream machine. I fit the record in between the two acrylic/socket assemblies and thread the other acrylic/socket side on through the hole in the record. I insert one of the sockets in the motor. Spray the cleaning fluid on the record. Give it a light brushing and vacuum. I then flip the record inserting the other socket and repeat. I will post a picture when I get home. PS: The ice cream maker was salvaged from the local dump. It died. I am looking for another one with the same 9/16 drive. In the mean time I got a nitty gritty and it works just as well with a higher wife acceptance factor. If I find a motor I may end up selling the machine parts less the vacuum.
