Good morning my friends (greeting the 2nd) Here is what arrived the other day, and will be this morning's project, and a big enhancement to Music Hall for streaming HD live performances... After research, I found that cNet gave this line of ultra 4X'ers there top honors and bang for the buck ;0))) This makes FOUR Visio products in this home ! The rush is ON because my paid subscription to the Berlin Philharmonic live concert starts at 12:45pm. eastern....and it will be a good test / benchmark.... Mount project now in progress...8 points

Moonshine, insect larva, worms ...man!! Gettin' old, I guess. Somehow those tasty tidbits just lost their appeal. Back in the day (assuming I was already drunk enough) they would've been a challenge I couldn't ignore ...now I'm with MKP on the booze deal. The family is grateful for that!! Hey ..we streamed 'The Martian' over Vudu last night ..highly recommended. Plans for today include framing up another movie poster for the HT room. We already have Young Frankenstein, Rio Bravo, The Birds, Easy Rider and one or two others. New one is from The Old Man and the Sea (Spencer Tracey classic). Have a good Saturday guys and cheers. Back in my drinking day, I was in Alabama and we would get Ever Clear....I remember on the bottle there was a warning...."extremely flammable".....yeaaaaa man.....that stuff would take your breath away... Also back in the day when I lived in El Paso we would go over to Juares Mexico and buy bottles of Mescal.....it's got the worm in the bottom....We would buy a few big bottles and one time we got like 50 miniatures.....they all had the worm....that weekend I ate so many worms I got sick....that was one of those 3 day hangovers....lol lol It really is a good thing I stopped drinking...... Got to taste the real thing for the first time this past summer and was really surprised how good it was, much smoother than expected with less bite than a normal liquor . What I find interesting is that Tennessee only recently lifted the ban on distilling moonshine in 2009. Now instead of stumbling upon an old still deep in the Appalachians and risk being shot at, you can go to the Ole Smoky Distillery in Gatlinburg Tennessee and freely spend an afternoon sampling all kinds of different flavors of the hooch. .6 points

Back to Moonshine, I had a good customer, plant manager in NE Tennessee who always had some very goog 'shine handy. He lived on a small lake where after work would invite me out on his pontoon to relax. One fine evening a jug of 'shine was aboard and we had a few, a waaay too many few. The next morning a small boat approached, his wife, looking for her husband and me as the plant had called wondering where he was as he had missed his usual 6:30am arrival. We had both passed out, luckily with life jackets on, and were floating on this small lake in an un-piloted pontoon boat. The pontoon had crested a small log which more or less kept us contained to a small area. For that night the term Moonshine certainly fit. My final and last adventure with Tennessee 'shine.5 points

The label says "excessive consumption may stimulate laxative effects" Yea I can see that happening I took the close up picture wondering if anyone would read the label. Also notice the ingredient of "insect larva."5 points

Just the mention of Ever Clear (notice the bottles of Ever Clear in this picture) grain alcohol brought back a few memories when we used to go into the Polish-Czech area of E 65th and Broadway in Cleveland Ohio back in the late 1970s and drink Krupnik at some old Polish-American Citizens Club with Polka music emanating throughout the place from old 78 rpm records. I've used Ever Clear and Galens 190; however, the old Polish women would use something like a 192 Proof Spirytus grain alcohol, with lots of honey and about 50 spices. Overall it was practically a two-day process where these women would spend lots of time over a hot stove stirring pots to make the stuff. I believe that you can buy some type of Krupnik at the liquor stores nowadays; however, it sure doesn’t compete with the real stuff. Real Krupnik starts out with that intense alcohol taste; however, then the magical aspect happens. The flavor is more of an alcohol-laced taste of a very rich and spicy honey/gingerbread type of flavor that sure can warm a person all over in this cold weather. Talk about experiencing a “vision quest” or some type of spritual experience, I sure believe it can be found after several shots of good Krupnik. .5 points

I would think everyone's different, just depends, but if it expands for more than 4 hours see a doctor, so they say, never had that problem ? Haha….that's a good one I'd call a doctor………TO THANK HIM! I don't think my wife would be very happy at all.5 points

...thanks for the likes my friends.... this is turning out to be fantastic... The audio is very dynamic with this digital broadcast and the Khorns of course make all come together (0: Here, the Visio running for only it's first few moments.....no time to tweak, that will be after the concert... ....before the intro begins and musicians enter onto the stage.......during the opening work....French Horn section....totally factory setting if only a bit too bright, but the color is nice and not over done! The LED 'zones' make for nice contrast quality too ;0)4 points

That stuff is rough, back in the crazy days we would make punch with it for parties, grape juice was about all that would help kill the flavor. Nasty stuff, I had some left in a bottle once and want to get rid of it. i put it in a gas tank of a push mower and it ran, really it did but the smell from the exhaust still smelled like Everclear, never again. We used to call the punch we would make with the Galens 190 the "wisdom punch."4 points

When I was a kid we used to chant, "corn liquor gets to the brain a whole lot quicker." There in lies the main difference as I perceive it in that moonshine, white lightning, or hooch is purely corn-based where as whiskey tends to use various grains such as barley, rye, wheat (although sometimes corn); and often malted or germinated into a dried cereal-type grain.4 points

Doesn't it just go from being moonshine to whiskey. I always thought moonshine was a term used for making it illegally. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk4 points

Ok I did try some of that, our daughter brought us some, I didn't think it was real and thought it was just a marketing thing calling it moonshine. Well i guess i tried it a few times. The other stuff was in a quart mason jar and a gallon jug, no flavors, it was bought by a friend from another friend who I didn't even know was making it, they keep it quiet, i think it's illegal in that state ? These people knew what they were doing, they could shake up the bottle and watch the bubbles to tell what proof it was, I had no idea, I just did the tasting.4 points

OK, I have NEVER been one to beat around the bush, or worry about stepping on toes, and this is no time for me to change my M.O.!! Christy had asked for people to write little notes that she would pass on to Ms. Valerie as she is having some health problems and is presently in a Nursing Home and as any of us would in that situation, could probably use some cheering up One of the forum members suggested we take up a collection to send Ms. Valerie some flowers, and Christy said if we wanted to send the money to her, she would take it upon herself to do the leg work and make it happen! I contacted Christy to ask how she wanted me to send $20, and she said that I might as well keep it as not one single Klipsch Forum member had sent a single dollar and she wasn't going to twist anyone's arm! WELL, I aint that Damn nice!!! We have Doctors, Dentists, Lawyers, self made business owners here and nobody can chip in 20 bucks??? If you own VRDs, McIntosh, Juicy Music, Paladiums, Jubes, Klipschorns, Belles, Clear Audio TT, Vue stylus, etc., and can't throw $20 to make Paul's Widow smile in her final years while she still can, if you have been a member here for years and post at least weekly and can't throw 20 bucks towards some flowers for Paul's widow, then you make me want to puke Search your heart, if you enjoy this place and use it regularly, think of it as dues!! I am going to contact Christy and see if she will post an address and means to send the money. THIS NEEDS TAKEN CARE OF!!!! Roger3 points

No, you want to store the bundles of hardwood flooring within the area to be installed if possible. Or at least the same temperature/humidity. Storage time probably depends on the weather, humidity, and how dry the bundles are. The guy I worked for had a meter or some such to check humidity of the wood, if I recall... You don't want them to buckle...that sucks. What really sucks is water damage. We repaired a floor at a summer home more or less. The owners winter elsewhere, and a pipe had broke in the home in the kitchen area. The water was turned off fairly quick, and most damage was contained to the kitchen. Still, what a buckled discolored mess...you gotta tear all that up, replace the vapor barrier, then fit in new pieces. Then you have to re-finish the repaired area to match the rest of the floor...if it's a stained floor, that even sucks worse. Pergo, a engineered flooring, (MDF with pictures of wood printed on them, as the guy I worked would always say) may not be as critical to cold/humidity levels as regular hardwood flooring. Not too sure, however. My mother's place had the kitchen done in engineered flooring, it's been at least five-six years and the flooring has held up really well and still looks nice.3 points

My mom used to back in the day. As a parent I do, but manly cause no one can decide on dinner ideas and its an easy one. Yup French toast, eggs, hash browns, sausage or bacon, and of coarse coffee. My son will say, "dad you can't drink coffee for dinner" then I will say but its breakfast. Its funny how folks love breakfast through out the day. But how many people actually eat breakfast in the morning with in an hour after they wake up?2 points
