  2. Selling my La Scala's. They are in excellent shape. Sound fantastic. I installed ALK Universal crossovers as well as wood Fastrac horns. I am in the Phoenix area, obviously it is difficult to ship these. Glass protective tops included. I have the original horns and crossovers as well. Asking $1600, not interested in trades. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for looking. Mark *could not add the second serial number pic, it was too large. Can re-take tomorrow and post.

The Explorer 'Interceptor' is pretty hot looking and so is the Dodge Durango for that matter... http://code3.jalopnik.com/what-the-police-spec-2016-ford-explorer-has-that-your-m-1685166241

  5. Judy has a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost 2.3l. Puts out about 320 HP. She had a 2010 370Z Nismo with a rear mounted turbo, but decided she wanted something a little tamer and quieter. The Mustang is awesome! Picture files are too big to load. Don't have time to downsize right now.

  10. The tile floor snickered at the tile breaker Incremental progress though. The first worker was a no show. The second came and looked at it and declined. The third brought his tile breaker and worked for an hour and quit. So I called a tile worker and carefully explained the floor composition....an inch of mortar, metal lathe, thin set, tile. He says he is not scared He has heavier tools for the job. Cost is an unknown Looking forward to having coffee with akdave Saturday morning while he is here in the Port City

  12. Good morning all. The caffeine is flowing. I know the feeling. It's a curse. Fortunately, age has cured me. After I sold the Rotus, I bought a 97 Miata on a whim with every intention of installing another BOP/Rover 3.5 liter aluminum V8. I met a Ford engineer who had put a Buick 215 in a Miata. It was very cool. The aluminum V8 was barely any heavier than the 4 banger it replaced. Even with the resources he had at Ford, the conversion was very complicated and expensive. Furthermore, that Miata was the most dependable car I ever owned. Whereas the motor was regularly pulled from the Rotus to address chronic issues with a Tilton hydraulic throwout bearing, I never once had to pull the motor in the MX5. :-) I eventually sold the Miata un-bastardized. The attached photo of the Miata has been posted before. Are you familiar with the following site? Dan LaGrou knows 215s. http://www.aluminumv8.com/ While I didn't stuff a V8 in it, I did turbo charge my '93.

  15. I just got a chunk of cash handed to me that 2 people in the world know about. It was nothing illegal, just not traceable, so settle down. Anyway - I've been dreaming about RF7s in my living room and I can now afford to get them without causing a rift. My wife will notice them in about a week and ask where they came from. I'll say I traded speakers X to so and so for them. So that's covered. Now - What to get? RF7 v I - Used? RF7 v II - Used? RF7 v II - B Stock - New? I want Cherry and from what others say, the B stocks are the same speakers with inconsistent grain. Is it worth the 40% savings over new? Are the IIs that much better sounding than the Is? Thanks for your input and keeping it on the DL.

  16. The music device you referenced is designed to prey on the heightened emotions and insecurities of new parents with false promises of more intelligent children. Don't fall for it. Your child will be beautiful, and pink, and have all her fingers and toes, and will be OK in life because she will grow up in stable family with two parents who love her. How do I know this? Because for 94 babies out of 100 that's how it works. Thanks WVU80! We are truly blessed and am happy we are at a point in our lives we are ready and able to have children. As for the device, the OP was written with a heavy dose of sarcasm due to its absurdity. I mean, exposing your unborn baby to a crappy dome and cone single driver and having him be born thinking that is 'normal'. No way.

  25. Well, many people have changed the Cornscala image with different horns (such as the Fastracs and others) that others say outperform the K400 horn. I believe you're correct about the possible look at Volti's success. I'm basically looking at all the dogging of Klipsch that some in the hifi world do, not realizing that the La Scala was a one time a Class A product, as well as the Palladiums. Many in the high-end look down on Klipsch, but yet and still, I see their influence all across the landscape. Just goes to show how much PWK knew, and although technology changes - good speaker design is just good speaker design....even if it's old.

  26. Regarding pricing, it sure wouldn't be the first time that someone reporting on an event got the pricing wrong. There would sure be some very interesting choices competing for those dollars in the $20,000 to $30,000 price range. Regarding beryllium compression drivers, there are many less expensive options for compression drivers with beryllium diaphragms on the market now and I would be interested to learn what brand he is using. Radian practically carries a full line now for each of its compression driver models and Eighteen Sound has expanded its product line to include beryllium diaphragms. There are also other options available to those building speakers. However, I have not explored these drivers mainly because other issues in life need to take priority right now; and, while being much less expensive than TADs, the initial investment (e.g., "cost to play") is much higher than the used JBLs and Altecs, since few of these new Beryllium compression drivers are available on the secondary audio parts markets. In addition, I have not seen many response curves published yet and when I do, in general, it seems to me that this new generation of Beryllium compression drivers have not yet refined the phase plug to highlight the advantages of Beryllium and still tend to roll-off the higher frequencies rather than extend. The old TAD compression drivers with beryllium diaphragms have an extra slit in the phase plug, which I suspect helps extend the high frequencies rather than roll-off. Radian Audio http://www.radianaudio.com/beryllium/ US Speaker lists multiple Radian models with the beryllium diaphragms on its site and carries a 2" throat 651BePB Radian for $699.95 each. http://www.usspeaker.com/hfcompressiondrivers-1.htm ND1480BE with a 3 inch premium Beryllium dome - polymer surround diaphragm http://www.eighteensound.com/PRODUCTS456/Products123/ProdID/197/CatID/3#.V1mK2v_2ZD_ I currently use TAD TD-4001 in my Klipschorns and TAD TD-4002 in my Jubilees, but at some point if I feel the need for more DIY and I start to experiment with compression drivers again and see some published curves, I would like to try one of the Radian 1.4 " compression drivers with the beryllium diaphragms. I believe there may be a few benefits with the 1.4 " vs. 2 " when you have the flexibility of a higher crossover point using 500 Hz or 600 Hz vs. 400 Hz in the Khorns. Although, they couldn't be used for a two-way design and needed to be three-way with a tweeter, one of my old non-TAD favorites was the JBL 2441 compression drivers with Alnico magnets and Aluminum diaphragms. I'm not sure what a "Titanium Nitride Coated Dome" actually means and noting the curve has limited information on how and what horn when determined, but Eighteen Sound shows a curve for the compression driver that seems to do a decent job of making it through the top octave. http://www.eighteensound.com/PRODUCTS456/Products123/ProdID/151/CatID/3#.V1mIj__2ZD9

  28. Before the forum conversion I had the original threads identified and bookmarked where Bob Crites was building a "test box" set up; and a parallel thread where he first "coined" the term "CornScala" in reference to the test box (that ultimately morphed into the various CornScala products on his site). I haven't had a chance to "re-find" those threads since the old bookmark links no longer work.

  30. That looks like really nice furniture grade cabinetry, probably high quality components, all hand crafted. That has some value and I don't blame the manufacturer for wanting to make a living. There are people with that kind of disposable income who can and will pay top dollar for quality. This is America, nothing wrong with that.

  34. Chuck look at your local rental shop for a electric breaker. They are similar to the hammer drill but a little larger. They run off of 110 so no need for an air compressor. One might consider it an electric jack hammer. Or rent a 185 cfm air compressor and 100' of air hose along with a 90 lb breaker, that will get it down. https://www.zoro.com/bosch-breaker-hammer-1-18-in-hex-120v-15-amps-bh2760vcb/i/G3531385/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwhN-6BRCJsePgxru9iIwBEiQAI8rq86tI8o8TXY0q0Mg7oW8aWVuk9yb0pWNz-kfWMkDatdYaAszN8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

    1 point
  36. Well the adventure at LF's new place is the master bath floor. Apparently someone remodeled it and poured a slab around the vanity and tiled on top of that. I wanted to see if a hammer would break it so I hit it about ten times with a 20 oz hammer. It just snickered at me. So tomorrow a former tile guy is going to try his hand with a hammer drill. I'm not sure if that will be enough. Any ideas other than a jackhammer? Gave Jake a bath yesterday and this morning washed the porch where he hangs out. Mop, hot water, TSP, rinse. Hr doen't know what all the fuss is about LF off to the house to meet the A/V guys and move wires. Taking the control center out of LR and moving it to her office/TV room. No big screen in the LR Whole house wired for sound but will set up a 2 channel system at some point. Maybe Earl will loan me his Bose 901s

  37. One for you. One for her. And one for Stoney. Morning gang.... Hey OT Stoney doesn't like it when we put the music on. If he sees me turn the amps on him and his brother run down to the basement.... they want no parts of the Klipsch and Carvers lol lol.... Grandkids just got on the bus....... The BOSS and I are finishing our 2nd cup of DD..... coffee is a bit bitter this morning.... I think I ground the beans too long We just had a video chat with my daughter..... mom got out of bed and was able to walk to the potty... This is really a big deal.... She has been almost bed ridden since the UTI infection from weeks ago.... This has made our day I love the motor swap stuff...... Years ago back when Fast and Furious 1st came out I had bunches of kids wanting motor swaps in there Honda's... I took on several swaps. Most of the kids had no money..... and if the kids had the money and were under 18 I would make there parents come in to sing a waver.... hey I'm taking out a 95hp engine and dropping in twice the hp, yea you got to sing a waver! Some of the swaps I would not do.... like a H-22 Prelude engine in a CRX... yea it'll fit but the engine is really too big for the car... great for the drag strip but not for the street. There were some that would tell me my price was wayyyy to high for the swap.... My labor started at 5K + parts for a DOHC V-tech into a Civic/CRX... That would include me putting on a new timing belt H2O pump, clutch, lighten flywheel, fab shift linkage. and all wiring that looked factory... and before I dropped that power plant in I would wash the engine bay out... get it looking good. Some took there cars to other "cheaper" places..... then a few months they rolled up on my shop.... hey my cars not right can you help me??? I remember a few, I pop the hood or looked under the dash and it was a rats nest of wiring I would say to them "take it back to who did the swapp" and they would say " they want to charge me" I would just laugh.... like I'm gonna do it for free Well I don't do swapps any longer I just don't want the head ache....... OK gang I gotta roll.... wishing all a great day.... MKP :-)

  41. I still have a 4 barrel manifold off a '62 or '63. I also have a manifold for a 215 V8. Don't know why I kept them, since I have sold the engines I had long ago. Found a couple of 215's and a 300 in a salvage yard about 15 years ago and snatched them up since I was into MGB's and planned a couple of V8 conversions. Ended up selling a 215 to a guy to put in a Pantera, and the 300 went to a guy in the northeast that just wanted to crank timing gears and cover and heads to build a 215 stroker for a MGB. Wish I had kept the 300 since it was the only year they had aluminum heads. Still have a '86 Fiero in the back that is begging for a V8 conversion though.

Skip was in his late teens when tube amps and turntables and speakers started showing up at Mom and Pops place. From this I was turned into a music fanatic. Me not realizing for sometime..., what I was actually fanatic about is really good recordings and really good playback....Thank You My Brother... If I were writing a review it would be like this.... 45. Nice dynamics at loud volumes but also has nice dynamics at lower volumes, which is often times harder. I just took some really good acid and this song is making me hallucinate. Pretty colors and shapes, feels like I can touch the music. Oh wow, a woman just appeared. This acid rocks. I have no idea what I'm talking about right now so just bear with me. These speakers are damn smooth. Man I did really good buying this studio apartment. Did I just say that out loud? Focus! Gotta say something good that people can actually understand here before I wrap up, this line always works. Nice huh. Dude, what if this whole planet is just a molecule on a giant dog's butt hair?
