  1. I've just added a new forum theme (selectable at the bottom of the page) for people who love darker colors and/or HATE the super-bright default theme. Just scroll down to the bottom and click the "theme" link. Our themes are works-in-progress.

  3. Posting at the request of Jim Hunter:. NO AFFILIATION WITH SELLER JUST POSTING BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IT'S A GREAT DEAL FOR SOMEONE!!!!! For sale: KP-600 concert SYSTEM. This system has been in storage since 2012. There are 8 stacks of KP600s with tons of EP cabling, full flying rig, Cloud 9 covers, and all other associated gear. There’s also 12 KSM-15II monitors and 2 KP452 speakers. All items are in immaculate condition and many spare parts are included. This system will dwarf Kevin Harmon’s system that he has been bringing to the annual Pilgrimage! If interested, please contact Mike Dorsett, Dorsett Productions, 251-635-0066, email: mikedorsett@bellsouth.net All of the cabling, power distribution, cases, amps etc. are worth the $20,000 asking price. I've requested pics, but have it on good advice that this system is immaculate.

  4. I first heard Khorns in about 1988 or so. I was blown away, and I never forgot it. Couldn't afford a pair, but I was in my 20's and money was tight... Fast forward to today. I'll be 50 in a month and I recently found a pair about 3 miles from my house. The job situation has changed over the years and I can afford them now. The asking price was on the high side (I think), but it was a single owner, 1967 vintage, and I drove over and had a listen. To be honest, it wasn't really fair. They weren't pushed up against corners, they were driven by a less-than-stellar amp & choice of music, and they were all mids..... but the finish - it was *perfect*. These things had been seriously cared for cosmetically, just beautiful, and I just knew that there was life in them somewhere. The owner is now 75 and is deaf in one ear. His wife was there too. Both sweet people, but from hearing Khorns before I knew it wasn't right. They didn't seem to notice. The decay had happened slowly over the years, and I truly believe that they just accepted it as if nothing had changed. After listening to them and looking at them and working out a price, they're mine. The deal gets settled later this week with cash in hand. The guy needed to know they'd go to a good home - he was as adamant about that as he was the final price. I got home and called Bob C. I ordered new woofers, new tweeters, and a crossover repair kit. I've been doing electronic design professionally for 30 years and I knew I could do the repairs myself. So, here I am. Like an expectant father, I await the Khorns. The woofers & tweeters & crossover caps arrive on Thursday, and I go get the speakers on Friday. Thanks to Bob C. for talking to me on the phone on Sunday and analyzing what I told him and breaking it down to a set of restorations. I can't wait. I only have a tiny room to put them in for now, but it is a start. I always wanted a pair of Khorns, and I'm days from having them. I think I'm in the club now!

  5. Happy Tuesday guys. Just starting to check out the new format. Looks pretty good so far. Nice job. Fairly laid back day ahead, I think. Baxter looks like hell and he's going to the groomer in about 2 hours. I could probably use a good groomer myself. Great picture, Chuck. Other turntable pics are excellent, too. Would love to hear one of those units, Wardsweb. Take care everybody.

  10. Good evening everyone.............glad to be back and see most everyone back to posting once again! Interesting turntable there! Crazy concepts for sure Yes MKP, I saw the news this morning on that flooding! River went to 14' in 90 minutes they said, and the site of all those cars floating down that main street with some still holding onto the door handles was unbelievable !! Ok, just checking in......... Note: Driving to Rhode Island this Saturday for an M.A.D. (Music Appreciation Day) session at Pezz' home... Wish we could have more friends over to check out his modest yet very fine sounding audio setup! More later on.........enjoy your evening my friends.. ..........Gary

  13. You may or may not be aware of the new Notifications system of the forums. You have a great deal of control over how many notifications you get, and whether a notification is either via email, notification list, both or none. Tired of emails? Here's where you can control that! You can even get browser notifications if your web browser supports this. To access these settings, just click the little "bell" icon in the upper-right of the window, and then click "Notification Settings".

  14. Well, looks like I had one of those legendary Craigslist days we all hear about - saw an ad for three Klipsch speakers for $120 and they turned out to be Heresy HIP (Heresy Industrial Ported)! They will not win any beauty contests - 7-ply birch with an ugly after-market stain job and some white paint spatter, and each speaker has three large metal eyelets drilled into the cabinets to prevent theft. (Given I paid $40 per Heresy speaker that didn't work very well...) Serial numbers all start with "84" and then the serial numbers (e.g. 01292). Does that make them HIP I or HIP II? If HIP I, does anyone have specs? How can anyone complain about a lack of bass in Heresy speakers? I've tested all three HIP in my 2-channel rig (swapping out), and with speakers poorly placed (see pic) five feet from the wall the bass boom is pounding my head! Are these a different spec from the standard Heresy 1? I'm thinking of running the Heresy HIP as left & right mains plus center channel in my 5.1 home theater, using KG 3.5 for the rear surrounds or possibly KG 4.2. Hsu Research VTF-3 Mk IV sub. Do Heresy's play well with the KG series? If I get RF-7's at some point, would the HIP's as rear surrounds and center still mate well? Thanks for the thoughts, thanks for letting me gush. I'm a happy camper!

  22. I actually thought about bidding on those Heresies as well as they were an hour and a half away. Pairing them them with a couple subs instantly takes care of any bass disadvantage. Not sure why so many people let their speakers become plant stands...

  23. But.... the custom plinth at first glance just isn't as stunningly beautiful as yours. Maybe it is and with my dark glasses, dirty computer screen at bad angle and well felt like crap all day. lol.

  25. Maplenoll air bearing table. A small compressor supplies 60psi to the tone arm and platter. The plinth is already custom in a combination of wood, aluminum, lead and Corian. The whole thing weighs in at 85 pounds.

  26. New Forum Software. Luther adds another turntable to his museum of beautiful and exotic turntables. Not sure I've seen this one before. Details please. And are you building an even cooler plinth for it?

  30. Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I'm usually posting and lurking over on PE TT. I saw an ad on CL for a pair of Epic CF3s, I had never heard of them before, so after doing some research , I went and picked them up, they were a little rough, need to be refinished, but the drivers are spotless, and after listening to them for a few minutes, I was very willing to give the guy $400 for them. I'm not sure if they are series two or three, gotta find my inspection mirror to check the wiring, the SN has faded to the point that it is no longer legible. Either way, they do sound nice. Tomorrow I'll get them hooked up to my system, can hardly wait. Kent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. Do yourself a favor and watch Jeff Beck's Rock n' Roll Party. His playing is phenomenal and diverse as he plays tribute to Les Paul (and others). You won't be disappointed. Also - If you skim through his catalog, the diversity of his style and playing will simply blow your mind. If you are a musician, perhaps you will appreciate him even more. FYI - He does not use a plectrum. That is to say, a guitar pick. Impressive in itself. I could go on and on about him but if you are exposed to small sample of his playing, you might not "get it".

  34. Yes. On normal forum areas (not Q&A areas like this one) you can create polls and optionally make them anonymous. I believe it does limit the number of votes one could cast.

  35. I propose that we all wait exactly 14 days before we make any decisions about what we think of this platform. Really use it. Put it to the test. Go through every last nook and cranny. Really spend time getting to know it. Have you ever upgraded to a new operating system that was extremely different from the previous that you hated at first but then you grew to totally love it?

  36. You shouldn't. That's why I enabled the "edit silently" option. (You still have the option to give a reason though -- sometimes that helps moderators) -- the reason was always optional, just so you know. I invite you to check out the "Activity" tab at the top of the page. There you will find "Activity feeds" and you can even create your own custom activity feeds based on your own preference. It's a pretty nice feature. I do hope you give the "facelift" more of a chance than just a few hours. Great!

  37. Give it a chance. Also, they have already explained that we will have performance problems until the indexing is done: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/announcement/5-forum-site-performance/ Edit: Look at the right side of the page: https://community.klipsch.com/ I think you guys are being way too quick to judge this platform. Give it some time. Don't leave this community just because the platform is different. You guys make this community as good as it is.

  40. Yep - that's my Exodus preamp top plate. You can customize the front plate with coordinating graphics too - maybe the Discipline or Lark's Tongue graphics on the front plate! Like Matt says - it's whatever you'd like. TS Matt is a lot of fun to work with and is very accommodating! Lots of different wood and metal options to make it your "last amplifier purchase". Check 'em out!

  42. so i spray painted the baffles and plinths where the duratex won't roll on quite so well. and of course the recess for drivers where it won't roll on at all. then 2 coats of duratex for plinths and baffles.
