  1. In my prosecutor days in Battle Creek, a woman was charged with possession of marijuana. With the benefit of a search warrant, a cavity search located the contraband in one of the Donald's referenced locations. While reviewing the warrant request, I wondered out loud, "What's a joint like this doing in a girl like you?"

  2. Good early morning my friends....... Chuck, I was sad to learn of Baxter's passing, as I was watching your posts concerning him. For me, loosing a pet can be just as painful as family loss! May Baxter........RIP... News from here........We have returned from our 4 day family visit to Barrie, Ontario. It was a great time, and part of the visit was exchanging paid for, high res audio with Chris' brother... I brought my classical library which he needed to build his collection, and he kindly gave me many recordings of popular, rock and jazz which I did not have... The trip home through the boarder was very easy, even with a few days expired passport Road work this week, the Christmas concert season is here, organ tunings in full swing........ Can't wait to get back to Music Hall this weekend to relax and listen to music with the forum members .............a stop at Dunkin Donuts for coffee on the way out to the job venus Enjoy your day everyone. ..........Gary

  3. Chuck, it may sound cliche', but I feel your pain. I know how difficult it is to lose a friend like that. Best wishes.

  4. I guess there's no "dislike" button to push here. Sorry to hear that Luther. I can't help but think that a person with your obvious talents will land on their feet. When one door closes another one opens.

  5. Not very much tobacco, comparatively. Kentucky was known for coal, tobacco, fast women and good looking horses. Everything has changed: No more jobs in coal; no more tobacco being sold and now the horses are fast and the women are good looking. The climate, rainfall and terrain are ideal for growing the good stuff...so I've heard.

  8. If we're at a point where we can step back and look at the lay of the land...here's what I currently see from my knothole: Basically all of the ongoing multiple entry horn (MEH) DIY work is on smaller horns that lose their pattern control around 500 Hz, e.g., http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/285030-bookshelf-multi-way-point-source-horn.html http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/291160-my-synergy-corner-horn-bass-bins.html, and http://www.hificircuit.com/community/threads/index-of-diy-synergy-and-unity-horns.23/. Additionally, these efforts haven't discovered the benefits of using 2" output compression drivers: they all still use 1" drivers. Some are still trying to wedge in midrange drivers like DSL Synergies that are meant for outdoor stadium use (i.e., extremely high SPL that requires separate midrange drivers). But these are not the best choices that they can make. There are remaining problems using direct-radiating woofers--and most are vented bass reflex designs (having their own issues sonically integrating with those smaller MEH horns). Most of those small horn designs are completely ignoring those issues. And the "small loudspeaker crowd" generally wants to believe that smaller loudspeakers are "just as good" and "a better fit for their rooms". In reality, however, the K-402-MEH performs better than any smaller loudspeaker array in very small rooms. Just like Roy mentioned elsewhere--small rooms actually require large mouth horns to keep the early reflections off the nearfield walls. The sonic benefits of using a single horn full-range K-402-MEH in a cabinet that's about the size of a La Scala II are noteworthy. They don't require a separate woofer or horn-loaded bass bin, and their bass extension is that of a Jubilee bass bin--and arguably cleaner than the Jub bass bin. And those same K-402-MEHs can fill very large home theater rooms without breaking a sweat... Chris

  14. Sorry to hear that. We had something similar happen at our business. It is bad timing. Being forewarned is one that they did here too so that people didn't run up too much debt for Christmas then be told the news on January 1. Hope that you turn it into an opportunity and make it better than it was.

  15. Thank you guys for all the kind and comforting posts about our Baxter boy. We (Better Half Unit and I) are grateful for the support and friendship. We'll never forget him but we will get through this. Hang tough my friend. Luther ... I agree with Carl. You will most likely land on your feet and soon. I spent many years in corporate America and consistently observed 'displaced' execs finding new and better positions. Gonna do some jammin' today. Cheers to all.

  16. Best of luck! We recently had similar experience. For months we were told of a forthcoming re-organization and as a 'leader' we were to support any decision as our own; we were to "own it" not play evil company. The hard part was that while we were to have face to face discussions with the affected employees, we too might be re-classified, re-leveled or terminated so we would have to put on a happy face while not knowing our own fate. Turned out I got a new title and code but the pay didn't change.

  20. Out of the blue. I spoke with the local GM and the regional VP and they only found out 5 days ago. It was a mandate from the company President. One day at a time now. I've already started reaching out to my network of friends in several industries. Time will tell.

  21. Sorry to hear. Although never a good time the Holidays are never the best timing for this news. Even worse when it is a straight blindside. Was there no scuttlebutt this was on the horizon? Best luck ---

  22. A small improvement to my turntable Ortofon 2M Red I was trying to get Shure m97xE, but here it is too much trouble to get it. I should wait three weeks for local dealership to get it from Netherlands. And I want to make shure it is original cart, not some fake. It was also more expensive than 2M Red. Anyway, I am pleased with improvement in comparison to original Philips GP400. Compliance, weight and dimensions between Ortofon and Philips carts are very similar, so I thought why not give it a try. And a I am glad I did.

  24. After sending him a text, he sent me several photos he took of the build. We originally were going to use thin pavers on the lanai since it had a foundation and thick for the yard but everyone I spoke with suggested using all thin if I wanted the color to be consistent throughout the entire living area (which we did). Before we left for our trip, he asked if he had left over pavers if I wanted him to extend it on the back side of the theater room so we could store fire wood. I told him that was a great idea and love how he added the round curves to it instead of just making it a rectangle (see photo below) This Saturday, he is coming back to seal the pavers and also to clean, sand and seal our front driveway. Once the stones for the sitting wall come in, he will come install it. Photos don't really show the scale of what we see in person....it really looks massive! We couldn't be more pleased with how well this is turning out.

  31. Had lunch now, so I'm okay Tomorrow you can tell us about the b&g with a side of thick sliced smoked bacon, 3 over easy eggs, home fries with sauted onions, whole grain buttered toast smothered with banana pepper jelly preserve, slices of garden fresh tomato.....and a diet something to drink.

  32. I'm sorry Chuck I'll tell Jake later. Most of us have been through this though there is little consolation in company. I buried my last two labs, Ginger and Kate, in the side yard and my Irish Setter, Kelly, many years earlier. It's very difficult to lose a part of the pack. Hang in there my friend!

  33. The RSW-15 is back in business. Parts arrived today Tuesday (NC) not bad for FedEx ground from AZ that shipped on Friday. Just got the sub put back together - works like it used to. Kudos to Edwards Electronics, turn around time was in line with expectations -around 3 weeks door to door. Could not tell what component was replaced - but it works great. If your sub goes bye-bye I would recommend checking them out.

  35. I think people will understand. Many of us have had seller's remorse. You might consider going to Post #1 so you can edit your headline to reflect "on hold." That way people won't have to read to your second post to find the item is not currently for sale. Good luck, whichever way you go.

  36. Kind of got kicked in the head yesterday. Our company president called to let me know they are going to a national purchasing model and my department will no longer exist. Bottom line is I will no longer have a job come January 1. Well a Merry Christmas and a Ho Ho Ho to you. Time to refresh the resume and start looking.

  40. Are they still growing alot of tobacco in Ky ? That industry should get behind making it legal, they could just switch the weed they grow. It would be more labor to grow but MUCH higher profits.
