  1. Talking Gin huh? Was in a barber shop 20 years ago reading a Playboy where the discussion was Martinis. The Martini du jour was Bombay, stirred with vermouth, served at 38 degrees, with a twist of lemon. Had to try it....did...went back to Vodka. Prednisone and cough syrup kicking in. Feeling 82%. Mark should be getting his goobers very soon. Eat the ghost pepper chocolate nuts with caution. Planning a small party at a wing place for the presidential inauguration Friday. Mostly my high school breakfast club gang. Anyone in the neighborhood please stop by.

  2. Add some psyllium husk to that and you got a very healthy smoothie. I have one every morning.

  3. Ordered a bunch of "super foods" from Amazon. Making smoothies to see if I gain energy this year. Used Gogi berries, macca root extract, Acai, almond milk and a banana. Wonder if I should add dark rum? Suns trying to make an appearance. LF out of town for a week. May have to go get the bubble out of her garage for a bit. Hair cut tomorrow My barber's name is Marvin but he has always been called Buzz. Buzz's Barber Shop

  4. Glad you're starting to feel better. Is the ham bone for you or your dog? I went to another doctor today, she agreed with my niece, go see a cardiologist and have an "event monitor" hooked up. I think it's a little sad that I have more confidence in a 36 year old nurse than most of the doctors I've seen. She does have a masters degree and just added a business degree. Smart girl.

  5. I want to share an experience I had recently. I went to Best Buy and went into their magnolia room. They had Macintosh equipment which is way out of my budget right now but I wanted to hear it up close and personal. First I tried out the 2 channel stereo for music which was really nice and clean( B & W speakers suck, they had other speaker on floor though and they used those) then I tried out the theater room. Also powered by Macintosh. Sounded very clean but lacked something. I couldn't pinpoint it, maybe the speakers just weren't up to par(speakers were behind screen). After having this experience I was able to compare what I heard there, to what I have at home. At home I have the klipsch RP 280 system with ks 525 thx as main surrounds. Powered by a Yamaha RX A1050, Adcom amp to power surrounds and bi-amped front left and right at 180wpc bi wired with canare speaker cable. First of all I listen to music in pure direct without a sub. Just 2 channels. I honestly couldn't hear much of a difference and maybe go as far as to say that my system is more pleasing. In the theater($250k worth)I was also not very impressed. I also think mine almost sounds better(Atmos dsp setting)If I learned anything, it's that the speakers make all the difference. Gotta love my klipsch and Yamaha quality. 8. Thanks. We did have some winter lightening last week, kind of rare around here. It's ironic you mentioned residual affects the other day. This doc asked if I ever had a concussion. I said about four of them. He then asked if I passed out in any of them, I said yes, two of them. I forgot what he called it but it can affect you much later in life. He then said they're learning a lot about concussions and brain injuries.

  15. Don't worry about it, we will just consider it a birthmark, but you know everyone will have to look at it. I think I got rid of the last one I had by either right or left clicking and the deleting it, or it was just luck it went away ?

  16. That's true, but it was really good. when Carl asked me if I wanted to try one while we were in hope I explained to him my only martini experiences, chocolate. He then knew I had never really tried a martini and went to work, I was quite shocked at the taste. Watching this you think OK if you only mix alcohol and shake it up it has got to be strong, as far as taste, it's taste like water with a slight flavor, but as far as strength it's what you watched go in it, they could be dangerous. But I do like the thousands of tiny ice pieces, they lasted to the last drop, it's really is a good drink.

  17. That's why my brain is headed to the Boston University CTE study. When I'm done with it, I hope they find it useful to study CTE. God knows nobody would want it as a transplant.

  21. Yep I get that alot, once I even had to type in Klipsch and go with that link. I thought it was maby my bookmarked link but no after a few tries it worked. I have no idea, it's above my pay grade, which fortunately covers everything, i'm barely expected to pay attention, hardly even do that.

  22. Neil, did that tendon transfer surgery go well? Micro surgery has come a long way, especially with the help of robotics. Honda is an innovator in this type of robotic surgery.

  24. To shift gears, it amazes me to read about such things as hand transplants. Imagine the positive life changing benefits of such transplants. But, I can't help to wonder why they can successfully, sort of, connect nerves today, but they could do nothing for my severed peroneal nerve in 1976. I can testify to the stupidity of water skiing under the influence. Total right knee peroneal nerve palsy caused 100% foot drop. Nerve reattachment, or regeneration, were beyond the state of the art in 1976. Without, then groundbreaking, posterior tibial tendon transfer surgery in 1982, I would not have been able to walk without using a brace like those used by stroke patients.

  41. Morning gang 35 and as usual, feels like it. Yet another "River from the sky" due in wend thru next week. Finely got the heater rebuilt and installed/working in the Rv. Upon enjoying the heat, i discover a 55Amp 12Volt Converter as part of the breaker panel, and of course it's fried. Got it on the bench, filthy/dust/dirt/cooked bugs. $118 on the Bay for a new unit, but im going to check this critter over, board level componets are right up my ally. Well i shopped for a newer fixer, i got one. will not complain, just Bi otch a lot.

  43. Pretty much caught up now. Loved the shots of Lake Mich. I took my one and only trip there as a kid in my early teens. Stayed at Crystal Lake which is close to Lake Mich. Beautiful country. Colorado is gorgeous, but in a different way. Spent yesterday goofing off and watching football. Also saw Mark Wahlberg's 'Deepwater' movie last night. Highly recommended, especially on HT. Good day for this retiree to stay put ... maybe 5 inches of snow so far and it's still coming down. Won't really relax until Better Half Unit is home from work. Cheers guys.

  44. ^^^^^ A chocolate martini is not a martini, would qualify as flavored drink only. Similar to a Starbucks double mocha, frape', caramel, whipped creme hazel nut vanilla latte with almond milk over shaved ice with a sprinkle of chocolate cinnamon nutmeg served in a 16 oz. paper cup ain't no f'in cup-o-coffee. Now I Could tell you about the office party where I had my last martini's, double most of them but no need to embarrass myself - again, first time was plenty.
