  1. "Michigan Madman," E. J. Potter's ride to be auctioned. Only two days to place a bid on a bit of history. https://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2017/01/24/the-worlds-fastest-motorcycle-e-j-potters-1971-widowmaker-7-heads-to-auction-in-las-vegas/?refer=news During my misspent youth, I frequented U.S. 131 Dragway in Martin, MI and saw E. J. Potter several times. In addition to the Chevy V8 motorcycles, I recall his dragsters with Allison aircraft engines. I especially like the Craftsman wrench used as part of the machine.

  5. i sure hope so. I did the stress test once and afterwards started feeling really bad...asked the doc if i could lay down. She asked me if i had eaten anything--i said an apple this morning (it was now about 5:30 pm). She had the nurse get some some OJ and i recovered quickly. Doc was a bit pissed because she had a dinner appointment and said that she couldn’t let me go until i was back to normal. For me, it was just doing the treadmill test without any food in my system.

  6. You've perhaps forgotten that I ran a stock Belle, a tri-amped Belle, and tri-amped JuBelle between two Jubs for a few years. I'm going to have to agree to disagree on this point. It's not close, Belles and La Scalas aren't in the same league (even with horn-loaded subs)...and especially running passive crossovers without alignment: the Jubs win hands down, no contest. They aren't like Heritage. They're the identified replacement for the Khorn, and they were renamed "Jubilees" because PWK felt that the upgrade in sound was a lot more than just a "Khorn II". ...and with apologies to the OP on his seller's thread. 7. I'm sorry to hear that, it can be managed though. I was on my stress/echo test today. It went well until the end. My blood pressure dropped from 180/80 down to 78/60, my pulse stayed elevated, then I got super dizzy and passed out. Fortunately the nurse knew what to do and gave me 3 glasses of OJ and some crackers. About 5 minutes later I started to feel better, 15 minutes later I was ok to leave. I guess I'll be looking at glucose levels now. They were impressed that I could almost quadruple my resting heart rate though. I don't know the results yet, but I think my heart is fine.

  10. Boy some people will do anything for some OJ and crackers, or just some attention from a nurse. Just kidding, hope they get it figured out for you, as far as BigStewMan, not sure if there is a medicine that could fix him, he tends to get run over by trucks and on a steady diet of ketchup and del tacos, he must be pretty tough to live through all of that.

  11. That's sounds familiar. My appointment was at 8:30 am, but a scheduling error had me wait till 10am, and I didn't eat anything before, per their request.

  13. Just joined the Klipsch F.U.G. forum at the recommendation of some one on the Audiokarma forum. My wife and I recently purchased a Mid Century Modern home circa 1967. Architecturally the home was ahead of it's time, with a big open floor plan, electric drapes, remote lighting controls, and a media room stereo speakers in every room. We would have never been able to afford a home like this built new, but because the neighborhood schools are not the best, the price was right. Sadly though the floor plan did not provide any good locations to position my Klipsch Cornwalls I had owned for 30 years . So I sold them for more than I paid for and started a fund to up grade the homes audio system. In the home's custom built solid oak media center survived a visually pristine Dual 109 turn table and a Sony 250 reel to reel player. My original plan was to just keep the turn table and reel to reel and replace everything else with modern electronics starting with the speakers. At one time I had dreamed of buying a tube amp to power my Cornwalls, but priorities change. The first speakers on the list for replacing were the wall mounted speakers in the media center. Pulling off the grills I was surprised to discover a pair of coaxial 15" EV Wolverine LT- 15 speakers. I learned how to adjust the "Brightness" knobs and the speakers started to come alive. With a little work on the surrounds and powered by a good amp they should sound great. After the pleasant surprise discovering the Wolverines I decided to find out what was behind the grills in the 6 other room's 12 ceiling stereo speakers. What I found was both good and bad. The good was instead of finding a simple 6" speaker screwed to a hole in the ceiling I found 12 "small" acoustic suspension Frazier speakers. The "small" speakers measure 12' X 12' X 16', have a 6.5" Frazier woofer, a Frazier horn tweeter, and are constructed of 3/4" high grade plywood (see photos). Very heavy and painted black. The bad, the woofer surrounds were literarily gone, and the cones crumbled to the touch. Even worse the woofer is installed from the back and the cabinets must have been installed in the ceiling before the plaster board, so the hole in the ceiling is smaller than the speaker making easy removal impossible without cutting the cabinet. Now my request for technical help. I had been searching the web for a potential woofer replacement and had come out empty handed. My searches centered on home stereo woofer replacements and found only high power (100 watt) replacements for modern speakers. Turns out however there is a market out there for low power, high efficiency replacement speakers for vintage portable guitar tube amps! Eminence Speakers manufactures a 20 watt 6.5" woofer with good specs that may be a perfect replacement . Plus it is made in the USA. Check out the Eminence 620H specs a : https://www.eminence.com/pdf/620H.pdfCan any of the F.U.G gurus take a look at the specs for the Eminence 620H and give me guidance if the 620H would make a good replacement for the Frazier woofer? The best I can determine the Frazier horn tweeter gets flat between 5K and 20K. The installed capacitor is 3.0 MFD 50 VDC. Thanks in advance for any help finding a replacement.

  16. Nothing I like to brag about but I am a Type 2 myself, diagnosed about 7 years ago, I'm 64 in a month. Nope, not heavy, got up to about 200 lbs. once and saw a picture of myself at my daughters graduation and that was it. Been a steady 180 since and of late holding a good steady 170-175. I think 175 , 6'1" is a good ratio. Father dies young so not sure if he was diabetic and if so no one was aware, mom was not. I felt perfectly fine, no health issue what so ever and actually diagnosed myself. I had begun to drink an enormous amount of water, couldn't get enough which was not like me at all. I knew this wasn't normal and after about a month or so of this I started investigating and remember reading something about excessive water drinking and diabetics, Bingo. It is what it is, daily meds, have a yearly physical, yearly complete eye exam and eat normally.

  19. My first thoughts after a couple of hours listening, the A55G's are more detailed in a way that separates sounds more distinctly. I think I'm hearing instruments and vocals in their entirety, not mixed together on their edges. The width and depth of the stereo image are both bigger. Something that is very noticeable in my room. Hope that makes sense. I'm not the most articulate person... Ask questions, maybe that will help me describe what I'm hearing. Mark

  22. Ok gentlemen, chill just a little. I spent some time assembling a custom speaker testing play list and am all the way through the one damn song. I'll report back as I make progress. Want to get used to the new sound then I'll switch drivers to the K55V dual phase plug and listen to the playlist again. Then I'll change one driver and switch back and forth using my monoblocks to select speakers. My equipment is in my profile. Using ALK steep slope Xovers, ES500 and ES5800 (I think those are the correct part numbers). The squawker horns are Fastlane La Scala. First impression is the A55's seem smoother and clearer at all volume levels. Mark

  24. When somethings breaks it a good time to decide if a new replacement is a better deal. I would vote for a new sub since the value on the old sub is not that much and even after a repair, there is no warranty.

Thanks I appreciate you sharing your impressions , I don't know if I'll ever get to hear a set of Jubilee's so having input from an experienced and valued forum member helps me figure out which direction I want to go. Jason you are very close to me, you should swing by for a listen some time. I'm about 5 mins from Seth's house

  30. @MetropolisLakeOutfittersThis guy needs a 450c and matching towers. Hook him up @willlandthe new production 280fa is no longer veneer. They are vinyl wrapped as well. They did that so they didn't have to make two different centers that were exactly the same. Plus also now that the 7iii/64iii is coming out they are reserving the veneer for flagship model. OP, get with cory above. He is an authorized dealer and will get you a nice bundle deal on a MATCHING setup

  33. Spectacular. Have always thought the LaScalas were amongst the most distinctive and beautiful speakers made by anyone. Sadly my wife thinks they are too "fat" (wide). These are the nicest of the lot.

  36. My comment on the Bass bins was a comparison of the different models, i have not strayed from my original comment at all. Some can get by without a subwoofer with any of these models, problem is once you hear a horn loaded sub with horn loaded speakers you end feeling like a big part of the program material and impact is missing without it.

  40. I have always enjoyed reading your comments, but this one has me wishing for a SPL number so I can relate to what "loud" enough at 2 watts is. If you have a smart phone or tablet, there are some free apps for SPL meters. There are also pocket size SPL meters available online for about twenty dollars. These may not be scientifically accurate, but are very handy for casual reference measurements.

  42. New to Klipsch and new to the forum, too. First pair of serious speakers were Altec Lansing Model 19s. After 20 years moved to B&O due to space requirements. Got the Heresy IIIs this past weekend and am head over heels about them.

  43. Its only overkill if adjusted improperly, the effortless bass adds nuances and feeling the mains just are not capable of producing. If you have not heard them before you will not miss it but once you do it will feel like something is missing.

  45. Original forte used an exponential similar (same?) to Heresy and CW. The forte II used a larger hybrid tractrix profile horn, which was also shared with the Chorus II and Quartet. It would be nice if the FIII had an even larger mid horn, one that would hold a pattern lower, and allow a lower woof-to-mid crossover frequency. The Fifteens are just killing me. Love the mid-century mod style. I want a pair, like right now.
