Good Tuesday morning. Now for some Cable talk. What a "duh" moment when my son laughed at me for using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter to plug Sennheiser headphones into my Pono player. I felt the fool when he spun the 1/4 plug off the end of the Sennheiser cable to reveal the 1/8 plug inside. Removing the extra pieces opened up the soundstage. The depth and dynamics were vastly improved. Stereo separation was never better. The electrons were now freed to flow unimpeded by the unnecessary adapters. NOT. But seriously, the sound was, of course, unchanged by the removal of the redundant pieces from the signal path. Nonetheless, I had to wonder if any of my fellow passengers on the 16 hour flights to and from China felt pity for the poor fool with adapter overload.4 points

True, and if they seasoned it well, I would try it. Well I sure couldn't put a cow, pig, chicken or any seafood for a avatar if that's the case ! Oranges are good, and juicy, while your waiting for the animal to cook.3 points
-
and you have an animal in your avatar. In some parts of the world, they’d throw that fella on the grill ... then what would you use for an avatar? Besides, the three oranges that i had for dinner were pretty juicy themselves.3 points

i have been enjoying Pandora streaming through a pair of Oppo players ( 93 and 103) in different rooms. My basement set up is a home theater with KHorns. The connection in the Wi Fi started dropping off. I connected an ethernet cable from the modem and was stunned by the improvement. I did the the same in my main floor family room, two channel, Chorus. Huge change. Net Flix now is true HD. Streaming rivals Blu Ray. If your WiFi drops off I would recommend a cable2 points

Pruning part two....all azaleas done. Tomorrow on to the boxwoods The new 60V hedge trimmer is light enough until you plug in the battery pack. Then after three days of pruning you feel it. Went to the beach for 3 hours with LF, who is from W. Virginia, where strangely enough they have no ocean She loves the beach though having been here for the duration I can take it or leave it. Today was special in that it is spring break and watching firm, college, buttocks gave me a whip lash A slushie in a while should help. Did I mention that during retirement you do not have to wait for cocktail hour? Yep its true.2 points

Hi, I am a Klipsch fan for over 30 years. I had bought my first t 5000's in 1990's. I also had the t theater center speaker. As I had bought audio video furniture the center speaker was too big to fit inside the enclosure. I had to buy the smaller center speaker from Klipsch called the R 25c. I was thinking that it is smaller and less dynamic than the bigger rear ported T Theater....I was wrong. This small speaker had mids and highs that were beautiful. I decided to sell my T5000s for the Klipsch rp 280f too match the dynamics in movies. As I turned on the system and listened at a flat response the highs and mids are dominate but not in a negative way. The Klipsch rp 280f are detailed maybe too much. The warmth from the t 5000's I am missing. I am writting this only 2 hours since I bought them. I know they must be broken in but anyone who has the T5000's think twice before you sell them. The workmanship is not even close to the rp 280f's but the t5000's have a roundness in the spectrum. My wife enjoys the new speakers so do I but the t5000's had that sense of fresh air which is hard to put in words. I will let the music play on my new 280f's for the next days. I know it must be broken in. My amp is a old school Soundcraftsmen ProPower Four which I love. I am thinking about upgrading to a AMC tube amp.2 points

I love what Audyssey does for my system. I use Audyssey Flat (not Audyssey Reference) with no DEQ, which I abhor, in a room treated with diffusion and absorption. I boost the bass about 6 dB or less, after calibration. In my room, Audyssey (Flat) 1) increases clarity and detail 2) doesn't affect dynamics (which are considerable) 3) removes peaks centered at 110 Hz, 160 Hz, 550 Hz, 8K Hz, and eliminates dips successfully at 350 Hz, and from about 12K Hz through about 16K Hz. Rob, have you tried Audyssey Flat, rather than Audyssey Reference? Audyssey now recommends a somewhat tighter mic pattern than it once did, particularly if you are optimizing one or two seats, rather than many. Audyssey pro may be less necessary now with XT32 and the new app, if it will work with your AVR/pre-pro.2 points

Back in the late 60s – early 70s you got to see all sorts of different types of music on the same bill. I once saw the Bonzo Dog Band open for The Who, another time I saw Mary Wells ("My Guy") open for Yes and yet another time a band led by Johnny Barbata (former drummer with The Turtles) opened for Buddy Rich. (Barbata even played a drum solo during his set — exceedingly brave of him considering who was following him on stage.) And festivals were a real free-for-all in billing. Once in Palm Springs I saw Canned Heat, Buddy Miles, Savoy Brown and The Ike and Tina Turner Review all on the same night. (Savoy Brown kicked *** over everyone else that night, although Ike and Tina gave them a run for their money.) The previous night featured Lee Michaels, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Procol Harum (when Robin Trower was still with them). The first time I saw Hendrix the opening bands were Eire Apparent, Soft Machine and Vanilla Fudge. The next time the openers were a new outfit called CTA (Chicago Transit Authority, later simply Chicago). As the saying goes, I may be old, but I got to see all the cool bands...2 points

Started a new bag of organic whole bean Honduran today, medium roast. The thing I have noticed with these Central American coffees, like Costa Rican, is that they really pack a caffeine kick. In other news, in case you haven't noticed, NHL playoffs start Wednesday, and not only that it is spring----time to make meat helmets.2 points
