Definitely hold out for the RC-7. It's in a different class altogether. The 25 is way too small and the 3 isn't near as good of a match to the RF-5's as the 7 is.4 points

No Buick discussion is complete without mentioning TV Tommy Ivo. If one Buick is good, four must be better. I saw Ivo's dragster in both its original iteration and its repurposing as the "Riviera Wagonmaster." Lots of smoke.3 points

You know Davis, the motor in my avatar was a 215/3.5L Buick aluminum V-8.3 points

This is my slowest Buick but my favorite. A highly optioned California car I have owned for 15 years. 1965 Riviera Gran Sport. 425ci, 2x4bbl 1 of 3354, not ultra rare but I don't see Gran Sport Rivs come up for sale often. It is mostly all original except for new paint.3 points

Here is the latest on the upstairs Theater. Trying to get everything finalized and set up sort of as a dry run before we paint the room. I have the LaScalas as mains and for right now a KG5.2 as a center, (until I can get or make a split LaScala) R-12SW sub, and RB-61II surrounds. Here is the question, looking at the room set up would rear surrounds be any benefit and if so what suggestions would you make as where to put them and what to use. The room is 14W X 17L with the pan ceiling.2 points

Apparently he decided after numerous emails that he was too low on price or actually researched and saw what others were "listed" for.2 points

I do remember the old days at the track, including that 1/4 mile wheel stander, it was a little wild back then. Back then they did not care, we would bring in a ice chest full of beer and sit in the stands all day. One of our first few dates were at the track in Laplace LA.2 points

I remember an interview with TV Tommy saying he could not see driving the 4 engine/4 wheel drive dragster because of all the tire smoke. There are some great shots in that vid. Thank you. He sure makes a Buick man proud. You have to love the luggage rack on top of the Riv Wagon dragster.2 points

The bath room remodel was such a success, the lady now has me redoing her mother's living room. She, too, wants the wainscot on the ceiling. Then a nice coat of paint on the walls. That is, after I remove the wallpaper. Time for some coffee and get ready for my day.2 points

For the most part, as others will correct me where I'm wrong, Class D amps are good for power but not as much for fidelity. Class A/B amps will provide a better overall sound quality from my interpretation. In other words, a sub amp will be relatively good with a Class D as you don't need quite as much precision as the upper frequencies yet need the horsepower to drive the low range. The low Hz are only slightly more forgiving to where a Class D would be suitable. When looking at a multi-channel receiver I would consider an A/B over a D. I would go listen to a Marantz and some others, compare it to the SC-99, and if you find yourself benchmarking every other receiver against the SC-99 you may have found your AVR. Good hunting...2 points

Absolutely, TV Tommy is the coolest man ever! also the nicest. I would love to talk to him. I have that diecast in my show cabinet. Tommy hurt his back in that car and Norm Day substitute drove the rest of the season. He then took the car back to Middleton, IN and stored it for years in his gas station. I knew Norms name as he owned the speed shop. The Holy Grail of Buicks was 15 miles from my house and I never knew it.2 points

"Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?" Anyone remember that jingle?2 points

torque is Buick's specialty. The 510 lbs ft 1970 455 and every engine they make. Of course the engineers got a bit strange when they put the torque on the air cleaner lid instead of cubes like every other manufacture. Messes people up to this day.2 points

A local guy was building a 2/3 scale P-38 powered by twin 215s. Sadly, I think he died before it was completed.2 points

the 215 also raced at Indy in 1962 built by Mickey Thompson, with this rookie named Dan Gurney at the wheel. Olds had their own 215.2 points

Reflections: absorbers, diffusers, book shelves with open ends with diffusing pottery and absorbing books, area rugs, thick velour curtains, etc. Standing waves: (tuned) bass traps, after a room mode analysis. Audyssey may help some with both. Don't give Audyssey too much work to do; treat the room first.1 point

The Flyin Hawaiian, enjoyed watching him. I collect race and restore 1960's Buicks Gran Sports and Turbo Regal/Grand Nationals so that Indy program and the Brayton's are very dear me. That lil 231 V6 has seen a lot of variants, been carbureted, fuel injected, turboed, supercharged and raced at Indy. It scared the NHRA when Buddy Ingersoll showed up in Pro Stock in a Turbo Regal.1 point

I was always pulling for those Buick V-6s at Indy. Lots of power and drama, but not enough longevity. Attended the race the year Danny Ongais drove the recently departed Scott Brayton's pole winning car from last to seventh. Not too bad for a drag racer.1 point

Very sad news in my house. My wife and I have been fans since 1973. My daughter is too, since she was born in 1986. My second favorite band after the Beatles. Best live rock and roll band ever.1 point
