  1. Morning all. Yea BSM sorry to hear about your friend. That's some tuff chitt. I lost a friend some years back to cancer. He was only 33. He was one of those good guys... man he would do anything for ya. Testicular cancer... He one removed and was doing good for about a year then it cam back. We ran into him one night and he was a shell of a man. After we spoke and that last hug I knew that was the last time I would ever see him. I have a pic of him hanging in the shop.... and when I'm having a chitt day and I"m thinking how "bad" I got it...... I'll look at that pic, and then it slaps me in my face that I'm OK and I'm lucky to be having a "chitt" day! Yes was a good day in China Town. Weather was great. Really starting to heat up.... put the window A/C's in last night. Gonna be in the 90's today... OK grandson on the bus..... gonna roll out and get it done.... a good day to all. Will post pics of the EV's... really great shape, and the guy gave me a bunch of cables and poles to mount my other EV's to the subs. Might give em a work out this weekend on the deck and I'll be breaking out the Tiki's and the Tiki statues that @oldtimer likes so much... MKP :-)

  4. Made another round of Farewell visits tonight. dinner with some friends from Church...some that i’ve known for over 20 years. At the house of my former golfing buddy--sadly, this feels like the last time that i will see him. He used to be a powerful longshoreman. Shaking his hand was like putting your hand in a vice. 6’5” and strong. Now cancer has ravaged his body and he’s just a shell of himself. He got winded just standing up to take a picture. Cancer started about 7 years ago in his prostrate. Spread to his spine, then colon; Monday they just found out that it’s in his lung. As I gave him a hug goodbye, i told him to get better and come visit me--he said, “i think getting better is out of the question." A very fun evening with a heartbreaking goodbye.

  6. Ha! It's been a LONG time - in the last six weeks - separate trips to Atlanta, Michigan and Texas. I'm tired - and have a lot of miles. One day - I'm coming to Hope! But for now - I'm drinking coffee and listening to Frank Sinatra. That's random - but it's fitting the bill today!

  14. when my heart started tripping out, docs said caffeine can do it. So, i don’t drink any caffeinated beverages anymore. But, i did grow up on sun tea (unsweetened).

  15. Sun tea is the best! Grew up in North Dakota and we did that all summer - it was my favorite.

  16. I had it idling on the ramp for a while but the stew and I had a little get together planned so it came back home sans U. Tea; I do half and half iced tea. Georgia puts way too much sugar in and now I lean to the unsweet side of middle. Sun tea anyone?

  17. Must be a southern Texas thing. Up in the north central it comes unsweetened, like god and nature intended.

  19. Looks great Luther, it looks like you have spent to much time in the plant, professionally done. That is some wild looking veneer, it looks 3D in the picture, they will be one of a kind.

  21. Klipsch Heresy III in walnut like new condition (less than 2 years old). Local pickup only. Speakers, Original Boxes, Manual http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649349713-klipsch-heresy-iii-walnut-mint/ No affiliation. Price recently dropped from $800 to $700. Seem like a great deal.

  22. Figured i would show off the La Scala risers. They have a slight angle built in as well so the horns were not aimed at my belly, stained to match the Birch mains. Still have to veneer the subwoofer but as far as sound goes its done and i could not be happier with the outcome. Pardon the dust and uneven lighting.

  27. That is a valid concern about the veneer! I'd put my equipment on a side wall and away from the speaker if I could. I get a better sound stage without any equipment in the middle. Can't always do that however.

  29. so after all that I decided to go with the RP280/450C set up. I think getting them black was the right choice too. I was buying so much other gear I needed to shave off a few bucks where I could. thinking down the road I could get the RF7III's. if I wanted. Have to say I am very satisfied with these speakers. Not really the Klipsch sound I am accustomed too- but they definitely rock for Movies & music. The RS62II's work great with them and the 5800's in the ceiling. Paired them with a Yamaha A3060 and and external amp for 7.1.4. Atmos sound awesome. finally got the JVC projector and Stewart screen up. so far so good. looking forward to some movie watching now.

  34. By the way...I have found over the years that one of the BEST room treatments for annoying reflections are bookcases FULL OF BOOKS...or even multi-media storage units full of DVDs, Bluerays, CDs, etc....depending on where they are placed or SHOULD be placed. They also tend to add SOUNDPROOFING to the room (with all those dense sound-absorbing books in them!) Plus, nice bookcases full of nice books (my preference is leather bindings with gilt spine markings!) tend to add a "touch of class" to the listening environment, IMHO! Wide open unused shelves in bookcases will sometimes often compound reflection issues, though!

  35. Not trying to take anything at all away from Roy in Jubilee development, since PWK himself and Roy were the KEY PLAYERS....BUT, there was somebody ELSE who did quite a lot of the "grunt work" on the Jubilee bass bin, in all of its prototypes/changes/rebuilds/etc. He also laid up a number of variants of the fiberglass high/mid horns as changes occurred in its initial development. He worked "hand-in-hand" with Roy and PWK throughout the development of the Jubilee speaker (as did others). Unfortunately for Mike, he had refused to move to Indianapolis when corporate told him he would have to do so, and was eventually "let go" from his position in the Hope R&D department not very long after the Jubilee development under PWK's guidance was completed and PWK himself passed away. His first name is "Mike", and we have been buddies since we were in high school at Prescott together. A couple of years after Klipsch let him go, he built a few pairs of Jubilees for people who were wanting them, but could not buy them through Klipsch at the time. Please keep in mind that Klipsch R&D has always had a number of employees...some are engineers, while some are worker bees, and the work load is shared within the department...to include the "grunt work". The Jubilee bass bin prototypes went through a number of revisions, and almost all of those revisions required a COMPLETELY new rebuild of the bass bin in order to incorporate those revisions, so that it could be tested and either meet the design parameters or require more revisions in order to get to that point. That is the nature of things in the R&D realm. Mike and I would sit and talk about the changes every time I visited him...so I was constantly hearing about the "what and why" of the Jubilee bass bin development. Because both Mike and I shared a mutual admirable respect for PWK, and each other...we tended to key on his R&D work in our conversations whenever we visited each other. Some of his most prized possessions are two framed photos he has...one with PWK, Roy and himself in front of the finally-completed Jubilee, and another of PWK and himself shaking hands in front of the completed Jubilee.

  42. As far as Italian goodies are concerned, we are spoiled here in NYC. For a short while I lived a few blocks away from Cammareri bakery in Brooklyn, the one from the movie Moonstruck, one of the smallest stores I have ever been in. Lines out the door, especially for Easter with the ricotta pies, etc. Esposito pork store over on Court Street, that place was awesome. I put 10 lbs on in a year living in that neighborhood. Now Mario Batali has opened an "Eataly" in the new World Trade Center a short walk from my apartment. Very pricy but everything is "Top Notch". They have a mozzerrella "bar" with fresh burrata, oh man....

  47. I like this response, I'm really considering the 115SW but it is a little pricey (1,400$ CAD on the klipsch site) and is not available on Best Buy(.ca) so I have to buy online only. Seen it on eBay or amazon for about 900$ open box or refurbished by manufacturer. I'm a bit of a bass head especially when it comes to deep lows as well. Does klipsch usually offer specials on these higher-end products?

  48. Hey @Lost240 it just so happens that after all the upgrading I've done I am selling my 2 that are in pretty much mint condition. They are the ones with the braided finish I posted pictures when I got them. I'll take some pics right now but I am actually located in CT as well. I believe we have spoken before.
