  1. Nice copy of that lp @rplace. I've got one Quiex II lp but it's not as good of a record as "Physical Graffiti" is.

  2. Good morning all, trying to shake off lingering cold and too much holiday weekend shanigans. Gotta get the blood moving with coffee and Zeppelin. Is it even too early for Zeppelin?

  3. Thanks all who made me come to my senses! Seriously... Went smooth as silk. Handed the young guy the money to count when I first walked in because staring me in the face were the LaScalas. Had brought a small dolly which came into it nicely. Loaded up in my Volvo V70 easily with room to spare. At first glance, they were smaller than what I had remembered in person. Looked intact and fairly decent. Grills and badges too. Do not know what the crossover is cause it was just a matter of loading them as they were mine. Labels on the back there and will be looking at them soon. After that, guys helped me load all the manuals and cables, and the 4 H/K components. AVR , 5 disc player, cassette player and an EQ. No room for the entertainment stand which was decent dark wood. Asked them to sell it. After a short BS with them about playing them in their home there in a tight neighborhood once, told me about playing them outside before and reiterated the loud part. There may have been another piece of electronics that had been sold already but, may have misunderstood, and to be honest, I was and am just a happy camper here. Resting and letting the speakers rest in car. Whirlwind day and just like a dream with my name on it, this time. Score! lol Maybe there around 20 minutes tops!Dazed and confused! Thanks again guys!

  5. You're right, I had the pleasure in Arkansas many times in Rodney's clubhouse I was impressed every time, a really good overall speaker. With a little volume it's surprising how much bass they have. We cranked them up many times in that big metal building with all the doors open, I think the cows in the field across the driveway liked them also, they would all come stand by the fence. Who knew cows liked reggae ?

  6. I bought most, not all of those 200g LedDep LPs as they came out. Glad I did as I could not afford to buy them at today's prices. I wish I had bought 10 of each as my retirement plan. They do sound really nice. What-ch got on your end?

  9. Finally getting some work done. Here's a dry fit of the top on one bass bin. I think they'll turn out pretty darn good.

  10. @rplace It does have a very quiet background compared to some other records I got at the same time in the 80s. Kind of like dolbyC on a high bias cassette quiet and very non Klipsch-like. So if you like Fleetwood Mac you might like this one. Worked at a Record Bar and got a lot of these promos, some more at an electronics fair that used to come to the Merchandise Mart downtown every year back then.

  12. They really do seem to like music, but in the middle of the night when it's really quiet it might have just got their attention ? Now if they would have sat back with a drink listening or dancing it would have been a sure sign, although there was a smoke cloud out there ? I don't know about the 301's but I know Carl made a very good choice.

  15. I sold a pair of 301-II's to buy the 396's. There's definitely a difference. Basically you're comparing a 2 way to a 3 way. Prior to selling them I had installed new crossovers and Ti diaphragms in the 301's so they were about as good as they were going to sound and I still much prefer the 396's.

  24. Thought you were at first talking about a clogged recirc. pump. There was a run of super strong peroxide not long ago. Think they do like some music. Not certain but, wonder if the 396's much different than the 301's. Anyway, they must be good.

  28. The difference on regular bluray offerings will be minimal but there is some gains in dynamic range... where you will notice a big difference is in HDR ultra disc playback. Even on a 1080p plasma you can see a vast improvement in playback between the 203 and last gen Oppo in terms of dynamic range and black level handling... but you need to buy new movie discs.

  31. Thank you, John. I doubt I'd get an honorary sticker but it's a nice thought and nice of you to say. They might only do that if I put factory mids and tweeters in them. Ha. (Which I can order, but...)

  35. You're right on both counts. The 396s are some really great sounding speakers and we had a fun afternoon giving them a test drive. Carl and his son Anthony were finishing up a cool battery powered bluetooth boom box project when I arrived. It's really a neat idea with a pair of 8" coax speakers with enough battery power for 6 hrs play time. After finishing up that project, we had some of Carl's famous martinis and enjoyed the 396s for a couple of hours. Those are some kick butt speakers if you haven't had the pleasure.

  38. I got lost in an IKEA once. I may have been bumped by someone wanting to kill me. I’m not sure. My phone wouldn’t work. In all seriousness, i was lost inside an IKEA and I was about to lose it ... i couldn’t find the exit. I finally started looking for a worker so i can ask how do i get out of this place. It’s an evil maze. Then one day, i saw a stand up comic named Jeremy Hotz ... he was doing a bit about IKEA and joked about how hard it is to get out of one of those stores.

  41. If you are in for 2 channel and you want something with decent bass response, my suggestion would be the Cornwall III. http://www.klipsch.com/products/cornwall-iii-floorstanding-speaker Will provide you plenty of bass with a 3-way/full range design. Welcome to the madness. ETA: I would encourage searching for a nice pair used, they can usually be had for between $800 and $1400.
