  1. Pepper plants still cranking out the produce. These were picked 10 minutes ago. I'll trim the plants back soon as they're getting way too tall and stringy.

  5. The first time I ate crawldad's was in New Orleans and I was drunk. I was with a girl from Honduras and we stopped at a place called My Father's Mostasch and ordered some. When they brought the bright red creatures to the table I didn't know how to eat them and being soused up really didn't help the situation.

  6. Since Mardi Gras is Tuesday and it looks like rain until then, and we had friends in from Arkansas we went to the french quarter last night. It was fun, and a little crowded but not as bad as it would be Mardi Gras day, everyone had a good time walking around catching beads from people on the balcony's. We walked bourbon street so long we missed the parade on canal street....which was fine with me. Bourbon street, it's starting to get wild working up to Tuesday

  7. At 60 not really worried either, if what I have done so far hasn't killed me I'll take a chance, never thought I would get this old. I probably shouldn't say this but i think I am ahead already considering everything. But I am still not eating one of Carl's peppers !

Getting settled in for the NASCAR race. Planning 1 3/4" rib eyes with teriyaki / Montreal steak seasoning but it's 37 outside and I have issues grilling in the cold. 22" Weber with Kingsford charcoal. Hints?

  13. Last night I freaked out my wife. My listening room is adjacent to the kitchen, about 25' away. The TV was on and I had the stereo paused. I put on a 24hz test tone (because I knew what it was going to do) I unpaused the stereo and let that 24hz test tone do it's thing. It was funny as hell. The dishes and glasses in the cabinets started rattling and she's like "what is that!? The glasses are going to break! Are you doing this?!!" LOL She new she married a bass freak years ago.....but this bass freak is now revitalized. Our anniversary is next month. I hope. [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  19. Well, the next time you cook up 350 pounds of crawfish, let me know, and I make a road trip. It would take a while, but you could not possible eat 350 pounds before I got there. I have never had a crawfish, but I bet yours are to die for, and I would love to try them. I don't use any prepared mixes for salmon either. Local food made by local people always the best.

  20. I guess it was seeing that HBO show about the kids from the other side of the speedway that are really good. Called "May it Last" and that is an appropriate sentiment for them. Never needed an excuse to binge on the CDB or Marshall Tucker, ARS or sometimes real country music. Those Avett Brothers are worth a listen if you haven't heard anything but that one song. Only problem I've ever had with Mr. Daniels..... he's always a couple hours late.... every time I've been to see them! From the South c1974.

  21. We wanted to sit down for a while so we went to a courtyard area called Musical Legends Park. It's just a courtyard right on Bourbon open so you can watch all the crazies walk buy. We got a couple drinks there, found out in the back of the courtyard was sponsored by Southern Comfort and was free drinks. I normally don't drink that kind but some man asked me if I tried it, I said no and was told you need to try it, it is something new they came out with. So after a little arm twisting we tried it, the guy mixing drinks was really good and the drink was good. Who knew, but if it's not your first few that might have helped ? we sat there a couple hours people watching and listening to music. They had a DJ that had a really good mix of music, and it was all vinyl 45's, but JBL speakers which kind of sucked, the drinks helped. We all had a good time but moving slow today, got home early this morning. From where we sat looking at Bourbon street. The other pic is the front of the bronze statues. And the DJ guy, he really did have a good mix, he used hard road cases full of 45's.

  22. Not cold anymore, just too darn wet to do any of the yardwork I need done before growing season starts. This good ol record goes hand in hand & came before Full Moon by the CDB. This was after Skynyrds plane crashed, the epitath on the back also goes audible on side 1 "Reflections" for several artists. Whew! made about a seven pound lasagna Thurs night...... we'll finish it off tonight! Second coffee coming up soon!

  23. Have you ever tried the sous vide method? I use it for steak, hot, warm, or freezing (which in Seattle is anything under 50 degrees). http://www.seriouseats.com/2015/06/food-lab-complete-guide-to-sous-vide-steak.html

  24. Wouldn't think it would be a problem with charcoal they get so hot. I say this because I have a problem with trying to deal with how it gets so hot fast then slowly slows down, but it should be perfect for steaks.

  25. Yea, first of all, Kingsford is death in a paper bag....Charcoal in itself is not particularly good for you, but Kingsford contains some nasty fillers. Pure lump charcoal only for me.

  26. I use a Weber and a chimney style coal starter. LF has a large green Egg. Use more charcoal than usual and a leaf blower to get the coals red hot. Careful with cinders that blow away.

  27. It's been years since we cooked that many, it was for a party. Also cooked a whole pig, it was fun but plenty work even with everyone willing to help. Back then we lived in a subdivision, so besides people we worked with and friends we invited everyone in the neighborhood, we figured this was better between the noise and parking there was less chance of the the police being called. It was fun, maby again one day ? I could imagine, just remember wash your hands a couple times and never rub or touch your eyes after. That's funny I remembered your picture and was wondering how it would be. They either finished which I doubt or just stopped until after mardi gras ? I like hot stuff but I can NOT handle those peppers, no way.

  28. Van Halen - first recording. These networks need a few hours. 35 wpc of KT-88 Ultralinear. This integrated has a real preamp section - with a very nice stepped attenuator. “Little Dreamer”, sounds awesome. One notch on the attenuator at 11:37 PM. @mike stehr where are you?

  33. You couldn't teach a real coonass to boil crawfish. A coonass would never say "prepared" crawfish. A coonass would never have someone else boil them unless they were out somewhere and only got a few pounds as a snack. When you boil, a minimum would be 35-40 pounds, that's how many are in a sack, most people boil at least 2 sacks up to however many needed. The most we have boiled for one get together was about 350 pounds, we NEVER use the pre-mixed seasoning BS.

  36. Kind of did it again the other day, had music playing low since people were setting in the room talking and it cut off. It was Pandora and I first thought it was asking if I was still listening which it does sometimes but it was not the problem so I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out the problem. Then I noticed the amps cut off, I had them set to auto and when a song came on that was a little quite the amps went to sleep and the volume was not enough to wake them back up on the next song.

  38. Thank you very much for your reply roboklipsch, I do not have an acoustically transparent screen and not really looking into one....buy I do have some flexibility in this room with speaker placement because I can move my screen up and down along with the projector. But I can't move the screen high enough to accommodate 3 280fs up front but I could do 3 or 5 81s quite easily. Could you expand on the benefits of 5 rp160ms over 5 rb81s? Thanks again, Shane

  39. Depends on the size of the room, for sure. If your listening room is really small (e.g., 12-15 feet laterally each direction, ceiling at 8 feet), you'll probably not hear a lot of difference between a DR and horn-loaded sub. Small rooms pressurize much more easily, so the sub is able to provide reasonably linear output with controlled compression distortion. As the room size gets larger, you'll definitely hear the difference, even if the bandwidth of the sub(s) is limited to an octave or two. This is not subtle, but can be disguised to some degree by moving the crossover frequency down as low as possible (probably 50-55 Hz) assuming that the "Uccellos" are room corner loaded. This works up to the point that the DR sub must be used above perhaps ~85-90 dBC at one metre, then you'll hear the compression distortion take hold on the DR subs, while the horn-loaded sub(s) basically keep on going without apparent limitation. You may think that this isn't a big deal because you might think that you don't really listen that loud overall. But for low frequencies, this really isn't the case. The following equal loudness contours will show you why subs basically play loud all the time: the curves get very close together below 100 Hz and therefore require the subs to play at a relatively high intensity all the time--only small changes in output acoustic pressure lead to big changes in perceived loudness, and it takes a lot . In a small room, DR subs can usually pressurize the room well without moving mass effects and compression distortion (as well as ohmic heating of the voice coils) beginning to take over. All of these effects seem to gang up on the DR subs at the same time, so it tends to be very threshold-sensitive, and I've found that it's strongly related to the size of your listening room. Chris

  45. Got that Columbian Supremo roasting down cold with my Secura. Such a deal! Fresh roast, no hassle. And so cheap. Just finished 5 lbs of the Columbian roasting the last pound today. May order something else just to experiment since green bean prices on line have dropped so much over the past few years it's easily competitive even with Folger's. Dave

  46. If you are going to build something 6 feet tall build the THTLP from Bill Fitzmaurice with the Dayton RSS390 15", its going to the best bang for the buck sub you can build. The tube idea is nice but it don't differ in any way besides being round instead of cubed.
