  2. I need to break out the big old cookbook for that Madeira / carrot sauce French like recipe that is so good for venison. Saw two big bucks and a doe the other day, these five might be their offspring. "They" cleared about seven acres adjacent to my neighborhood a decade ago to build Park South Station condos. The wildlife from there lives in "our" territory now, three medium sized creeks run through here in about a two mile square area. So when they aren't in our yards I guess they're in those natural areas. They watched us watching them getting in the car a while ago, then I get back and they're nestled in the soft bed of pine needles that I put out recently. Been around freezing most of the day here with flurries and sleet but they are acting very comfortable.

  4. I've ridden in a helicopter a couple times, just a regular seat beat. My Dad had a small airplane back in the 70s and 80s, a Piper Cherokee, it had lap belts as well.

  8. Sounds like a plan WillyBob. Nothing like rediscovering old vinyl collection. Have a newer mid-end Technics with cover that I always use. DizRotus has some good threads on cleaning them, as well as others. Woke up with clocks an hour behind but, not a biggie. March came in like a lamb around here but, nice stiff wind today and the lows remain tolerable. Like the cool and going to do outside work continued while still coolish. Second cupper Looks like Mike having a blast of cool... Stay safe.

  9. thinking that I should start looking at my vinyl. Living in the dust bowl ... I gonna need a lot of cleaner, if that will help. I have a fair collection. Hasn't seen light of day for years. Knock the cobwebs off the old Technics. See if the motor turns. For sure needs a belt. Has a ShureM91ED, if that is still good. May need to check some wiring in the circuit from the cartridge ...

  11. Brewed a simple Irish Dry Stout on Saturday. Here are some pics. The grains. The janky, makeshift "brewstand" (not fully in position here) Gotta have a beer when you make beer. State law. Normally I drink one of my own homebrews during a brew day, but I was sadly out. So, I chose to drink some Barley Buddy Brown from one of my favorite local breweries, The Bier Brewery. Man this stuff is good. Also gotta have some tunes. Using my KMC 3 (the KHorns are "in the shop", AKA, "not built or even purchased yet" -- cut me some slack) Mash in. I always love the aroma mashing gives off. So yummy! The boil. About 7.2 Gallons of sweet, sweet wort here. And finally, 6 hours later (including cleanup / prep time), here's the beer in the Fast Ferment vessel. In 2 weeks, I get to put that beer in a keg, carbonate it, and a few days after that I get to drink it!

  14. Very well, sometimes has relapse it overall a A-. Lots pasta, belly rubs and whatever else I'm not even going to ask their giving her when I'm not looking. A funny.. Yesterday she got a nice warm bath with a deshedding mitt. Extreme princess package that took us a little over an hour. Afterwards she went NUTS! ZOOM, ZOOM this way and that way feeling good. I looked at the ingredients with suspicion. Not that. I thought, damn then I'm going to get deshedding myself and promptly went to the hair stylist that I've been going to for twelve years. I asked her if she had the same that would make me do that. She cracked up. While I didn't zoom, I certainly had a nice pep in my step after the haircut. She's doing great.

  21. I ended up buying the 650C. The independent DACs for each channel and online reviews helped. Thanks for the suggestion Bill! Looking forward to getting it. Yes, I'm a rare individual who still listens to CDs. It will be nice to discover my collection again! My RB-5s have opened up a whole new world of sound so it will be awesome to expand it even more.

  23. @wvu80 good lookin out. I’m on the fence with what I should do with my 7/2’s. I think I will eventually (5-10 years) get then RF-7/3’s I don’t think that the 64/3 will sound bad with the 7/2’s, as stated in earlier posts on this thread, they don’t all process the same material(unless in 7ch stereo). So to pinpoint the differences will be difficult to naked ear. I will get the 64/3 and exchange for 64/2 if it’s that bad.

  24. The Pizza thread (yes, I lurk here more than you might think) got me wanting to talk about homebrewing. I've been homebrewing beer for a little over a year now. mainly do 5-gallon all-grain batches, which I serve out of cornelius kegs. I only had to bottle one time to realize how bad that sucked, and immediately moved to kegs instead. I'm still very "wet behind the ears" when it comes to this stuff. I may actually do my first brew of the year this weekend if it's not too cold. Probably a dry stout or a "milkshake IPA". Any other homebrewers here?

  31. I should get off my duff and do something. Guess I'll have to. Can't reach the volume knob..... The neighbors think I'm bad now ... one day, I was working at the store ... a guy came in, "Hey Bill, did you hear music this AM?" "No, not over my stereo" ... he lived a block away. wait for those LaScalas ... I do keep my noisy period to hours when the AirForce is playing. That way, I'm not the only one being loud.

  39. Ok, so maybe not a "great" photo but here is Lily knocked out cold. She didn't hear me open the door. Not like I was quiet either as there is a chain on the door. So much for being a robust guard dog.

  40. Don’t go rushing to spend your money. Adjust the placement, including the toe in, of your speakers to your taste. Utilize the tone controls of your receiver. Those two things will fix the majority of issues and don’t cost a dime. And are immediately reversible. Don’t look for the most difficult to implement solutions. Keep it simple.

  43. I fixed up this 1958 Imperial LeBaron and sold it to a museum in Florida. Dezer museum. Fairly rare car, all stock and everything worked when sold. The hubcaps were removed by me just in case someone wanted them while it was parked outside. They were the rare 58 lebaron version. Currently working on a 2 door hardtop with the all the options except power windows.

  45. I bought a 500 foot roll of 12 ga. for my home theater and it was not enough, but I did not actually measure the length as I spooled it out, so maybe the label was bogus?

  46. What do you mean by shelf life of 10 yrs. That would imply same in use. Yes many speaker wires turn green and oxidize but are they bad at that point or do the connections need to remain clean? Maybe I need to replace the wiring in my house also.
