You forgot "Cambridge". Ohhh, can't wait to here impression of FIIIs - congrats! Is that some sort of funky salt lamp? One showed up at my house after a recent outing by the wife. Supposed to do all sorts of good things for you....so much so that I can't remember any of them.4 points

Easier to take apart. The solution turns to powder, prevents corrosion and acts as lubricant when taken apart.4 points

A fascinating individual. His ability to deal with his ALS-like condition was admirable. May he RIP. I spent all day Friday with a friend who is a paraplegic Vietnam War veteran. He was again an inspiration as he drove us around Tucson in his heavily modified Toyota SUV. He enjoys unusual success in Casinos. He described taking significant winnings at Christrmas time and driving around Tucson giving $50 bills to those he felt in need of some Christmas cheer. Observing Hawking, my friend, and others persevere and succeed in the face of adversity, puts the inconveniences in my life in perspective. Now a shameles plug for my friend’s new book, The Reunion by Thomas Conrad. He describes it as a novel, not a memoir. It’s available from Amazon. If you read it, I’d like your opinion.4 points

Windy, chilly, and sunny. Pollen pretty heavy too. A few breaks in the irrigation system fixed yesterday. No alcohol consumption for 3 days That's about it.3 points

Ours made it from the living room to the bedroom. Gotta admit it makes a pretty good nightlight. When I look at it I can't help but think it is some sort of left over prop from the original Star Trek days.3 points

You may have noticed in previous posts I've got a bit of an obsession with the first Boston LP. Too long of a story, but basically one of the pieces of music that has big part of my life for about 40 years. A friend of mine is sort of in the same way. We always joke about it, text each other when we hear any song from the LP "out in the wild". I think he heard one at Lowe's of all places recently. We always rock it way too loud on my Klipsch speakers when he comes to visit from out of state. I'm going to visit him this weekend so a few weekends back I started a little project. I wanted to make him something to frame the LP cover but those dudes on the back with quintessential 70s haircuts simply could not be hidden. Also wanted the cover and no matting to keep it smaller and more LP sized. What to do? I decided on this. Can be put on desk/table or hung on a wall and easily flipped around to display either side. I'm not much of a woodworker but trying to learn in my all too short free time. I messed up two of the four pieces of wood by routing the groove for the LP and glass all the way through the ends forcing me to make a new top and bottom piece (there would have been square holes at each end). Based on my snails pace and buying materials at retail I'm taking orders. $1,000 should cover it and I'll have them for you by Christmas 2020. Solid walnut and dark oil finish. Not perfect but it is the thought that counts, right? Next time double rabbet joints in the corners and dowels.2 points

these were Bugler papers, I wouldn't use for anything but tobacco... they're just a little thinner than newsprint ... but cheap. tbh, if I am offered a tailor made cig, I turn it down. They leave me wanting a cigarette. dtel that a stub of a Sago palm? Our weeds are starting green up. Takes a week or so for a visible difference. The cottonwoods popped leaves and the elderberries are green. It still gets cold at night. We can grow apples here2 points

Yeah back in the day we had some "wild tobacco" growing in these parts. I believe it to be the infamous "ditch weed". But hey, if you insist on calling it tobacco we're good with that. We are very non-judgemental here.2 points

The Forte III thread where I started here with you guys I used a lot of adverbs @rplace. I won't get smacked with the palpable air pressure from the Heresy IIs anymore, but what I was seeking has been here since last summer! Forte IIIs have lower bass without adding a left and right sub. I say two because I don't like the idea of one sub for a stereo signal. They don't go that low, but it is an upgrade. The soundstage is what is easily special about the Forte III. Good recorded LP, great cartridge, decent mid-grade amplification... the F3 is just about magical. I'm happy! Salt lamp is supposed to ionize the air when the incandescent lamp heats it up, ok unless you replace it with an led when it burns out! Good night lights for old & young eyes, amber is calming as opposed to a vivid blue.2 points

Cool idea, never seen an album displayed like that. That album is one of Roy's favorites, I remember when it came out in 1976, things were much different back then.2 points

I roll my own cigarettes.... really "tailor made" cigarettes are about as "good" as canned ground coffee since I'm on a roll... there is tobacco that grow wild down here. The indigenous peoples used it for religious ceremonies ... it must be pretty strong.2 points

thanks. I tear down the breather tubes in my woodstove every few weeks to clean the chimney. I was looking around for some NeverSeize. in one of our sheds. Found a can from blasting caps... That won't help unrelated but I found an old Folger's can. My folks drank the stuff and I don't remember this can. It has a ship on it.2 points

Auburn's in the Midwest region and WVU is in the East, but they both have first round games at San Diego State. That supports my way of looking at it.2 points

Very well said. Sadly as much as I like buying and selling vintage Klipsch because I like working on them it has become VERY hard to buy at a price where you can make money after time to acquire and cost of drive + cost and time to fix up things which seems to be required three out of four times. If you believe in re-capping old crossovers which I do then every single one unless already done needs this. If it is already done then the seller rightfully expects to get more so cost to buy goes up. I am working to get my money out of current offerings and after personal expenses from EBay fees to repairs maybe getting 15 to 20% averaged markup after all expenses and it is not worth it. I hardly ever get to buy at the prices thrown about around here and the choice is to either pay more of forget doing it and believe me I spend time looking. A few times per year you get lucky the rest of the time if you wish to have things for sale regularly you don't get lucky. Cheap prices are the exception to the rule in Nashville for speakers in decent shape..2 points

That'd be "about" 100. Although ignorance of the law is no excuse, 100mph at 2200 rpm seems quite acceptable depending upon traffic volumes. Safe & stable while getting where you need to go. Oops, 65mph is roughly 100Kph. Sorry officer, my internal calculator must be a bit off today. And, Do you routinely defend your traffic infraction citiations in court?2 points

Even the LS II averages about $1500. And yes, he's still got them, that looked like a "I don't want to sell them" price. Now he can go back to his wife and declare "honey I tried to sell them, but nobody wanted them even though new ones are $10,000 and I was only asking $2200." Add puzzled look. Just a guess.2 points

Without a hammer you have nothing, although I have beat on things with a wrench like that, standard or metric makes no difference for beating. My favorite tool, cordless drill which of course I use as a screwdriver more than anything.2 points

I dont really have a huge desire for mono but tone controls are essential; I wouldn’t even consider an amp integrated or otherwise, without them.2 points

If you are insulted when someone asks what your bottom dollar is, then you are not really serious about selling. Be patient, others will come along, maybe not super close to you, but worth a little bit of a drive.2 points
-
No. Depends on your definition of immaculate, the finish, drivers, crossovers, etc. But still probably about $1K too high.2 points

we have an Englander w/glass door. It maw is 2X as big as the door on yours. I think our stove is 4cu/ft. A gift from the neighbor. "Plumbing'" too. I like your stove kettle. We have a few that came with the house. Wife was asking what the heavy as tea kettles were for. I'm learnin' her. These intellectuals are hard as hell to teach ...2 points

Well, not if the listener wants tone/balance/mono controls. That's my point. ..As far I'm aware nowadays only McIntosh, Luxman, Accuphase, and Anthem offer all of these and these brands are prohibitively expensive for most people. I miss the days when pretty much all integrateds had these features. I guess I miss the Golden Days of Audio My dad had this integrated.2 points
