  1. Not my photo Originally posted by KevinM here - https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/176016-az-saguaro-silhouette-against-a-monsoon-sunset/ Quote: In Arizona here, the sun rises over the Superstition Mtns, with a lil bit of luck, on a monsoon evening in the summer, it will set across the desert with stunning drama. Added: While I'm a whoore for "likes" and could certainly use some, I don't deserve any here for simply re-posting another member's photo. You guys should be liking KevinM.

  2. Heres my progress. Had finishing nearly done, but had to weight for touchups. I think I spent as much on fasteners as wood. This one was built for the family and god a lot of love and extra details... painting most of the inside and extra bracing. We went with a med blue as its the family speaker... very unlikely Ill ever find someone who wants in blue and as such its safe form sale. Horns woofers are in. Horns are nuts, washers and bolts. Woofers are thread-certs that were glued into place. Woofers are 1/4-20 Dave added a backing for the woofer for rigidity. The mounting flange is 1-1/4" a result and the from is recessed. All in all Im really liking... the size and color makes me feel like its a JBL rather than a cornscala. Tomorrow will be installing crossover, buttoning it up and tuning.

  4. Nice picture by your son Marvel, cute little girls. Was looking on the hard drive for a pic and found this ODD one from 08. I took this because the illusion reminded me of when I was a little kid and my grandfather would take me to his barber sometimes when he went. The barber shop had large mirrors on the wall behind you and in front of you so you got this illusion and it fascinated me as a little kid. This was in a cabin on vacation in 08.

  6. @WillyBob I think it was you talking about RC helicopters, I found a old picture of my RC boat. It what they called a Youngblood hull, the motor was a Picco 65 water cooled with a beryllium surface drive propeller. It ran on 40% nitro and was very fast, about 65 mph and a little tough to control because it could get out of sight fast. It was about as loud as a chainsaw, it's hard to imagine how they get this much power from a tiny engine, .65 cubic inches and 3 horsepower @33,000 rpm. This is the only picture I had left, I had someone drive it past me slowly to get a pic which is not very good, and this is a pic of that print so it's even worse.

Trainer took it easy on us......we were attacking each other with knives.... fake ones, but sill hard plastic.... I had to take a few time outs and catch my breath. It was just good to get out and exercise. MKP :-)

  12. --- we can continue in the open, keep it civil and its nothing more than opinions on what the "membership" is about. With many trips to Hope and the Pilgramage, owning many Klipsch speakers beginning in the early 70's and looking at several as I write, my wife and thought we should support the Museum as Founding Members and in its honor PWK. We didn't do this with expectations that the Museum would unearth the list of speakers being discussed. Or being called on the Klipsch Founders Member Hot line with special deals on Khorns, Jubilees, etc. I have those anyway. Or any other "spiffs" associated with the donation. So your "join with the promise of future rewards" is a bit shallow and uninformed. But with this being said I do appreciate the Klipsch corporate jet making a stop from Indy and letting us hitch a ride to Hope. Oops, got to go, the Klipsch Hot Line is ringing ---

  15. Wow, Remember your trip and the room service at a lovely spot you two were at. Been as far as Marathon as recall but yes, it is a job to just begin to do the speed limit. Wrote about the Tampa to Fort Myers interstate race. Traffic sucks you into drafting. Coffee can help, but not too much anymore. Have had to have a couple of cups late at night for Klipsch road trips. Maybe they are heading south to pick up Klipsch.

  16. Pics I found in my dad's collection of a reunion and send-off in 1955. He remembered the original endurance flight because he lived in the city below, and even a little kid notices a plane flying in circles for days on end. https://dragonseye.com/blog/2016/01/The-Flying-Keys/ Here is one of my grandfather Hagemeyer in his first radio shop around 1930. http://dragonseye.com/photos/picture.php?/16506-jkhagemeyerradioshop2/category/757-hagemeyer and the car...

  19. Yes she is, I think you helped a little. That's funny, but I do love her expression. Oh what a surprise, I'm surprised your not the administrator of the site. It's not surprising, I would think sometimes your brother just looks at you and don't know what to say. It's hard being Steve, we know.

  20. Loved Gunny. Died from pneumonia. My doctor always advises I get a flu shot. I am older and have had heart problems. He's a good doctor even when I voice my concerns about vaccines. He's so good, he has a mortality rate of 100% in his work.

  21. Your running around in circles Freddie. The Forum is run by KGI. If your wife is miffed about something with the Forum I suggest she take it up with @Chad. The Musuem is completely seperate but does have many members from the Forum, as well as past employees, current employees, people from unrelated FB groups, dealers, people who don't own Klipsch but knew Paul, people who never knew Paul but own Klipsch and on and on Members all have one thing in common, they want to preserve and keep alive the memory of PWK and his company Klipsch and Associates along with the products he invented; in furtherance of that the Museum is promoting STEM education by the examples of PWK. None of them joined with the expectation of getting speakers or discounts, or a key chain or anything else, because we didn't known about it and we are not going to offer something we are unsure of. Our other membership catagories launched at the beginning of this year with an overwhelmingly response. This generous donation of speakers occurred two weeks ago, they were picked up last week when I made the post. The Officers of the KHMA decided that they would offer them to members first, as a way of saying thanks to those who already joined, as well as encourage others to join heading into the Annual Membership Meeting which will take place during the Pilgramage. KHMA is run by all volunteers who have gotten NO benefits other than the satisfaction of trying to turn a dream into a reality. Thousands of combined volunteer hours, several thousands of combined miles driven or flown on our own dime. In short, a labor of love. Two years ago when this whole thing started we all had to pay for the privelege of being a member in order to volunteer because I wrote the Bylaws to be about MEMBERS. Members have a vote, members have a say in KHMA. KHMA is for those that knew and loved Paul, or his products and designs, or who believe in STEM education, or . . for a miriad of other reasons too numerous to even try to list. This is about trying to preserve a story that is worth preserving, about a mad genius and maverick who started making speakers one at a time in a tin shed, who built a company in Hope that employed "a good chunk of the town" and who ultimately became a Legend in Sound. The Members, the Officers and the Board of Trustees are all committed to continuing and improving the preservation of that memory in a manner truly befitting a Legend. It takes money, and it takes members. We don't take our members for granted, we are accountable to them, we are going to work hard to keep them, regardless of their level of participation. Speaking for myself only, I don't really think I would want someone who was only joining to get a discount. However, I am going to keep trying to work with KGI to get members discounts, special products and anything else to encourage them to be members. Travis P.S. Membership has its privileges.

  23. Ah . . . . the days of inhaling hot fuel proof dope! How many brain cells were sacrificed at model airplanes, cars, boats, etc. altar? Between that and football, wrestling and sailing concussions, it's a wonder I don't drool . . . more.

  24. I was concerned about timbre match initially because the room was a dedicated HT. I went so far as to match drivers (all Crites) and 3 matching crossovers from DeanG. Then I rekindled my love affair with great music and added tubes and a turn table and bought back endless amounts of vinyl. The HT gear is all solid state. At this point in my life I still love movies and use the HT 2-3 times a month for movies. Not too worried about dialogue problems with the HT were I to move forward with Jubilees. At this point I care much more about chasing the perfect 2-channel set up. I am a bit apprehensive about an active crossover, just because I know zero about them or their use. Guessing like most things not too hard once you jump in. I'm not sure why I'm even considering this as Khorns and VRDs are pretty sweet by most people's standards. But then saying that to this crowd is like telling a junkie just go cold turkey.

  26. Passed through your whole state a couple of months ago, Orlando, Palm Beach, Miami and Key West. And I thought the drivers were bad around New Orleans, it seems the further South you go in Fla the worse it gets, it's like Indy 500 and bumper cars combined. But it was a fun trip, we had never been South of Cape Canaveral before this trip.

  27. I agree 1000%, snakes, who cares, BEE's Now I'm payin attention, I'm a Journeyman Lineman and we get bee's in our equipment all the time, metal poles, street lights, j-box's, transformers, ect ect, We have annual bee training, so I hear ya bro, I can 99% of the time see a rattler, just take a few steps away, but get stung by 1 bee and the pharamone scent is in ya and the rest come to it to defend the colony by the thousands. When ya start gettin head bumped by a bee or two, run, forrest, run!

  28. I'm also allergic to cats....but have one. Not only that, seems he's "chosen" me and will crawl on my lap if given the choice and his favorite place to lounge is right in front of me ON my desk as I sit here typing! Not a fan of declawing them unless very specifically, they are captive indoor cats. Mine goes outside so needs them to defend, climb and at times (unfortunately) hunt... My prior two cats (one of them) clawed the fronts of my EV Interface D's and when the fabric was gone, salivated at the chance to slice & dice up the VMR's which now sat exposed. I didn't see it until too late and simply faced speakers (in storage in basement) to each other to eliminate anyone getting between them. I guess I like cats. (have three dogs too) Back to the thread action... I was told when a cat is clawing, you might be best served to give him a scratching post and evidently place it where he's loving to scratch. In other words, don't do what my wife wanted to do....get him a scratching post and put it in the other room.... put it where his action is.

  35. A couple guys asked about my results with using the Xilica XP 4080, so here are the latest measurements from my room. It sounds awesome with these settings here, I haven't changed anything but some tubes since last year when I finished this and the results are pretty much dead on. I did pick up a little bit on the HF end but, not enough to adjust anything as you can see....

  37. I don't see any "insiders click" with the museum and I have no doubt they would love to see much more participation from forum members as well as those outside the forum. What I see is the museum needs supporters and in thanks they are trying to recognize and thank those supporters and encourage others to join and not just be bystanders if you care about what they are trying to accomplish then please help them any way you can. Bottom line for me is the museum is about PWK and his life and accomplishments and is for those who want to see this preserved. miketn

  40. No way I'm easy to get along with, not like Jim, or Oldtimer, they are cranky sometimes. No, I'm the monkey here, or really it's Orangutan, but with my family tree there could be a little of anything in there ? But I am related to a pirate, my sister did one of those genealogy family tree things and found that out. Jean laffite, my mother was not thrilled at all. See a resemblance ?

Now once a long time ago I went to a gym that had a glass wall and on the other side was aerobics for women, that was a great motivation to make you spend a little more time working out, and watching.

  45. Here's my $0.02... I'm fortunate to own a pair of each... The Forte II is "smoother" and more "laid back" through the midrange and high frequencies, with a very solid "warm" low end. The KLF 20's are more "up front" through the midrange and high frequencies (probably because of their height) and have a somewhat "punchy" low end. Though the low end frequency response of the Forte is rated a bit lower (32Hz vs 34Hz), the KLF 20's sound like they reach down quite a bit more (at least in my room). For comparison, the midrange and tweeter on the KLF 20 (with spikes on the bottom) are respectively 5 inches higher than they are on the Forte II. Forte II - Just about any type of music sounds great coming through these. KLF 20 - If you like rock, metal, rap and/or anything with big dynamics and like to occasionally "feel the music" then you can't go wrong with the 20's.
