the Arizona Dept of Transportation just ran a PSA for how to correctly follow a snowplow this AM. We tease about the ice "breaking" on the SantaCruzRiver when it hits 100`, but, I do not think we are expecting snow because it is under 100`. Not today and yes, I am feeling better today thank you all4 points

due to a lack of trees, our have taken the place of woodchucks down here. There have tunnels in the Jujube grove. No, gummi bears don't grow on trees .. The common name is ChineseDate. Most of the original plantings at this house are medicinal. Nopal - prickly pear. Pomegranates, Jujube .. no aloe vera. Anyone that has it will gladly get rid of some. the Jujubes are mildly sweet and crunchy/crisp. Not juicy. When they dry, they do resemble a date and taste similar, with a magnitude less sugar. Supposed to be a calmative. They smell nice in bloom. Kinda like lime jello, a candy citrus fragrance. The flowers are very small and chartreuse. Not a showboat. the coons and woodpeckers get most of them. Not so much the coons now. I trapped and relocated a half dozen regulars to the lake.4 points

Mostly unrelated, but I also wondered who the first person to make cottage cheese was and how they came to the conclusion that they were done.3 points

I like coffee but not that much. Same thing about raw Oysters, who thought to open a shell and eat it raw, but I do like those. At least they didn't pass through another animal first, big difference.3 points

Interesting @KROCK, not had too much exposure to music like that. Some parts sound like the big band stuff of the 40s, mostly it brings Desi Arnez to my mind3 points

THESE are the good ol' days. You miss the past but cherish the present. My little girl who made her first communion just a few years ago (or so it seems) move to the other end of the country to make airplanes. I missed her terribly. Last September she got transferred back here and now all is right with the word again. It's a rollercoaster, son, enjoy the ride.3 points

You can sprinkle a little sea salt on it to ramp up the sweetness of the watermelon, but not required.2 points

I think, again, hunger drove that. ...may not be so tasty, but he didn't die. I would like to know who decided cranberries were edible? If I told you that you can eat the acorns down here w/o prepping them first... These are not rich in tannins and are quite passable. We have a bush that very closely resembles holly -- the berries on it ARE edible. Don't try that with true holly.2 points

I probably have about 20 more pairs of speakers that I can't even remember what they are. This list was from the top of my head. This is only a list of the ones that are ready to sell. I have a long list of speakers that need to be refoamed, about 6 turntables and maybe 20 AV receivers. I'll go out to my storage this weekend to organize and list the rest of what I have.2 points

I think you're taking my comments wrong - I'm not upset. Just amused at this point about how easy it is for 2 people to be saying the same thing and yet they are so different.2 points

I draw the line there, too Elden. I don't care how bad I want a cup of coffee, I would not go there. Raw oysters, raw fish ... I wish I had been to Hawaii before I went and spent a couple weeks on the WA "beach". The tide pools are choke with good stuff to eat. About anything that comes out of the ocean is good to eat. That what I learned from living in HI. There is a fish called the Nightmare Weke... Don't eat the head. @oldtimer knows about them. BigStewMan was gone for a while before I got on the boards, here. I remember everyone welcoming him back. I just wish him a fun time and a speedy return.2 points

Sounds familiar. My oldest daughter moved to Texas last year for college. We FaceTime talk every night but it's not the same, hopefully she will move closer to home some day. My wife cried herself to sleep every night for a few months 😞2 points

It wasn't today, but a couple of weeks ago, when I finally got a Blu-ray player. My 2005-vintage Yamaha DVD-S550 DVD player was starting to get glitchy when playing movies, but it still plays CDs just fine. I'd had my eye on the Oppo 203, but with them going out of production, I decided to go with the Panasonic UB-900, which reviewers put in the same class. Hooking it up turned out to be more complicated than expected, partly because HDCP 2.2 means that the way digital disc players and cable TV inputs were hooked up in 2016 (all sources to the receiver, then video out to the TV) stopped working in 2017, so now video sources have to go directly to the TV. Also, HDMI Control now has to be Off instead of On. If it's on, turning off the TV turns off the receiver, plus some other odd things were happening. This is why I had no video output for a few days, but the audio from CDs was amazingly better than what the old DVD player puts out. The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots sounded thin and bass-shy with the 2005 player, but with the 2018 player, it's full-bodied and more clear. I was amazed! Once I got video working, that was great, too. I got the Eagles' Blu-ray Farewell Tour 1, Live From Melbourne, and it looks and sounds great. The player automatically upscans DVDs, and Sheena Ringo's RingoEXPo08 concert DVD looks and sounds amazing. The UB-900 has two HDMI outputs, the usual audio + video output, and an audio-only output, with the idea that the audio-only HDMI output will have less interference and hopefully cleaner sound. As well, it has a High Clarity Sound mode, and Sound Effects. This lets you choose between 3 "Re-master" settings for different types of music, plus 6 Digital Tube Sound options, from "a tight, hi-fi sound", to "a soft, enveloping sound", plus 4 more. I haven't experimented with those yet, since for me, less processing is better processing. I'm liking it!2 points

The sound from the x20i's is amazing - blows me away! Construction quality could be better. I take great care of these but have still had to replace both left and right earbuds/wires (luckily still under warranty and easy to change). The outer sheath of the wires on both eventually started to pull away from connectors and thus exposing the inner wire. Also, the mic/volume button is too big in my opinion and placed such that it annoyingly catches on my shirt collar all the time. Other than these glitches, I love these things - they sound great and are very comfortable (with the right earbud tips for your ears).2 points

Reminds me of when my oldest daughter moved to North Carolina. It killed us. She was there 2 years and is now only an hour and 45 minutes from here. We were ecstatic when she moved back.2 points

He called it an "Amp crate." But then again he said he had "to" (sp) Klipsch and "to" (sp) Yamaha speakers, so who knows? I just saw his note, he "bumped into it with the forklift. Normal wear and tear."2 points

Beautiful. I believe I got my same setup as you from the same dealer. I’m in awe of these speakers and how much more dynanic they are than my 280’s (which are no slouch). My Marantz SR-7010 paired with the Marantz MM-7055 amplifier makes my jaw drop and puts a huge grin on the face of all my friends who come to listen. I do not regret saving over $800 by not getting the III’s. The II’s are all i could ask for and more.2 points

My sentiments exactly. If you are desperate enough to fish beans from dung you are an addict and, you bet ... that coffee will be good -- to them No, I am not so adventurous as to spend good money on something like that. Just because it is rare and/or very difficult to get, doesn't make it good. I won't do "It's Maui Wowie with a little Labrador", either.2 points

That's the one. You have to wonder who was the first guy that thought making a cup of coffee out of this would be a good idea.2 points

--- my comment was tongue-in-cheek. We will be "camping" at the Super 8! Snakes? I'd bet they are around but I've never seen one. I'd imagine several stacks of KP600's keep them at bay --?! Dtel spends time there, maybe he knows --?1 point

That lady, I will get her name, hS been working there FOREVER. She is building a preamp. I will see if I can find out which one. The photo with Richard, on the right, with President 9f Cary, is in front of 805 power amps they are getting ready to fully assemble.1 point
