  5. Well, sad I didn't get a picture of the brisket when it came out as it was pretty much textbook. The two 16 year olds cut it to pieces within minutes and it was being consumed before I realized I didn't get a picture. But here are a few from our Cossatot trip. Man, I LOVE the B&B Lump Mesquite charcoal. I get 6 or more hours of superb even heat from it in the Masterbuilt 7 in 1. And the Masterbuilt remains my ultimate versatile instrument good for everything from smoking to making morning coffee. Dave

  6. I've got a pair of 1996 La Scala LSI-B "Professional" series that I just now pulled the woofer door covers off and I discovered this... (see picture) How often did the employees actually sign things like that? And one is more of a written message and not just a signature plus all are dated 5-2-96...maybe the day actually finished? I guess there's no question on their build date. I thought that was pretty cool.

  7. That's good, you need to support all the bad habits, like a place to live, electricity, food, a way to work, you know the luxuries we get use to.

  10. you were out of coffee, Mike? or just the first cup of the day? I feel that way when I've been away from MY coffee. I don't have the pocket for $5 cup of good mud. the grass If it's Bermuda, it will come back. My mom did not water her "lawn" for years, down here. And every summer, after the rains got going, I had to mow it. It would come up all long ropes. I wouldn't have a lawn, but this place had it already. It came up in the rain ... SO, I take care of it. I have to admit enjoying walking barefoot in it. You can barefoot elsewhere .. not as enjoyable.

  11. What is unbelievable is the officer yells "shots fired!" and still accelerates towards the danger! You can hear the tension in his voice go up from calm to tense after he reports the first shots fired. He empties his 17 round magazine (17 for 9mm) then is so freaked out he tries to put the mag in backwards! He finally gets the fresh mag in and empties it again into the perp's car. FBI stats say the typical gun battle lasts about 3 rounds and that the rate of miss for law enforcement is 80%. You can see why in this case. I think I counted 18 shots from his initial mag (so 17+1 in the chamber) then 16 the second time. He was very close to having to reload again. My son is in law enforcement and he carries three .40 caliber 15 round mags, one in the Glock .40 and two on his gun belt. What true heroes these guys are for putting themselves on the front line like this to protect us. +++ One of the perps took the room temperature challenge. One police car was hit by bullets twice and was knocked out of the chase. LE used a shotgun at one point. More and better details here:

  12. For years.....first thing walking in the door after work was turning on the stereo. Now it's normally only Friday night through the weekend. Today, after working a 13 hour day I flew home to turn this baby on. I'm so impressed with this amp.[emoji106] Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  16. And, just so you know.....No one ever said that ALL cables are created equal. That is the perspective that you have taken based on a very small sampling of conversations that have occurred regarding this subject. IMHO, there is certainly a point of diminishing return based on construction and price. And, I agree with WCD, Mogami is very good....not exactly cheap, but well made.

  19. I left a link to the news story in my post with those details. One perp took the room temperature challenge. After being shot, he was handcuffed and later died. After failing to enter an elementary school because of a locked door, the other perp was arrested.

  21. I sent the back panels of my Heresy "flame twins" through the plant to have everybody sign them, prior to them being sealed and lacquered. From the comments by my fellow employees (including Portis Gilley, who had been there since almost the beginning!) and the looks on their faces, I am pretty sure that it was the first time that had ever happened. I do know that every now and then one of the employees would take his "brand new" speakers over to get PWK to sign them, though. I don't know "for sure", but I would guess that these were originally built for an employee, OR the purchaser was on-site and requested this happen...something like: "I want everybody involved in the making of these speakers to sign them". Who knows for sure?? If the labels have a stamp on them which says "not for re-sale" then they were MOST likely originally bought by Klipsch employees. We had to keep any speakers we bought at the employee discount (40% of MSRP back in the day) for a minimum of one-year after purchasing them, before we could re-sell them .After I had the employees sign my Heresy backs, others began to do something like that for speakers they bought, and most of them still have them.

  22. I applaud the officers for their composure in handling such a dynamic and dangerous situation. They took the fight to the bad guys and ended a situation that could have ended very differently for the public. Regarding firing through the windshield there is nothing wrong with this and most departments train to do so now. Your first few rounds are used to port a hole which allows the remainder of the rounds to fly true. There is no concern about bullets bouncing back at you. There will be some blow back from the glass but that's a minor concern given the situation. Departments are transitioning back to 9mm as a recent FBI study shows that current 9mm rounds provide nearly the same stopping power of a 45 but with the added capacity. Aaron

  23. I just ordered my new Klipsch speakers. I decided to go with two RP-280F, a RP-450C, two RP-250S, and a R-115SW. I'm super excited to join the Klipsch owners community. Im upgrading from and 8 year old Onkyo HTiB system. I bought a new Denon AVR-X4200W after buying a new Samsung 60" KS8000. I'm beyond excited to get the new speakers and start rocking out and watching some movies!

  32. I have been using very tightly rolled paper towels lately as interconnects and speaker cables with paper clips on the end of them, and they sound just fine. Oh, but I do have them raised up off of the floor on specially finished mahogany cable risers. It seems to make a difference, but I’m not sure…

  38. Loaned my house out to a friend who use to live here so he and his family could enjoy the beach. Regained possession yesterday and there was a large box in the fridge marked perishable. Opened it up and it was two boxes of See's candy from former member minermark! It was a year since his last shipment. Having a Reyka martini while LF rides her bike.

  39. I think what's going on is there is a crossover that looks to be at least partially based on an ALK design. In addition, what to do with a Klipschorn and this crossover change, the consensus was to wire it as it is now. Hoping for no smoke, it was tested and sounded like it worked. Success was proclaimed. And now here we are. There was no log recorded of any of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  40. I am also a facetor and lapidary and a rock hound. Close to me is a type of agate called Iris Agate which I have dug , sliced and polished. It has numerous lines of banding in the quartz and when they are fine enough, 8000+ per inch, it can act like a diffraction grating and when you shine light through it at the right angle this is what you get. As you move the slice up and down it shows different colors as the wavelength changes. The last piece is what it is like when not backlit.

  41. Hot switching is fine as long as it’s done under zero signal conditions (i.e. no signal to the amp input). I don’t know how the myth got started that tube amps must have a load connected at all times to prevent them from blowing up. Maynard

  42. I would start with what looks good to you, see how it sounds and move them around a little, it would be a place to start anyway. What is on the floor, if it's a hard surface maby a rug would help and like you said curtains. If it's all hard surfaces something will probably need to be added to absorb some reflections. I would start with whatever furniture that's going to be used and go from there.

  43. I actually went back and forth on this idea. But with the sub sitting flush with the front wall and being kind of built into the house I wanted it to blend in with the wall. To the average eye you wouldn’t even know the room had a sub in it. The other reason is there will be a center channel sitting in front of the sub. At this point I’m wanting to build a belle style cabinet and put a 510 horn on top. Then I can do a matching walnut beauty panel on it as well. I’m not good at interior design, but I think this would look pretty sweet. Mains, sub, and center would all have matching black grilles as well.

  44. I will be posting my initial thoughts and also a later update after I have used them for about 100+ hours. I initially debated getting two subwoofers and may still upgrade so I will update on that aspect as well. Thanks for the well wishes! #BeLoudBeProud
