Klipsch RC-64 III in their new home in the Mancave. A member of the Klipsch Owners FB page wanted an original RC-64 to put between his RF-83's. I already had both. He ordered the RC-64 III because he couldn't find an RC-64. After a few months he was not happy with the blend between the RF-83 with its 1.25" compression driver and the larger 1.75" CD of the III. He offered a straight trade and we made a deal. I put a nice Usher MTM between the RF-83's because of the way they blended. I put the III in the Mancave because the CF-4 uses a 1.75" CD. As I expected the RC-64 III and the CF-4's play nice together. It's like they were made for each other. Win-win-win. How do they sound? Believe it or not you can NOT hear any of the speakers. None! This is a bedroom size room so maybe 14x12 and all you hear is sound. It's absolutely seamless no matter where you stand or sit in the room. It's like the sound is in your ears, not from any source. Crystal clear, everywhere, all sound pressure levels. +++ Nearfield Computer Room Stuff: 3.2 setup, CF-4, RC-64 III. Dual Ultimax 15 subs driven with dual Inuke 3000dsp. Dual TV's, dual monitors.5 points

Good thing you didn't forget the windows down on the car and had a rain. If the speakers would have swelled up a little they would have been in the car permanently.4 points

Good morning all. Up and at it early this Saturday. Chores.... Hopefully I will get the KP-250s out of the back of the car and start getting them cleaned up today. Still working on the drain behind the wall I built..winter rains are coming. But first a few cups of coffee and a good breakfast are in order.4 points

OK, not Klipsch, but I also maintain a JBL room so this pertains to that space. JBL 250Ti circa 1984. The original owner passed away 10 years ago, and his son who has kept them in immaculate condition graciously allowed me to purchase them from him. He told me moving out of state and downsizing has its disadvantages, but he rarely had time to use them anyway. As some of you may know I have recently made serious efforts to obtain such a pair of speakers, and to find them within 150 miles, and in such pristine condition is unbelievable to me. They even came with very large speaker spikes added by the original owner.4 points

I have had Khorns for about 13 years now and have never really been satisfied with the Bass on them... I really only use the Khorn Bass Bins and when I first got the Khorns, I replaced the Khorn Midrange with Altec Multicell Horns. When I first got the Khorns I started tweaking the Bass Bins with Pipe Insulation on the Backs of them, so that they would 'seal' into the corners. Maybe I didn't do it right, but I was never satisfied with the Bass. About 5 years ago I upgraded to Oris Horns atop of my Khorn Bass Bins. Everything is pretty much Perfect with the Oris Horns, but the Bass was still not Doing it for me'. So, I installed Baltic Birch Plywood Backs on the Khorn Bass Bins.... Quite a Project.... Was not sure whether it helped or hurt. About a month ago, I decide to go back to the Stock Bass Bins and see what they sounded like, and then maybe start adding tweaks 1 at a time.... So I stripped off the Back Panels... The pipe insulation was already gone to facilitate the Back panels. I pushed the Khorn Bass Bins back into my Corners and fired up the tube Amps.... Holy Moly, I've got Bass Now !! Sat down and listened to a variety of Tracks and everything 'came to life'... Bass I had never heard out these Khorns before! .... I had 2 audiophile friends over and they were as blown away, as I was. I put on the Track of 'Fanfare for the common Man' by Copeland and we could not believe our ears. No need to add any tweaks or fool with the PWK Bass Design... I do have great corners with Solid Block walls one one side and 6 inch Thick MDF Panels on the other side to brace the corners....These are really quite perfect for me now.... Tweaks don't always make things better... Not for me anyway.3 points

If all you want to do is clear codes you can do a capacitive discharge. Remove BOTH cables from the battery and hold the cable ends together for maybe 15 seconds while making sure you're not touching a battery terminal. This will discharge all capacitors in every module that are used for module memory.3 points

One thing I like better than great horns is amplified, yet subtle sarcasm. Thank you for the above average dose you have given me here. My week is complete. LOL.2 points

You have no idea how wonderful that makes me feel!! All I have been yearning for is your approval. Also learning that your speakers have amazing micro detail and dynamics is a huge bonus. My daughter is playing a private party tonight but the way my luck is turning out today I plan to leave early and buy a lottery ticket or two!! Thank you for making my day special.2 points

@Emile, I found the perfect vintage system for you. Easy days worth of stock pennies. They might even have two for you. https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis94fd9-marantz-10b-home-theater?utm_campaign=Saturday_Email_20180929&utm_content=saturday_email_20180929&utm_medium=email&utm_source=zaius&zm64_id=c3Bpcml0b2ZyZXZvbHQ3NzdAeWFob28uY29t2 points

Haha it's still silly money when it goes to zero. After all, it is only a problem if you want to take that imaginary money out, pay taxes and put it in your wallet.2 points

I read once about a house with a basement full of water from a weeks worth of rain. The homeowner pumped all the water out of the basement with a huge commercial pump. The pressure from the outside soil caved a basement wall in. Hydrostatic pressure can be brutal.2 points

Well if you ever needed a job you could go into young ladies clothing department and work in sales, they all seem to try to put 2 pounds into a one pound container. Glad it all fit, it doesn't get much closer than that, and a safe trip and the wife likes them, great job. .2 points

Hello, I have a line on a local set of Klipschorns. The label says K-B-WO and the serial numbers are 6M601 and 6M602. Best I can tell these are mid-seventies. Can some one help with the definite date these were made? Thanks in advance1 point

Ah yes, another one bites the dust! Overpriced, crappy sound that can't be compared to Klipsch or any other competitor because they are EXCLUDED (not to be confused with exclusive) from any A/B demo (Bose vs. Bose only). But their HUGE marketing budgets sure propagated their name among those who think speakers should be nearly invisible (or the size of sugar cubes). Heck, I met a Hewlett Packard Engineer at a convention in San Jose, who took me back to HP Headquarters to play me a Bose system with those little sugar cubes with shitty little subwoofer. He cranked them up and said "listen to how loud you can get these things, impressive for their size, don't you think?" Since I had lived with Klipshorns for many years and was accustomed to low distortion, I was appalled at how such grossly high IM distortion could be totally undetected by my otherwise intelligent host, with me cringing at my ears being tortured by the second. I just agreed with his premise so we could leave as soon as possible. Tin ears, indeed.1 point

Emile doesn't share well... Sometime I'll have to tell you the story about what it took me to steal his cleaning lady and bring her to Ohio for a few weeks! The receiver? Onyk, Oynk! Stock market $$$? His wallet is taped tite w/purple Duck tape! Carry on! 😂1 point

Interesting. You have been complaining about those for years. I'm glad you found Nirvana (or at least close)1 point

Well, I did go from Jantzen Superior Z caps (which are very good, but nicely priced) to Jupiter VT on the primary and Auricap PPT Thetas. I shouldn't say I didn't expect to hear anything different, because I did expect that. However, the delta was not night and day, but was modest.1 point

Thanks for you offer. I had one I bought off ebay but it turned out to be reconed with a 2240 cone it was not listed as such that is why I looking for one. I am going to recone it since I have no need for a 2240 just hated to do so as it looks new. Sorry to waste your time.1 point

I don't think the passive is a big obstacle because Klipsch has done the hard work if you are just copying same box size you can buy new passives directly from Klipsch from the forte III or you can go with a passive 12" as they are very common used on eBay. I personally don't think there was a huge difference between the 12 and 15 passives both have great bass and same rated response.1 point
