  4. Hey--Welcome to the forum. If you have the wire--just make jumper wires for BOTH speakers. Some people say it sounds better than the plates anyway. But if you make jumpers for both speakers--you won't have to hunt for jumper plates.

  9. I don't need any more than a 45 w/channel amplifier for the center MEH in my setup but you could certainly put a higher power amplifier on the woofer channel if you wish. There are two 15" woofers there that are rated at least at 100 w/channel each. Remember that there are no passive crossover losses to worry about. Each amplifier in the current tri-amped setup behave like they have at least twice the output power relative to using one in monoamping mode powering all the drivers plus a passive crossover. The compression driver channels (for the dual-diaphragm BMS 4592) really don't need much power. I'm using a Crown D-75A (rated at 45 W/channel), but any 10 w/channel amplifier--or even less power--would be more than sufficient. Chris

  11. Welcome to the Klipsch forums! You have selected some outstanding speakers. I would also suggest a 15" sub or two. We have a forum member here who is also a Klipsch dealer and he has some AVR's and amps as well. His reputation for service is outstanding and it seems everyone he deals with here comes away with great pricing. He knows what works well with Klipsch, he knows what people are buying, and he will give you honest advice, even if that means suggesting something he doesn't sell but it would be best for your needs. Contact Cory, who is @MetropolisLakeOutfitters. He will see this notification the next time he logs in and I'm sure he will say hi.

  15. Hello all! I just wanted to drop in and quickly brag on Bob Crites and his crossovers and diaphragms for the tweeters. The last 36 hours have been a roller coaster with dumb events like having one un- removable screw from the front of a woofer in one of my Heresy II’s, to having to de-solder when I never even knew how to solder, solder! I just wanted to report that I was able to complete this project of changing out the crossovers and installing the diaphragms in the tweeters with the excellent help of Bob Crites. I probably emailed him about 100 times with pictures and to check in on various little items and he was more than helpful and attentive and responded immediately in every instance. Even approved of me completing one speaker without removal of that woofer since I could find no answer on how to get it out. And he had never seen a screw like that before. Anyway, this novice at all of the above, is now relaxing and listening to her quad through what sounds like La Scala’s in the rears! Well, sort of - La Scala’s are still boss in my system. I was referring to the Heresy’s, by the way. I have La Scala’s in the front. The sound from the Heresy’s has come to life! It sounded okay before, but somewhat dark and lifeless (especially compared to now) and I accepted it since they were the rears. But now I do not have to accept it. Now I get to hear even better quad sound, truly wonderful sound. The only bad thing is that I got so excited I have now ordered new speaker wire for the rears and new RCA cabling for all of the quad equipment in order to enjoy my system to the fullest! So another project is lining up! I highly recommend Bob if you are ever in need of any of his products. The customer service is unheard of in this day and age and I am grateful for it. Just thought I would pop in and share! Thanks. Laura

  17. I'd hire a staff to gather information on worthy charities, emphasizing social change for the "better," ecological reclamation, empowerment of the poor, etc. I like the MacArthur foundation's goals of "a more just, verdant, and peaceful world," except I suspect that justice is not in the skill set of our species. I'd put a few million into a family fund, and use the rest as outlined above. Oh, and an all Jube HT/musicc room.

  21. My 11 year old daughter insists on listening to Boston (last year it was Tom Petty). Quote from her this AM in the car on the way to school: "How on earth is Boston not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? And Judas Priest? It's rigged."

  23. This is precisely why I'd like to see ALL amplifiers rated in DBwatts, but it marketing departments will never let it happen. A 10 W amplifier is a 10 DBwatt amplifier. So if you add 10 DBwatts from the amp to the 112-118 db BMS driver rating, you get from 122 to 128 DB of peak, unclipped output with that 10 Watts ins a single channel. Add another 3 db for stereo, so it would be 125 to 131 db sound pressure. I guarantee, that if you listen at modern OSHA approved levels of 85 dbA sound pressure in your sweet spot, you will be down in the 10-30 milliwatt range on a K402. Electrical amplification Power is NOT the issue here.

  26. How'd you do that? If I 'caught' my girls, 15 and 14 listening to anything remotely close to that I'd fall over. They've succumbed to the 'current' music. As I did when I was their age. I promise I've exposed them to Jimi, Stones, Janis, etc. and my other rock tunes. Somewhere I lost....

  27. I ran 3 EV DH1As in my last setup with JBL 2360s, and will be running them again in a 7 channel setup of 3 K402 MEHs, and 4 small 18x10 horns. They are the best bang for your buck IMO. I have been able to pick them up for around $90-$100 a pop plus shipping on ebay. A lot of shippers jack up the shipping, but ask them if they will ship them to you in Priority mail flat rate boxes as they fit perfectly, and are much cheaper to ship. Out of 7 that I have bought, or a friend has bought none of them had any problems. These drivers are built like a tank, and last a long time!

  37. In my experience, the K-402 has sound quality properties in subjective listening that I've not heard with any other horn. This is due to its straight-sided walls and tractrix mouth which is larger than most other HF horns. The FC260 tractrix horn is a Greg Roberts product (Volti Audio) and is completely different than the K-402. The subjective listening difference in terms of room-filling capabilities of these two horns is likely to be quite large, among other differences in listening properties--with the K-402's performance eclipsing what I would consider to be a basically "home brew" Volti produced horn. The man behind the K-402 design is Roy Delgado with a career in horn loudspeaker design for the most noted company in terms of producing horn-loaded loudspeakers. I think that the difference in sound starts there with a much greater understanding of the design factors involved and much more extensive R&D of its horns. I know that the K-402 took some years develop and was a extension of the K-510 horn design. The Volti horn was a copy of a horn style that's been around since at least the 1970s and as such does not have the benefit of horn engineering knowledge that has taken place since the 1970s. I could get more technical in my description of the differences, but I believe that the bottom line is in how it sounds. If you don't first hear a K-402 before electing to lay money down for a pair of Greg R.-produced horns, I believe that you will eventually come to regret a buying decision once you do hear a pair of K-402s in a well setup room. I've owned K-402s for almost 11 years now, ten of which with TAD TD-4002 drivers, and I've not heard any other horn that produces this kind of performance. I recently helped a forum member @Delicious2 dial in his K-402s on top of Khorn bass bins with BMS 4592ND dual-diaphragm 2" drivers. You can ask him for his listening impressions. Chris

  38. I have been giving my neighbors a gift for the last 4 years. I have been the sole caretaker of the drive way (probably 12 families on the 1/2 mile long sand drive) as you may imagine a sand road needs a lot of attention. I had an 80 hp tractor that was to big to use around the house and its sole purpose was to drag a box blade or rake up and down the drive. With the recent rainfall from hurricane Florence (21 inches) the drive way was washed out on the hill. One of the neighbors works for a company with heavy equip. he worked a deal to borrow there backhoe for a day. He then borrowed a tractor with a blade from someone else. I am doing what I can to help with the washed out road. The helper and I assume his adult son pull up to me and ask me to stay off the washed out area till it dries more. The son starts cussing twords me telling me I am the reason the road is F-ed up and I should park my tractor etc...etc...etc... Now little did they know I had been questioning the intelligence of having 6000 dollars tied up in a tractor that is only good for the drive that not one of the others had ever offered a nickel to help with fuel or maintenance. and now they have the audacity to kick a gift horse in the mouth Craigslist was but a few clicks away, I get a call and within hours the tractor has a new owner, and I have cash. I took the money and told the wife we will need a 4X4 in case of road issues in the future, I found a cheap 1988 Bronco 2 rebuilt engine stick shift 4x4 with 31" tires. Needs some minor work but I have plenty of time Put some dough in the boys savings accounts........ Next my dad finds my dream truck (Almost) 1992 extended cab f-250 7.3 IDI Diesel with 144,000 miles I trade him my little gas miser car and the rest of my tractor cash. been having some fun tinkering with the pickup and the bronco Hurricane Michael came through and dropped 4 inches of rain and the ditches that I supposedly filled in with my tractor are now full of sand again, the road has some decent ruts starting and I am more than happy to drive around the problems Heres a pic of my Truck that I got today

  42. @DeanVan, Welcome to the forum. I think without a doubt the RSW-10d is worth repairing. A very musical sub that punches way above it's weight class. I have enjoyed mine for about 10 years. There is a link to a repair place that many on this forum have used. Hopefully someone will chime in soon with that link. Bill
