  3. While everything is indeed for sale, I’m going to enjoy them for a while. I’ve been working myself sick lately and just chilling with tunes is about as close to heaven as I get these days.

  5. It's horrible and normally a page long text. I've been averaging one a day but it seems to be ramping up. I do enjoy messing with them though. Normally the last line of text is something to the effect of "can we count on your support" or "can we count on your vote". I asked one texter that if I said yes would they quit texting me. Sometimes I'll ask them what they are wearing. That normally ends the conversation.

  6. Woke with a song in my head.....Dylan's Girl From the Red River Shore. Googled it and listened. A long song 7:34. Off to have an 8" rash polished out of the S2000 rear wheel😑

  9. You and I have disagreed amicably in the past and we both agree voting is important.....That said, I also hate the negative ads and I reminded my wife earlier that campaigning during and since the 2016 the rhetoric has gotten worse---I hope the old political adage "Negative Campaign Ads work," is disproven and Imo, in the Information Age that we live Words Matter and the people I am voting for are those that think before they speak.

  12. Hi All, Could not resist posting this ... I am sooo tired of all these political adds ... get 20 flyers in the mail each day ... plus at least 20 calls Of course I'm in Florida, so it's probably worse here The Senate races have spend about $90 million ... haha almost $5 per resident The political ads are 90% false (I have quit giving any contributions ... but I guess they are getting their money "everywhere" ) How do we stop this "madness?" Cheers, Emile

  16. It seems a lot of the criticism comes from people looking for a way to take politicians out of politics. I was conversing with some friends while we were vacationing in Colorado. One is from China. The subject concerned communism under Chinese rule and how the government will come and take your business away from you if they want it. At that point is when it occurred to me that that is the inherent flaw in communism. Communism doesn't account for individual talent. If, for example, a business mogul has an uncanny talent for making money, it is his gift. Not everyone has that sort of talent, though there are many other kinds of talent. The key to building national wealth is to allow the talented people to do their thing. At some point, it has to be constrained - for example, to avoid monopoly and unconscionable conduct, and also to tax them. From a government's perspective, the key is to tax them - not take them out of the game. The same goes for bankers and investors. If you take these folks out of Wall St., Wall St. will die. They are Wall St. The same goes for politicians. They serve a vital purpose. I am content to watch them duke it out. I might be critical of them, but in the end, I recognize that their presence plays a vital role in my good life.

  17. IMO, you may change who is in power, but you won't change the political corruption that is basically a glorified term for barter. Someone always wants something and are willing to trade for something else, whether a vote or compensation. Always been there and always will be. As far as news goes, I think its all 90% cake frosting and 10% cake and thats no matter who you watch or listen to. The modern info wars go and how no one can escape them, we are learning that all these upper politicians, musicians, socialites and actors are the same idiots we have living down the street, but just have money and think they have superior view or agenda.

  18. I can be a bit of an idealist at times but I do believe there is a way to pull corporate spending out of our elections, I am just not smart enough to figure that out😬

  20. @Dave1290 I've got one of those ugly green ones, Ted's "Free for All" replacement from last year. A matte white LP, couple of clears and two different shades of yellow. That dark red just looks like a jewel to me. Been decades since I've partaken but I still travel to different planes with some excellent sounding music sometimes!

  21. I, like half the population, find political ads a great source for alternate facts. You can't believe what politicians do, just believe what they say. Truth isn't Truth. Keith

  27. Yea, the white boy's were good enough to walk into Berry Gordy's Motown office and lay down one helluva LP. Even talked him into their own label while they were at it. Rare Earth was born in 1969 and this is truly one great LP. From a bluesy "Tobacco Road" to an entire B side of "Get Ready!" If you don't have it??? Do yourself a favor cause it WILL kick your rear!

  30. Ha! I actually had this reputation back in the 90's and early 2000s when folks would joke that I would invite Jehovah's Witness in and I would inform them about the Dead Sea Scrolls and modern interpretation. Yep. Those were the days.

  34. ^^^^^ === yeah, we voted today. Parking lot was packed but plenty of machines, took about 30-40 minutes. I “resisted” the urge to whine and moan about the wait but that does seem to be what is “trending” these days.

  37. I early voted today. The group of nice ladies who have done this for a hundred years were there, as usual. They recognized me and called me by name. It took me about 5 minutes to vote. I voted for a US Senator, a couple of state supreme court judges (all of the WV Supremes got impeached a few months ago), a couple of constitutional amendments and a school levy. +++ Each of our US Senate candidates are accusing the other of either causing the opioid epidemic (a big problem in WV these days) or profiting by it. Yes I'm ready for the political mud slinging ads to stop. 💩

  38. === “how can we stop the madness”? That’s pretty funny. That horse is so far out and away from the barn to never be seen again. The very ones running for office would be the ones voting to curtail election spending. The same ones who say they will vote for term limitations. Yeah, right. This system is now so frustratingly broken - I guess we live with the monster we somehow created —
