  1. Glad you're drying out Carl.....been worrying about you. Actually thought about putting together an "intervention" at the Pilgrimage but couldn't find anyone sober to help.

  5. Looks like fingernail polish too. Don't know if it is the actual color that they used to put the laquer plus four coats of clear on the hot rods. But it literally looked like those cinnamon discs to me when I saw it! That s&it is not cheapo acrylic paint!!

  6. Eldon, you need some of this, much better than sand. It will last a long time.....https://www.hcconcrete.com/product/sharkgrip/

  7. Never tried that but a good bit of acid etching and sealing with clear, very tough and permanent. . The only problem I had was the last thing I did was a 12' x 12' porch and a 12'x 15' room, the clear only came in 5 gallons so I just put many coats on both and it ended up as slippery as ice. I thought the slickness would wear off kind of quickly so I didn't add any sand for traction, I was wrong, it took months for it to even get a little better. Inside it wasn't so bad but the porch was dangerous if your shoos were even slightly damp. But I love the stuff, extremely tough and easy to work with, the clear dries in about 15 minutes and you can coat again, it applies with a normal roller and easily goes on and levels out perfectly, but does stink when drying.

  8. Finishing first coffee... sometimes it's only one pot, not today. Reading the news sans paper came across this, car guys check out this spectacular paint job on the hood of a movie car. Looks like glass or giant cinnamon hard candy. Candy Apple Red in its truest form! https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/17/business/media/paramount-pictures.html

  10. Mmmmmm, hot water. It's official I'm losing it. Got up went through my usual morning routine. Grind the beans put, water in the coffee pot, take some pills, let the dog outside while the coffee starts to brew. Corral the dog back inside. Clean his feet. Give him a treat. Walked back in the kitchen saw the pot was finished went to grab a cup.....I never put the coffee in the filter.😡

  14. I won't.. hope ya know I was chuckling when I did that. Only jesting with you bud & knew you would recognize it! So perfectly clean first one out of the box. Just like the regular copy I bought new last year except that half-speed goodness with the improved frequency range playback makes it sound even better. Won't post all as I play them but it will keep me busy for a while.

  18. Until I got caught up in this thread. I had only heard the term “tuba subwoofer”. I knew nothing about them. It seems like a build I can pull off without a huge investment. I hadn’t considered anything thing beyond the wood, driver & amp. I do not have a DSP of any sort. Apologies to the OP, as my intention wasn’t to hijack the thread. Thanks for the input though. I suppose I should start another thread once I’m underway. I’ll look forward to advice from someone with more skill than myself. I’ll tag you once I get started. Maybe even before I start. would be a better idea.

  22. Foreigners aren't allowed to own land in the Philippines, but they van own buildings. My wife holds dual citizenship, so we should be ok. There are a lot of nice areas there and tons of expats. We are actually looking to be away from some of those areas. Looking at an area with a town of around 150k population with three universities, decent infrastructure and airport. Ferry service to Cebu ath other locations.

  25. So, what to do with the last of the chili? Enchilada time! Cheese and onion with the last of the batch on top. But then you have no chili! Time to make more... Different, purist approach this time. No tomatoes in the room. This is half New Mexico chilies and half Mexican arbol. Stewed together until the liquid is just enough to make a spaghetti sauce consistency when liquefied in a blender. That was then extracted through the centrifugal juicer to get the pure chili base. Onions, garlic, comino and meat ground with my grandmother's Keystone 20 hand grinder with the coarsest blade...1/3 pork, 2/3 round steak. Simmered an hour or two after browning, then left out overnight to "tighten" outside. Took the grease off this morning and added about a cup of water with four spoons of masa. Simmered 30 minutes and the house smells divine! Looking forward to supper. Cooked a pot of pintos last night and had a bowl for supper. Chili by itself tonight, then probably with some beans on Saturday for variety. Dave

  27. I'm sure they told you that if the atmospheric conditions weren't right they'd have to reschedule. Dew point was a big deal with the two part coatings I used in the 90s in FL, do not know if that could be different now. The self-leveling epoxies and urethanes are fascinating to work with.

  28. In Wisconsin (and I'm sure other places) a lot of the cheese manufacturers have the concrete floors with a top layer of concrete and a polymer of some kind. If you ever need to get through the floor it is really, really hard. Bruce

  32. At my house, I am the snow thrower. +++ I had not heard about this storm. Thanks for the heads-up. Usually it doesn't matter to me because no matter what the weather is I have to go out in it anyway. I have to admit though, in my later years although I can go out in bad weather I've finally figured out there is no percentage in doing so. Now I just hit the grocery store early, stay indoors and wait for a better day. Edit: I just saw on the Weather Channel and I am just south of the heavy storm predictions. I can look for 1-3 inches of snow this weekend.

  33. I've seen that too, on some painted floors... except when I pulled up the carpet in the den, it appeared the original house construction crew felt it necessary to apply texture and latex everywhere lol... I got it all off before the wood floor people showed up...

  37. Famous for? The Klipschorn used to have a double hump, affectionately known to San Francisco Klipsch fans as "Twin Peaks," between 100 and 250 Hz, approximately. These two peaks were reduced by the AK4 (c. 2002?) and later balancing networks. It may have happened a bit earlier. I haven't run any curves since 2011, when everything went to hell in a basket (my mic preamp stopped working right, then there was a computer crash). I'm sure others have some they can contribute. Reducing the Belle resonance was strictly by ear. Below we have a Klipschorn curve, taken from just one mic position (a "no-no" when measuring in a real room, I'm told). There is a minor peak just above 100 Hz, maybe 2.75 dB or so. Given that I cross the Khorns over to the subwoofer at 80 Hz, I decided to not try to fix the truly big peak at 43 Hz. Guess what, the sub had a peak in just the same place and of about the same magnitude. The only peak I hear from the Klipschorns above the 80 Hz Xover is the one at about 375 to 575 Hz. I rarely notice it. When I do, it doesn't sound like resonating wood at all, it merely sounds like a bit of overemphasis, and is as clean as can be. I wish I had distortion graphs. Maybe someone else has. I understand they might be possible with REW, but I never got into it. I have some distortion figures, filched from others. Some of the below came from Don B. Keele, Jr. and some from reading Heyser's graphs. Speakers IM distortion at 105dB (reference level peaks) Harmonic distortion at 105dB (reference level peaks) Klipschorn 1.75% 0.25% AR 4-way AR 98RS 2.7% (1.54XKH) Audible ~3% (~12XKH) Audible Fried Studio 4 10% (5.71XKH) Audible & Annoying 4% (16XKH) Audible Platinum Studio 2 7% (4XKH) Audible and Annoying 1.9% (7.6XKH) Audible Since the mic preamp failure, I haven't been able to brew up enough enthusiasm to start measuring again. My ears are happy now, so I think I can resist the temptation.

  44. Ah Mike 😧 You asked, but I can't completely refrain You dis' my faves, with nonchalant disdain I won't disparage what doesn't light my fire But of wind and wuthering I do tire You asked but then you do the same: It was an April morning when they told us we should go As I turn to you, you smiled at me How could we say no? With all the fun to have, to live the dreams we always had Oh, the songs to sing, when we at last return again Sending off a glancing kiss, to those who claim they know Below the streets that steam and hiss, The devil's in his hole Oh to sail away, To sandy lands and other days Oh to touch the dream, Hides inside and never seen. Into the sun the south the north, at last the birds have flown The shackles of commitment fell, In pieces on the ground Oh to ride the wind, To tread the air above the din Oh to laugh aloud, Dancing as we fought the crowd To seek the man whose pointing hand, The giant step unfolds With guidance from the curving path, That churns up into stone If one bell should ring, in celebration for a king So fast the heart should beat, As proud the head with heavy feet. Days went by when you and I, bathed in eternal summers glow As far away and distant, Our mutual child did grow Oh the sweet refrain, Soothes the soul and calms the pain Oh Albion remains, sleeping now to rise again Wandering wandering, What place to rest the search The mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth The mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth From the earth... I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way (X2) Oh the mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth.

  47. I'm no stranger to making " traditional " chili , with or without beans . But chili verde is my favorite . Roasted poblano , jalapeño and serrano peppers seeded and about to go for a spin . And roasted tomatillos , garlic and cilantro after a spin . Combine and add ground pork , onions and cumin . This is one of my staples in the fridge and is great as a slow cooking sauce for pork rib meat minus the ground pork .
