  1. That's not cash. Just some stuff he is "holding for a friend."

  2. I wondered the same thing, why are families going to a food bank after missing one week's pay. We're only seeing what the media thinks we need to see. The guy that saves part of his paycheck to provide for his family in time of need isn't very newsworthy. Sensationalism.....pays the bills.

Good live show on the double LP but "Dreamboat Annie" just nailed it! About 3 months ago I had a song w/a woodblock workin in my head thinking it was Fleetwood Mac.... Nooooope... "White Lightning & Wine!" Whew! Hate it when that happens!

  8. Just made a 1000 mi. round trip last weekend to pick up some Khorns Jim had taken his time to look at for me. Stopped by to meet Jim and enjoy his system. He is a very nice man and very meticulous. These will make someone very happy. Good luck with your sale Jim!

  10. @jimjimbo @Arrow#422 Mission accomplished. They will need a little cleaning up, rebuild the crossovers, a little tung oil, etc. The original owner confirmed that he bought these in Germany, the first thing his wife and he purchased for their new digs in country. @wvu80 Can you add this to your price tracking spreadsheet? Jim, I think these qualify for super clean status (provided you overlook the small amount of cat fur in the grilles...)

  12. Went to a yard sale (Bar going out of Business) They had 10-15 Boxes of Vinyl they wanted 100.00 for the Lot, I did a quick perusal and bought them. Got them home and looking through them there was a lot of big band but I had seen a few Classic Rock. Turns out the 1 peach crate with the Classic Rock was the ONLY crate that took moisture damage and every LP in the crate the Jackets were stuck together and molded. I pulled the Vinyl out and Burnt the covers sleeves What I did was take a paint edger (https://www.lowes.com/pd/SHUR-LINE-Edger-Pro/50369766?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-Paint-_-Applicators-_-50369766:SHUR-LINE&CAWELAID=&kpid=50369766&CAGPSPN=pla&store_code=2564&k_clickID=go_625682584_34615005790_111134768230_aud-431535000620:pla-261161108388_c_9010038&gclid=CjwKCAiAsoviBRAoEiwATm8OYLmrLk7uW0FcBuis57seHU-gR4rdDq--l8B1Uilrc5EfgdfqIek3hBoCfTAQAvD_BwE) I lay a bath towel on the counter then lay 2 filthy LP on the towel get the Paint Edger damp and apply some dish detergent directly to the edger. Take the Edger and SCRUB the Vinyl (The edger automatically follows the Grooves with its 100's of little bristles) Flip the LP and Repeat. If the center label had mold mildew I would lightly swipe it once with the edger. Now I lightly ran tap water (We have a Well, so no county / city additives to the water) over each side of the LP (Including the label) place them in a dish strainer. I continued this Process till the dish strainer was full (Approx. 15 LP) Next I take the LP out of the strainer 1 at a time, Fold the Towel so the dry half is up, Place the somewhat dry LP on the towel, Take a micro Fiber cloth and gently polish in a circular motion following the grooves again, Flip & Repeat. Next I place the dry LP on my VPI 16.5 and clean it with home made solution Put the Vinyl that was minutes ago Molded with the paper sleeve stuck to it on the EAT C Sharp with Grado cart and so far (Approx 20) Without fail EVERY lp I have cleaned in this manner Plays through absolutely as New with VERY VERY Little background noise, They seriously sound quieter than many new Lp I have heard and own I ended up with 99 LP like this, I bought some inner sleeves and am storing them in this manner so far I plan to put those inner sleeves in some of the poly outer sleeves with a 12" X 12" Piece of heavy card stock to write the title on. for ease of finding the LP when I wish to play hear it I know for fact I have tossed many an LP in the past for this exact reason (Mold / Mildew) Never again though they loose the value of the jacket it is a cheap A$$ way to end up with some mighty fine playable copies of great music Thought someone else might find this of use. Happy Listening

  14. The sound quality of Zappa's material... Is excellent either on vinyl or CD Zappa pokes fun... On everything.... Don't take his lyrics to seriously.. But he points out the extreme... That everyone believes in... On a highly intellectual level...

  15. So... me and Zappa.... I've heard a couple many times but most never... and I remember having that one played for me years ago by a big fan of his... just `cause of my name? Believe that one is of an experimental nature? Or a possible lifestyle!

  22. Got me this a few days ago on a trade. Hey, if I'm not spending money right now on audio gear, it can't bother her I figure right? It's an older KPT 884 SW. Will get a new coat of Duratex when I get around to it and I'm toying with the idea of a driver swap in it with something more modern. Compliments the 396s quite well right now I must say.

  23. In the real world we all live in once the recording has been distributed to us the listener there is no way to accurately reproduce it because the equipment/process chain involved in its production isn’t equivalent to the equipment/process chain involved in its reproduction that we listen to in our home. IMHO the worst and most pervasive problems with our listening to recordings is loss of tonal reproduction realism due to a large percent of the fact of the equipment/ process chain differences mentioned previously. Once your free of the mind trap (That accurate reproduction of a recording is even possible with today’s method) you open yourself up to the possibility of a much more emotionally involving experience by the use of well designed and properly implemented Tone Controls and Equalizers in our system. miketn

Especially at around 5 min in and then 24... awesome jam🔌 🔈 🔉 🔊 Easy to see how the rumors that Jimi had reincarnated into Francesco were spread. 27. It reminds me of the aneonic chamber in Hope. My daughter even commented the same thing. Once the walls get up that should go away. Right now you can shout in there and the sound just disappears.

  32. Never said single parents have to be men or women, never said folks can't be good at be single parents. But what was your living situation, income, daycare? I was a single parent too. Living situation: we were living check to check when she left me and our three children. I was 27, my son had just turned 4 and my twin daughters were 2...and 2 lol. We were not. Rented a house, had a mini van and a 2 door car (280ZX Turbo, had to have it). Both were paid for because I wasn't living beyond what I could stand. Telling us to be prepared would have been a waste of time. We were married and did what animals do. I was one broke puppy for a few years. Kids are expensive and so was the ex...who took the washer and dryer when she left. It took a while, but I did without and provided for them. Saved enough to put myself into college and still provide for 3 others who ate more and needed larger cloths after a while. Other than my dad buying me a washer and dryer, that I still use, not one time did I apply for or receive any assistance. That was in 1993, the last two graduated and got out in 2010. They are doing great and none are needing any assistance.... And I can now afford Klipsch Belle.

  34. The average family of four household income varies by regions in the US, 45 k-75 k ( as of 2016). Accounting for taxes, and after all monthly expenditures, they have only their retirement, hopefully funding it monthly, to fall back on, and hardly anything left in terms of savings. so yes, sadly, paycheck to paycheck applies to a majority of households in this country. Sad but true. Life has become more expensive over the decades, mainly b/c of new technologies we can not live w/o ( or so we think). Very few people are financially responsible enough to save, beyond their monthly retirement pre tax retirement accounts saving. The mentality has changed, more slogans like "YOLO" make people " live the moment", and don't think of saving their pennies for a rainy day. Hope this situation, as sad as it is, will impact people's financial future behavior and planning. Thoughts and prayers to those workers affected by this crisis.

  35. Some of this is coming from Google, so take it how you want. Say a TSA agent makes 38k a year. After all taxes, they may have 22-26k leftover. Say your single person, after rent (which $900 would be good around here), your with about $1200 left over a month for anything else (food, gas, insurance, any utilities, etc.). Not bad for a single person, but what about single parent? throw day care in there and forget about any funds left over, your off to the food bank. Kind of hard to save and prepare.

  38. Sure does, before trimming it looks like the inside of an igloo, going to be the coolest room in the house. The whole inside of the attic ceiling would help alot, except for the price. Sure will, and much more dead to sound escaping I would think. You just slightly changed the tune on your IB sub. How is the smell ?
