  1. A "cabin" is a step in the right direction. There was an 8 X 24 travel trailer in the middle of the place. I reduced it to being the "floor in the bedroom". And, yeah. it does look like a cabin. It all wood. Redwood on the walls. Wood/bamboo floors. Fireplace for heat. Cabin, it is. Still rough, though.

  2. These were very flavorful, if anything too sweet, I said you could put it on a snowball. The clear is very smooth also, no need to drink anything after tasting, very smooth and that can be a problem if you don't control yourself. It kind of reminds me of Carl's martinis, all alcohol but the taste can fool you into not realizing how strong they can be. .

  3. Tried some moonshine last week, Pineapple, Peach, Strawberry, and cherry. To me, the peach was the best but they were all really good, especially after a few rounds of each around the table. But they didn't have a fancy label, none really just mason jars, Arkansas style. .

  4. YES it positively does. I can still press 262............when I fall and have to push my butt back up, and it's slow and hurts a little and I tend to make a few noises.

  8. They must have been the genuine article. Was taught down here to chase shine with a beer. Tasted liked the way to do it. Like to know my contributors, best found out was Alabama, and Tennessee, with some Florida thrown in...good stuff baby...made me wonder if Grannie was right. Think so cause Jethro was in space...farm out... Edit: A couple or 3 or four swallows and, I was no fittin' for the road although, I somehow found it.

  9. Nothing wrong with a cabin, we have a barn. It started out as a pole barn and we changed plans halfway through, it's not too cold or hot and it does not rain in.

  10. sounds like tequila. After the first 2 or 3, it starts to taste good. lol Chuck. Looks cold Work commences on our "cabin" as the wife's aunt so politely called this place.. tomorrow. Hope to some real improvements after this cosmetic crapola. I would love to get the kitchen and bath finished. I have cookware that hasn't seen light of day in 7 years. And dishes. You would think we don't have. I have 2 generations of cookware and dishes. A set of Lennox in IN, still.

I've got one K600 horn - a heavy casting - were all K600 made that way? Also in my Klipsch stuff, I've a pair of K260 - wonder how one would work with K55V and a 1" to 2" adaptor - ?

  20. It's amazing what cameras can do today, even 10-12 years ago people would have thought you were crazy talking about an ISO of 20K. The main thing is you got a good picture, a tiny bit of grain is nothing when you can get a picture like that. Cool pictures everyone. Was in Hope at Rodney's which is in the middle of nowhere, and it was after a cold front with clear dry air and very dark. I brought the camera and tripod predicting nice star pictures but when it all came down to it I was too tired and it was in the low 20's, I was too tired to even drag the camera out. Another guy working with us (Craig S) did bring out his camera and set it up for some Milkyway pictures, he did well and got some really nice shots. Now that I am home and little rested I regret not trying to get a pic, I have been lazy with the pictures and need to get off my but. But I can't lie, I was worn out every night last week.

  23. That sounds like NO fun at all, I would guess OSB is heavier than plywood, well it feels like it anyway, MDF is positively heavier. Probably much more expensive than when I got it 20+ years ago for $3.99 a sheet for 1/2" or 5/8" I can't remember which. .

  24. First post here as a new Klipsch owner. I am working on upgrading my home theater setup and just purchased a pair of RP-150m speakers. I am wanting to get a new speaker that matches these and have a question. I have a somewhat limited space for the center channel in an average sized room . The RP-400c would fit perfectly in my space, would this match up well with the RP-150m? I could potentially bump up to the RP-500c (or a 250c if I could find it), however, that would force me to move my amp to a different location which I do not prefer to do. Basically, will there be a major sound difference between the 4" and 5.25" center channel matched with the rest of my setup? I have an old cheap sub (will be upgrading that next) so I am hopeful the smaller center will match well with the sub providing a little more low end. Thanks for any input

  25. Well, when I had a pair of speakers similar to Claude, I use to power them with a Classe CA-150 (150wpc @ 8ohm, 300 @ 4ohm) on the bass bins and then a Triode Labs 2A3 SET (3-4wpc) on the K402s... This was in a 15ft x 20ft room.

  26. This is what I used on my Jubes with TADs on K-402's.......................Nobsound Mini Digital Amplifiers TPA3116, which was cheaper and less power than the one shown on the bottom here. Same 19v. laptop power supply. when you have 106-110 db/Watt efficiency in speaker, You get much higher noise from High Power amplifiers like the Crown K2 vs. these little dudes! Even at worse case power output of ONLY 30 Watts per channel in the amps, you have 4 channels working for you...........so That's 120 UNCLIPPED Watts or 20.7 dbWatts added to the 106 worst case efficiency of the Jube Bass bin (less on the K-402's 110 db/W drivers). So 106 + 20.7 = 126.7 db at 1 meter, which is about 120 db in a small room at the sweet spot. If you need to play things louder than this, you are destroying you hearing and most people will run out of the room when you reach this level. I have only done so a few times on really good recordings of live DRUMS and people were amazed that all I used were these inexpensive little amplifiers!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-19V-3-42A-Power-Adapter-Universal-Power-Supply-Charger-Input-100-240V-50-60Hz-/272072625959? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nobsound-Mini-Digital-Amplifier-TPA3116-HiFi-Power-Stereo-Amp-Black-100W-2/263235435782?epid=2270424656&hash=item3d4a0dfd06:g:xg8AAOSwE1tcYbEL Excuse the black gaffer tape, as it's the quickest way to prevent people from turning the knobs, once their gain is set. The volume control is on the Yamaha Pre Pro. These little amps were all I needed to blow people away. It's kind of an F. You to expensive amps when you own Jubes!!

  27. Here's a schematic... I left off the 200ohm/polyswitch protection on HF After another look it does appear that the board has more allowance for variation than I originally thought but all configurations would remain 2nd order for both HF & LF.

  30. I recently purchased the Node 2i. Currently using the RCA outs to Parasound P6 and Rotel power amp. Is a definate upgrade over my Marantz SR7012 internal DAC and the Bluesound OS is super easy to use. I highly recommend it.

  34. For clarification of the networks for sale: Yes it could work with a 3 way Jube from Klipsch as pictured above. XO points 400Hz and ~6000Hz. You need an active outboard EQ like Mark is explaining. You need an 8 or 16 ohm mids. Doesn't have to be stock Klipsch driver. You need an 8 ohm tweeter. YOU NEED a tweeter attenuator. Doesn't have to be stock Klipsch driver. This network can work for a variety of setups. The mid could be a 1" or 2" driver on whatever horn....doesn't matter as long as the FR is covered by the XO points mentioned above. Tweeter options are many as well as long as 8 ohm. Crites, Klipsch, Fastlane, Eminence, Beyma, etc. Make sure the tweeter is rated at 104dB or greater to keep up with the bass bin.

  38. It's some chewy food for thought, for sure. Anyone offering a shallow slope, "phase focused" passive two way networks for Jubs yet? Could it be done without the complexity that Danley came up with? I've been toying with the idea of doing some Chris style 402 based MEH, but would probably be more inclined if it could be done passively. Until the budget allows, I'll just have to get my phase correct listening via TB full rangers, or suffer through that horrid phase distortion with my fortes (to their credit, Klipsch heritage three ways push the troublesome crossover frequencies outside our hearing's most sensitive band, which has gotta help somewhat).
    1 point
  39. The answer is that it does not matter what Klipsch mid and tweeter drivers are used. The networks are for any 8 or 16 ohm mid driver and tweeter, and have 10 ohm swamping resistors for each driver to support this design characteristic. This set of networks with a decent 31 band analog EQ is all you need.

  40. I always consider, and have used, what it takes to achieve the same whatever regardless of what one paid originally. If I had something of gold I'd had for 50 years, I would list the current price of gold as the replacement value. Anything less would not replace it. So, seems to me the minimum would be whatever is required to meet the same specs or to acquire KG4s from the used market in equivalent condition. Dave

  41. I signed up to ask this exact question. The 404 vs the 504 to go with my RP-8000Fs. I really could only fit a 404 right now, but how much am I missing out vs the 504?

  45. Ah, but you see, the shims of which I "spoke" can be cut down to ~25mm squares, as you'll surely need different thickness at each corner. But if you're intent on raising the boxes you can use the butcher-blocks and tear off matchbook covers to fill the gaps as needed at the corners to achieve plumb enclosures. Better yet, break out the precision level, determine the various differences required, and have your cabinetmaker fashion substitute bases (which simply screw onto the cabinet bottoms).

  46. Today I was able to put a check mark next to another pair of Klipsch speakers I’ve wanted to own for some time, RB-75s in Cherry. I have them on LaScalla IIs I bought last Aug but didn’t get hooked up until January. Ironically both sets of speakers came from vegas, RB-75s from Travis5454 and LaScallas from Schu. Both transactions were as smooth as could be. powering them with a NAD 390(bought in Dec) with Tidal HiFi playing through a Apple TV via HDMI(using QuietHollow’s recommendation). Also using a RT-10D sub. Very happy with the cost vs performance of my setup.

  47. I'll toss in a thank you as well. I spent a lot of time a year or so ago reading and re-reading Bill Waslo's pages on his synergy horns. Chris recommended them again and some things are starting to make sense. Chris makes it easier to understand... and I've shared some of my own thoughts with him. I have a long way to go, but I'm in for the concept no matter what. Bruce
