  3. OK Bill ... I stand corrected Reading through this I was about to say something but was beaten to it. One thing I can say and any moderator can challenge this. Moderators are not asked or told to do anything like that in any way. When some people insist on continuing with some silly conspiracy theories which most would know is not true either prove it or stop being silly. To be perfectly honest we are not told anything outside of the terms everybody should have read when signing up. Also as I got to know how Klipsch works from seeing enough of it over the years, you can forget any overall weird intentions to trick people. As much as I hate to say it, it takes all there time just keeping things going and fixing things that pop up with general business operations, I doubt they could promote a good hoax if they wanted to. Honestly, it seems like it is run like a family business that grew almost faster than they can keep up with. About the only thing that bothers them a little is when people start changing parts and automatically call it an upgrade because it sounds different. This is all just my opinion from everything I have seen. And they do appreciate this form and fans and listen when they can, problem and mistake-free, of course not, like any other business, but they really do try. .

  6. Far Out Man, and good for him too. To have Mike Oldfield working with him on this and the guys with Floyd helping... that's a good story. If I had some of what @dirtmudd found in the streets once or still smoked that wacky-weed I could listen to that over and over!

  9. Cabinet assembly is complete and it is functional, with no obvious air leaks. I’m still Deciding on finishing options. I’m not going black, I’d never get that nice shiny lacquer that @CECAA850 had on the one he built. Straight Tung Oil, or Danish oil over the Baltic Birch mostly works and is easy; veneer has a high WAF and my hope is to get this in the family room, so that makes the most sense, except I’d like to keep the cost down. Anyway here is a pic of its current state.

  14. What you did is really the smart way, and cheaper. Find or ask around for some inexpensive DIY sub plans, it will make your LaScalas be truly full range. I was in Hope for a week so I may have missed it, how was your trip?

  15. Less than two years old. Cranked up a couple of time but honestly the potentiometer on my 80 wpc amp is usually between 9am and 11am in usage. I've matured enough to know not to abuse speakers over the years ! Got these in early July 2017, so the sns are low for the run made xxxx27 & 28. Much more bass than my Heresy II offered, exceptional imaging courtesy of @Chief bonehead . Inquire anywhere, these produce very good sound. I have all original packaging that they arrived with, plus an extra set of the lambswool grills. $2800 Or Best Offer - listen then pick up in South Charlotte They could/did ship well in the packaging they came in. https://www.klipsch.com/products/forte-iii-special-edition-california-black-walnut The look of the wood grain varies and shimmers with the angle of the light and the angle that you're viewing the speaker from. Cool Veneer!

  18. I just ordered an Onkyo A-9110 integrated amp for a second system. It is only rated at 30 watts per channel A/B into 8 ohms, 50 into 4. It’s all analog, no digital inputs which I personally prefer. I have a very good DAC. Four line level inputs, MM phono stage, tape out, and fixed subwoofer out. It also boasts a modern loudness circuit and tone defeat for the purists. For a tick under 300 clams and 30 day satisfaction guarantee I figured, why not try it? My Heresy III’s are on order, hoping they will be here today. I will certainly try the Onkyo with them and report back.

  19. Tube from a paper towel holder did the job! Tweeters are not dead. Thank you for your advises. My setup is probably too weak to reproduce all frequencies diapason. I am going to work in this direction also will move crossovers on a separate board and recap capacitors. The more I listen Heresy, the more I like it.

  22. INMHO you can never have enough clean power, especially one with a large torrid transformer with large power reserves. Your volume control should take care of over-driving the speakers, if your ears last that long. Regards, John

  25. Sounds like a great album. I put it on my list so we'll see what we can find out there. Read the Wiki and it triggered something but dunno what... Yet. Something to ponder on. Maybe I'm having another vision or something... Ugh. Just hit soft parade but that was the Doors... Maybe that's it.. lol Quit it! lol I have heard of him though. I'm stumped now... Sounds so familiar in places... Piano in the second track... Now I've got to sit here and listen to it all... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! 😂 😂 😂

  27. I have to admit to looking in on it. I am still gaining appreciation for these LS. I was "deprived" of working thru a half dozen set of speakers to get to where I am. I can't say I wouldn't like to have a bass to 20hz.. But that horn would rather imposing. I been following the super MWM thread, too

  29. @Emile Thank You sir, Hooked up an SVS2000 for a few days... bass was awesome down to 18 or 19hz I think? But the sound did not "match" the good Forte bass sound.

  30. Haha ... yes; have a set of (cheaper) Forte I's and the bass is good, but ??? Just bought some JBL 18" bass bins ... 30HZ ... so far so good ... but they do require "pro power." Good luck with the sale ... they look awesome

  31. The manual is available at HiFi Engine from the link in Emile's first post. That's how I knew it has +/- 37 volt rails.

  32. I'm not saying that. But they give no other input spec? Like headroom above 2 volts? How do you know you are clipping its input? Is this it? https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-2x4?lang=en&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9-_n17mC4QIVZCCtBh0G6wX4EAQYAiABEgL79PD_BwE

  33. Might want to use a light stain in an inconspicuous place if you're looking to match the LaScala's, the oil by itself might not be quite dark enough, hard to tell. I say this because I had some B Birch that stayed very light at first, had to mix some stains to try to get where I wanted and it still didn't come out as I wanted. Looks good, you did a nice job and should sound great with your mains. .

  34. I assume the 20 volt preamp output would be for a current amplifier instead of a voltage amplifier.

  39. Thanks. I got to practice over 35+ years of an engineering career (including ~7 years adjunct teaching graduate students), so perhaps it's more about elbow grease than talent. Doing audio for the past 5-10 years has definitely sharpened the skills. Chris

  42. You can get much lower cleaner bass with a far smaller cabinet as they are designed for venues. But if you don't mind coffin sized cabinets in your living room go for it. I use two of these in my 9.2 all Heritage HT and I have NO shortage of super clean low bass.

  44. I finished the setup of the new K-horns, and all connected, using as a first try my Prima Luna Dialogue HP I/A. I fired the system up, let it warm up for 30 min, in triode mode, and started playing Chris Stapleton, Whiskey and you.... When I first heard the music, (my first ever with Klipschorns, (aka klipschorns virgin), MY HEART SKIPPED FOR FEW SECONDS,... OMG.....I was speechless,... wow...wow, was all I could say. I was not prepared for that. I own LS II's, CW III's, Heresy's III, Forte II's & III's, and have owned Chorus II,..and still I could not get over the sound,... I sat down and listened to all genres of music for 2 straight hours, they went by fast, much needed r/r after a long weekend at work. Who cares about Superbowl !. For now I am keeping the P/L in the system. Next the MA5300 in a week or two.
