  2. Alright here is the story with these. I have had a set of 510 horns for some time now so I started accumulating parts to make a bastard set of 904’s. Here is the breakdown K510 B&C De75 compression drivers (These have a EAW label on them but they are indeed B&C DE75’s) KPT-904 LF cabs KPT-904 crossovers (New) no brackets included. These stomp most everything in the consumer line. I will put a fresh coat of black duratex on them for you before delivery. I’m located in Murfreesboro just outside of Hope so if your coming to the festivities this weekend here is your chance to snag a pair. Price is set at 1375.00.

  5. Sorry, meant to say hornswoggled. If he has been looking for five years, you did him a great service. Those are in much better shape than the one's I ended up with. Enjoyed every minute of bringing them back to life and still enjoy them.

  6. I thought the reference series speakers deserved some real wood finish, so I bought these fairly inexpensively with some minor cabinet damage and scratches. I removed the vinyl veneer and re- veneered them in waterfall bubinga. I am pretty happy with how they turned out.

  11. I rode for a lot of years (past tense) and beauty, or sound, is in the eye or ear of the beholder. Every sound will be pleasing to some and offensive to others and as with life, the extremists on one side or the other, will have a basis for an argument. I try to keep my music levels under offensive (understanding that's my definition and boundaries) most all of the time, but I piss people off that their level of tolerance is silence. That said, when I was 16 rolling in my 69 Chevelle SS with a worked 396, hooker headers, thrush cherry bombs and bells at the end, it brought a really big grin when I could downshift into second, coming off the mountain and into town, letting it roll up to about 6000 rpm's and watch the porch lights come on, all the way down the street, but I was 16 and wouldn't do that today. (That's a lie, I still would, but not nearly as often, and now I live in Ohio, and it's pretty darn flat) LMAO. My last 2 wheel ride was a BMW K1 and I never changed the factory exhaust on it and it was pretty quiet, but the CBX prior to that, not so much. Looking to get back into riding, but I'll go adventure bike this time and go with a Beemer R series. Always wanted one and makes a great bug out bike for the zombie apocalypse.

  13. SOLD ---- SOLD Selling my McIntosh MC250 2 channel power amplifier. It is in excellent condition, and has the wonderful warm vintage McIntosh sound. Very "tube" like. It has been powering a pair of Klipsch Chorus IIs in my dedicated listening room. It has had a full restore / complete audio path recap by the famed McIntosh Authorized Terry Dewick. His current backlog for work is over 120 days per his website. This amplifier is fully restored and will be plug and play for many, many years to come. The body is also in awesome condition for a vintage amplifier. I prefer a local sale, but I do have a double padded box that this amplifier can be safely shipped in. The amplifier is still in the listening room and can be demoed at any time. Located in Amana, Zip code 52203. I am looking for 1050 plus shipping. Thank you,

  14. Hate it for you Bill. Had the experience of things being awful to worse for four years, to the point of finality. Be nice to your filter... it can hurt you. Hope for you that the improvements are great after this "phase" of recovery. That air cast sounds nice... a lot better than a frozen bag of corn or peas! Can you hear the track noise form where you live? North side of town here the noise travels about ten or so miles, that's thirty miles from here. The Z-Max strip I've heard from I-85 at 70mph driving through one Sat. morning. *Actually going up hwy 49 to Concord when I was a kid we could see our neighbors car in one field of tens of thousands...Hemi-Orange Superbirds stood out! Saw a race car fly out of there once, searching for who it was now. Daytona with the flat terrain especially at night the sound travels for miles and miles!

  16. Last night I went through my old posts here - and I got my last set in 2011....sold them the next year I believe. Since then I went through Magnepans, EV Sentry's, RF3's before I realized my true love... So, while the search has been around 5 years or so.... in truth - its been nearly 8.... If I had a larger house, I'm sure I'd be a speaker hoarder...

  18. HRC closed in 2018. The proliferation of legalized gambling pretty much killed horse racing. Seems the number of people who actually cared which horse won, was very small. The other yearly attraction was the circus, and we all know how well circuses are doing.

  23. You simply do not understand and I see in this post the smack of stereotyping. Sure there are those types but as a whole H-D riders are as diverse a group as you'll ever find. In my travels I've meet people touring here and there from around the globe and from all walks of life, doctors, nurses, cops, firefighters, truck drivers, housewives you name it. I don't bar hop or cruise around town dressed like a pirate, I have no use for clubs or group rides much preferring to go alone or with one or two others I know well and trust to ride with. I avoid cities like the plague, I like country roads or long stretches of desert highway and even when I take weeks long multistate tours I tend to stay off the freeways and out of the cities as much as possible. As for the sound it's much more than just the sound it's the whole experience the vibes the feel of the machine connected to me but I wouldn't expect you to understand,I don't believe I stated that the sound puts me in a zen state at least that was not what I was trying to convey. The sound is only part of it and no other engine sounds or feels like a Harley,I hate the sound of even fire engines with loud pipes as there's no cadence that reaches the soul. Again I wouldn't expect you to understand and for the record (again) my bike has mufflers and there are some folks that ride completely stock H-Ds which are as quiet as any other make as they have to build under the same EPA guidelines as any other make. Your perception is based on your little area and what you see and hear there, mine is based on covering most of the country and meeting people along the way. It's been a million mile journey that continues as long as I can throw a leg over, hopefully quite a few years yet!

  26. Gotta love a big block Chevy,I had a '69 Camaro with a 427/4 speed. Originally a 327 small block car but I got my hands on the Corvette 427 and installed it my self in the days of my youth. I kept that car for 14 years, wish I had it back sometimes but my LS powered '01 SS gets a heck of a lot better gas mileage and is plenty fast .lol

  32. When I rode Harleys I loved the sound of loud pipes. Even now, I appreciate the sound of a well tuned big twin. I tried to be considerate of others and not be the obnoxious guy at the stop light revving my engine. But oh, the sound of that 2-1 exhaust on my (highly modified) fatboy was very nice. No electric cars or motorcycles for me, thank you very much. Shakey

  33. I doubt that I ever would. Take the exhaust noise away from a bike and I'm certain that you'd have more accidents. Bikes are easily hidden in automobile blind spots and the exhaust noise is an easy way for a driver to realize someone's there.

  35. I'm actively searching craigslist for deals and if I can pick up a Kamado on the cheap to add to the arsenal, or a pellet the same way, great, just not willing to shell out big bucks when I do a lot of different grilling and cooking and hopefully I will find the time to get working on a masonry unit this summer. I would rather have options, even after I get a permanent unit built. In the past, I've dry stacked block and covered it with a piece of metal in a pinch for a wood smoke and it all comes down to time and temp.

  36. Hi dj! Sorry, but don't have any experience with the specific products here, but do have experience with the situation. I myself have RP-280F as fronts and a RP-440C as center. The fronts have 8 inch woofers, and the center have 4 inch woofers. A difference of 4 inches in woofer-size from fronts to center. Can't say I've noticed any lack of bass when it comes to the woofers. It blends quite well. I therefore don't think you will be disappointed in getting the RP-500C instead of the 600C when the difference is only 1.25 inches. However, if you do feel that the center speaker you choose is lacking in some way, keep in mind that it's normal to turn up the db of the center ch after calibrating your setup either manually or through room correction software. Hope this helps!

  39. I consider myself fortunate to have owned two "stepchildren" of the HD family: '90 FXRS-SP which I kept for 20 yrs, and my current ride, an '010 FXDF. Both these bikes were controversial in their appearance relative to much of the MoCo's products, but are now somewhat esteemed by a small portion of the Harley riding populace. I rode the FXR through the Mojave Desert on the way to the Grand Canyon, and both bikes have seen PCH-1 along CA's coastline and US-50 going up to Lake Tahoe. I don't hit the road as much as I used to, but whenever I do, it still makes the day end better than when it started. To the OP: I can understand your angst regarding the unwelcome intrusion of hi-decibel exhaust tones from certain bikes, whether its the banshee wail of a high-revving 4/6cyl "track bike" or the rolling thunder of a big-bore v-twin. Hopefully these raucous episodes are short-lived and spaced far apart; even more, I trust you won't develop any prejudices against the motorcycling public as the vast majority of them are really good people. ~

  42. Not a chance, my Harley makes it's own kind of music and it's got a primal beat to it like no other make has. Mind you it has mufflers not straight pipes like many (been there done that in my younger daze). I become one with the machine and get into a kind of Zen thing where nothing else maters. I would liken riding a sterile electric motorcycle verses a Harley to riding a carrousel horse rather than a real live flesh and blood horse that stomps and snorts and can even be unruly at times. I too live in the PAC NW up in the foothills of the Cascades where some of the best riding to be had on planet Earth resides and believe me I've been around (somewhere near 1,000,000 miles worth on 2 wheels over 50+ years). My view from home and one of my bikes (2000 Electraglide Classic -196,000 one owner miles)

  43. I very much understand your situation, and I also abhor extremely-loud more-or-less straight-exhaust motorcycles blasting high decibels around a "quiet neighborhood". I ride, and what I ride is very quiet, exhaust-wise, because of its STOCK mufflers! Every state has laws limiting the noise from exhaust systems on public roads, too! Unfortunately those laws seem to be ignored by not only many riders, but also by many police-people, too...most likely because many of them also ride loud-exhaust bikes! I have also experienced drunks getting to bed well after mid-nite at campsites I was already at, do this kind of thing: "I just want to hear my bike once more before crashing out"...they start it up and blast then entire campground with the noise at high engine revs, then lay down...waking everybody else up and inciting the park ranger to arrive shorty afterwards...to tell every campsite with a motorcycle to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY...and there I am packing up my stuff and loading it onto my QUIET bike, IN THE DARK, due to one or more jerks camping in the same camp-ground! Add to this all the people in the neighborhoods having JUST FINALLY gotten a baby to sleep, and here comes the loud bikes blasting thru the neighborhoods! There really is NO EXCUSE for denying others their rights to live peacefully, IMHO! There actually ARE much more low-decibel ways to increase the breathing of an engine, by installation of an aftermarket exhaust system, than installing extremely loud ones, instead! ELECTRIC BIKES?? Not for the kind of long-distance touring I tend to do on very out-of-the-way roads and highways! This pic was taken the morning I arrived at my destination after an all-niter from Fort Smith, AR, to Deals' Gap in North Carolina! I had OBVIOUSLY NOT unpacked the bike yet! 11-hour run, around 765 miles! Left home a couple of hours after getting off work, taking a shower and loading the bike.... at 7pm Central, arrived at destination at 7am Eastern! Three gas stops along the way!...and a stop for breakfast and lots of coffee before hitting "the gap" on the way in to the destination! ALWAYS BE AS AWAKE AS POSSIBLE, when riding "the gap"!

  44. Hello fellow Klipsch folks. It's been a good long while since I've been around here but in the last few months as i slowly prepare for retirement (3-4 years off) I've been putting a couple of systems together in my Pipes Canyon place (5 acres at the end of a dirt road--paradise after 35 years in L.A.) I pulled my 1978 Heresys out of storage and built a little cabinet that houses them for my TV sound. I never went in for "Home Theater" but I wanted to have decent 2-channel sound so I paired them with an Oppo bluray player and a little NuForce digital amp. It sounds great to me-- this is the first time I have used anything but a cheap-o sound bar in my life. For music I'm using my JBL Metregon that i bought a few years ago but never had a place for. It's a really great piece of furniture and its a rare one with the 3-way system. I'm pushing it with a Fisher 500C I've had since the 70's and a Thorens TD-125 with a Fidelity Research FR-64 and Denon 103 with a Fidelity Research step up. It sounds great. It cant hold a candle to my main system (Mcintosh MC-30s/C22/Thorens TD-124-SME 3012-Ortofon SPU) with my beloved 1960 Vertical horn Cornwalls. Its good to be back!!

  45. Hi everybody! Thanks for the super kind words. The sale of some of my speakers recently and the sale of the Hudsons is born of 2 life changes. 1 I have a new house... different setups and trying to build for my current needs. I lost my 3 car garage which was boat, Wife's ride and storage. Now we have boat and storage... Id like to get my wife back to parking in the garage as its her desire. If you guys have been watching some in the last few months, you'll see I love the cornscala concept... esp with Fastlane horns and ALK crossovers. The rest is just trial and error to make them nicer and even more stoutly made. One of the forum members got my JWC bins with Elpitrac mid and contracts tweeter... thats going to be a monster when done... few weeks later he called for a spare crossover... He ended up with a Triangle port baffles, horns and crossovers... I ended up paying for the development cost of my new monoblock amps... win win. 2nd major issues thats wonderful news, is that I was able to come to agreement with my partner and purchased his interest back in my company. I love to build speakers but intend to only do so on spec. The Demo units which went out for review and were used in shows are available. The Hudsons are remarkable in that they are the very best cornscala I could build.... great drivers, amazing custom crossover from ALK, solid build work with finish work to die for.... the Finish was perhaps the greatest challenge of the speaker as its a epoxy and then polished. Anyway, hope this helps clear the air. Lets all call it a fancy cornscala... Long live Klipsch and American HiFI! With that said... I vote the CWIV gets the 510 horn.
