  1. Came across a pair of KG4's for $50. Oiled oak cabs are a mess, grills are o.k. (one of the badges is perfect) and surrounds are fine. Not sure if I'm gonna recap em'. Paired them up with a Technics SA404 I've had in storage and a Sony RDR-GX315 that someone just flat out gave me at last year's Midwest Audio Fest in Springboro, OH (No remote but who cares). I'll be putting them on top of the cabinets to get em' out of the way. If anything, I look at it as saving $550 as the plan was to someday get a pair CA800T's mounted on the back wall.

Ten Years Later....to....Alvin Lee and Company...his picking and solo on "I'd love to Change the World" is as classic as they come!! And, YES he should have been inducted into the RRHF YEARS AGO!!

  12. I was there at the Naval Air Test Center Patuxent River in the 70's when a funny car raced an F-14 off the land based catapult. The aircraft was extremely light loaded with fuel and the funny car had no traction on the rough runway so the F-14 was timed from launch to airbourne and the funny car went to a nearby dragstrip (Budd's Creek??) and timed over that distance, the F-14 won but know that it had the catapult assist. During the acceptance flights of the F-22 from the factory (I was test coordinator) the Raptor had a chase F-16 so that ATC could see them on radar. The F-16 would take off, build speed and come back around, announce 10 seconds to the F-22's stationary hold position on the runway then the Raptor would go to burner (only one burner takeoff for LM and one for customer due to noise abatement) and the Raptor would outrun the chase from a dead start. We had to change areas where supersonic, non-afterburner, "supercruise" flight was tested due to complaints from cattle ranchers.

  13. Noticed that a lot of my old records have the best or better tunes on side two, always heard that your metabolism changes every seven years! Cool Sleeve! last song side two:

  14. These are the next two, that was a brand new lambo a few years back designed with those F-22 esque angles. Somehow they got to race and the car hung with the fighter until it went airborne. Can't help it cool or an old big block with a wild cam just trip my trigger.... always have!

  24. Ok can't lie, that was the very little I talked about, the bark is the best part. Stole the idea off the internet and made one years ago, they were expensive back then about $70, now many people are selling them. This just one video showing how it works.

  25. I just set up and calibrated a new RP-8000F based mixed use (stereo and HT) and I couldn't be happier. The system actually replaced a more expensive GoldenEar setup I purchased about 4 years ago. I'm not here to bash GoldenEar, I think the speakers (particularly my main L/R) just didn't work well in my room and integrate into my setup. They make great speakers. But man, the dynamics of the 8000s are off the charts better and the soundstage and imaging are equal if not better. In fact, I don't have the Klipsch fully set up, I currently have them pushed much closer to the front wall while I play with final positioning so I should be able to wring more depth out of them. But even now they just work so well for my ear. The rest of my setup is the RP-504C and two pair of RP-502S for side and rear surrounds.

  28. OK...something big may be happening in vinyl availability! I spent most of last week at a paratrooper reunion in Fort Smith, AR. I had to make a few runs to Wal-Mart while there for stuff...and found vinyl is on the shelves! Not only that but in North Little Rock, and Jonesboro, Arkansas, too! I dunno if this is already nation-wide or not! But it seems they are at least testing the waters for vinyl sales! So those of you who live a long distance from a record shop. might not have to drive so far in the near future...with the added advantage that you will likely be able to order online for pick-up locally....just saying.....and no, I am not affiliated!

  29. Excuses, excuses, excuses....JK...NOW YOU KNOW, tho!...What is really SOOOO strange is that, generally-speaking, the biggest rock hits NORMALLY were the ones which people could EASILY dance to, which ALSO got lots of AM radio play due to either being short enough in duration, OR due to having a shortened version specifically FOR AM radio play! So, that being said, most of the longer songs, were actually only heard when people bought the albums they were on...OR when they stayed up late at night to listen to something like AM radio's KAAY which pumped up its wattage to 50,000 at night and had shows for extended play like Beeker Street! So if people never BOUGHT the LP's or listened to one of those radio shows, or heard it some other way...they just weren't informed! Songs which had constant tempo change throughout them also did not have the advantage of being picked up for a list being played by local bands which made their living from the dance songs! So, when something like "I'd Love to Change the World" off of the Ten Years After album "A Space In Time" became such a huge hit, it was pretty damned miraculous due to its defying ALL of the norms! That entire album is so very much an extremely-cleanly well-recorded one, that on big old horn speakers it just blows you away! @dirtmudd we need this more than ever ! I was listening to this a few weeks ago....sending links to another forum member of things for LaScala play using an H/K 430...and thought the same damned thing!!

  30. I have done that a couple times in the last few days, it started with 70's music and no telling up where it ended, Last night I watched some videos again, ended up with this one, The O"Jays on Live from Daryl's house. If you have never seen any you need to check out some of his videos, good quality video, and audio.

  31. Or when you would rather a 40 year old over a 20 year old. When the wife sees me looking at a young girl she says you like that "go for it", I usually say do I look like I want to hang out at the mall? But really what I hear is like Clint Eastwood said, " you feel lucky punk".

  33. @Full Range Can't explain how Mr. Alvin Lee hasn't been in my top five list of favorite guitarists except to say I started the first grade in `69. Some artists I was exposed to through my buds in my late teen years, but I did know of and hear a lot of Ten Years After from radio. That seven minute piece above with my first mug of coffee on a late start Tues. was just right!

  34. First of all, the Khorns you showed are WAY too high, the seller obviously does not know the market, or is just trying to get lucky.....$2500 to $3000 MAX. Second, since you already own a sub and are considering building some others, and considering your room, I would go with a nice pair of used La Scalas that you are happy with both functionally AND cosmetically. You can always do driver and crossover updates in time (and it is worthwhile, for sure). Your amps are perfect for La Scalas, just wait till you hear the difference between them and your Heresy III......Not sure what your room is like relative to reflective surfaces (walls, floor, windows), type of furniture and placement, but this is something that you should also consider for possible improvement/rearrangement. Please keep us posted on your journey. Have fun.

  40. Buy a used pair. Whether real old or a set from someone who changes equipment a lot. If you have good corners a used pair of K-Horns might be the ticket. If not the La Scala is a no brainer.

  41. All good choices, is there any way you could listen to some of these before deciding I know it's not your room but there is a pretty big difference in the models you named and what might fit your music style. I was going to suggest a dealer where you could listen, like Upscale Audio but seen it was a good way from SF, maby another dealer or person on the forum where you could listen? There is such a difference you need to hear them for your own good. https://www.upscaleaudio.com/ If nothing else go to his youtube pages where he describes some Klipsch models. Just one of his reviews
